I had expertly prepared garlic sirloin, beef rib and chicken leg. Pork loin wasn't available on today's visit. The meat speaks for itself; even the garlic version wasn't overly tricked out. I enjoyed bacalhoada and beans from the buffet. Some of the carbs and salads you'd expect are here, plus the surprising appearance of oxtail, which i skipped as the agenda was sufficiently meat-driven. The woman at the counter showed how service can still be excellent in a casual no-waiter joint. I liked the red hot sauce at the buffet and the fiery pepper-laden condiment on the table.

Drove from Stamford because I was too lazy to drive to Danbury or Bridgeport for better quality stuff just to arrive and be informed that they don't have any, after they recalled me calling them for it. Alright no biggie (let's be realistic pregnant lady is not happy lol) got dois coxinhas com catupiry, two pao de queijo, some buffet food and left. Arrived home and the pao tastes super bland, the coxinhas taste different, and the food spiced more like in a Hispanic way then Brasilian, it was alright ( the buffet food) but definitely not Brasilian. I've learned that the establishment has had a different owner for years and that's why the quality of the food and the way it is made has significantly declined. If you're looking for good authentic Brasilian food, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. They're just labeling it Brasilian but it is definitely not Brazilian food and not even good Hispanic food. Maybe stop advertising that it is Brasilian food and stop embarrassing the cuisine.

My son and I both got the same pineapple mint lemonade it's delicious and freshly made, he also got one to go, we had the picantah burgers with fries, its on the happy hour menue, i've tried a few other items but the burger is the best option and its delicious freshly made with all of the works, lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, swiss cheese and a special sauce, very juicy and flavorful. The fries are also crispy and hot, i can never eat the entire burger i cut it in half and have the rest for later. The burger is a hit, if you want a nice ambiance affordable lunch try the burger.

It was supposed to include waffles, an omelette station, exotic fruit and meat. No omelette station, no waffles. I asked for waffles and was told they were being prepared. I checked a few times they never arrived. Most of the meat was too salty and arrived very slowly unlike most Brazilian S.H. It even stopped before we turned over our cards. Not sure if they were taking a break but the serving time was brief. The salad bar lacked variety. It was half the size of other B.S.H. Nothing special just salad, fruit that you can get anywhere, cold cornbread. No shrimp, not much extras. The soup was ok.

It's styled as Peruvian, but has many common traits with other Hispanic, Caribbean and South American food cultures like Dominican and Colombian. It is very popular with construction contractors getting lunch on the go and the line can go out the door mainly for getting a filling meal for $6. The variety of food differs every day. There is usually a beef, chicken and/or pork stew, pernil, grilled steak ($10), fried fish, etc with a couple of choices of rice and beans (black or pinto). I sometimes ask for a piece of cassava, tostone or an empanada (+$2) on the side. Sometimes it's a crap shoot when it looks really good in the tray but is awful when you start eating it. If you ever see the gallina, stay the hell away. It's the oldest, toughest, orneriest chicken you'll ever come across. Remember Jack Palance's character, the tough, old, grizzled cowpoke, Curly from City Slickers? They made a stew out of him. You'll never get a gourmet meal here, but if you want cheap and quick, you could do a lot worse. Which is why we keep coming back, because we're cheap AF.

Service was incredible: they were patient with me as I tried to decide on what to order, ultimately going with an iced latte, pao de queijo and a coxinha, in my broken Portuguese. The coxinha reminded me of croquetas in Florida, a fried ball filled with delicious chicken and cheese. The pao de queijo, also amazing, just reminded me that Brazilians have the best ideas when it comes to bread! I did not order a sweet, but they had some very appealing brigadeiros and passion fruit mousse. They have a small seating area inside and out front, on the sidewalk. The inside seating area is filled with products from Brazil, showing that Araras, like its name suggests, is coffee AND more. There are a variety of products, like snacks and cooking staples, as well as skin care products and some small kitchen necessities (like stove-top coffee makers), reminding me of the importance of places like Araras for Brazilians living in the community who want to feel a slice of home.

My suggestion is to order your coffee at the register to-go while you're waiting to be seated. It makes the time fly by! The cafe is cozy and welcoming. The decor is warm and celebrates coffee, a true highlight of the restaurant. Their pastries look inviting and truly decadent. The ladies behind the register and server at our table are all so pleasant and helpful. Our server, Mariana, was very knowledgeable of the menu and suggested options to us for specific food allergies. Mariana is kind, helpful, and really makes you feel taken care of. Their coffee beans have a perfect acidity and chocolatey note, making the coffee taste flavorful, rich, and smooth. Both coffee and espresso drinks are served to perfection. Their hot drip coffee is very smooth and may be one of the best coffees I've had. I also love the Maple Cinnamon Latte with almond milk. It is complex in flavor and perfectly sweetened to my liking. Sweet Pea's is popular for their pão de queijo, a Brazilian cheese bread, which is gluten free. It is the BEST pão de queijo I've tried. It's perfectly salty, buttery, and fluffy. Just wow. They have many options for sandwich fillings with this bread, both savory and sweet. The Old Farmer's Breakfast is a hearty dish. The scrambled eggs are fluffy and seasoned well. The bacon is crispy and makes the dish have the perfect balance of savory and sweet. The gluten free pancakes are flavorful but slightly drier than an average pancake, so do dunk them in a little maple syrup to give them that just-right texture. If you are gluten free, it is worthy to note that cross-contamination is possible from their pancake grill. The dish is so filling and recommended! I would absolutely come back to try more dishes and coffee creations.

There is a take-away area at the front where you can purchase breads, arepas, and other easily portable foods, in addition to the tables and seating area in the back of the restaurant. We opted to dine-in for breakfast and try a variety of plates: calentado, arepa con chicharron, morcilla, and bunuelos. The calentado transported me back to Medellin and, honestly, it kept me full for the entire day. The morchilla, arepas, and chicharrones were cooked to perfection and we were provided with a variety of sauces to add an extra boost of flavor. Absolutely everything was delicious and the prices are incredibly reasonable when compared with the other breakfast restaurants in the area. The service was very friendly and attentive.
