Fortunately, Randy was still alive and well, and able to design a board for me, send the specs to the shaper, and get me my new stick, including packing and boxing it up for me within the twelve days I had before heading back to South America. I've been surfing for more than 60 years, surfed and lived all over the surfing world, and I either purchased or had Randy design boards that I'm fortunate to have in my quiver. I was going on a trip to the PNW and needed (I thought) a sling/crossbody/backpack/day bag of sorts. I looked and looked and figured I should try Patagonia, because Ventura. Right? Prices are steep, but unfortunately, that is (sadly) to be expected in 2026. There were quite a lot of salespeople on the floor. They were talking to each other, but whatev.
