Upon entry I was greeted by the person behind the cash register and he seated me right away. The atmosphere of the restaurant during the time I went was very quiet and not.busy which I throughly enjoyed. Another person came and gave me chips and salsa and ask if I wanted guacamole, it was made to order, very fresh and really good. My server was phenomenal! The chicken soup was the best part. Other Mexican restaurants I go to although the chicken is in broth it be dry but this soup...the chicken was nice and tender, moist and a slight kick in the background. Absolutely fantastic! One Star - Never Again I had an extremely disappointing and offensive experience at Rio Grande. The service was unprofessional from start to finish. The waitress didn't explain a single thing on the menu, and I was blindsided by a $9 charge for rice and beans added to my nachos -- which were only $10 to begin with. Toppings should never cost as much as the entree itself, and if that's somehow the policy at this place, it should be clearly communicated. But the worst part? When I calmly questioned the outrageous pricing -- especially considering the beans were cold and the rice was hard -- the manager became hostile and shockingly rude, saying, "We don't like your kind in here anyways" and "Shame on you." Completely unacceptable. There are plenty of great Mexican restaurants in Eden where the staff are kind, the food is fresh, and you won't be insulted for asking a fair question. Do yourself a favor and skip Rio Grande -- your money and dignity are better spent elsewhere. read more

Consistently good food, tasty margaritas, nice staff, and nearby. A local food icon, loved by everyone. "The Rio" is one of our favorite 'go to' places in Eden NC when my wife and I want familiar comfort food, quick, and don't feel like washing dishes. The food here is OK. Prices are a little higher than other local Mexican Restaurants. Here is the problem I had at the Restaurant. I ordered a dish and wanted zucchini and extra cheese on it. When I got my dish, it had neither. When the waitress come around with the tickets, I told her of the mistake and said that it wasn't a big deal, I still ate it. She said to tell the register guy (co-owner) so when I was leaving, I did as I was told. The co-owner acted really confused and asked if I had the items in my dish. I said no. He went to the waitress, and both came over. He said, "she said your ordered zucchini and cheese." I said I did order it, but it wasn't prepared correctly. I told them that a lady at another table had ordered the same dish as I did, and the food was coming out at the same time, and I heard the waiter say the dishes name and said with zucchini. I had just got my dish and had started eating it. It wasn't a big deal to me, so I ate it and advised the waitress. While at the register the owner wanted me to point out the lady that got the dish with my zucchini and said that she'd have to pay for the extra stuff. How are they going to make a person pay for items that they didn't order, and it was their staff's mistake. The other lady had already left, I guess. The extras would've cost approximately $3.50. The owner gave me a two-dollar discount on my food, so I still paid for one of the items that I did not get. I decided to let it go and made up my mind that I just won't go back to eat there again. The co-owner acted as if I was stealing a few pieces of zucchini and a 1/4 cup of cheese if that. In my opinion, that signifies greed. Beware if you go to this Restaurant. read more

I rate this restaurant zero. This past Tuesday 3/29/22 the manger there took my walk in order. Act as though he didn't understand my order. All the way one he acted racist towards me being a black person. His pound voice and yelling "I do not know" it was too many 4 times explain what my order I ask for as several of his young (me being a black women) Mexican waiters watch. Don't miss the table side guacamole! It's fantastic! the patio is a great place to relax, enjoy good food, cold beer, and that amazing guacamole! They have both a covered and un-covered patio. The covered patio boasts several TVs so you can watch football, golf, soccer, whatever while you enjoy you meal. This was our first visit, so I went with basics, a tamale, enchilada, & tostada. They were all good, not great, but good. Next time we visit, which will be soon, I'm going to try one of their specialty dishes. We have give this restaurant tons of business over the years and tonight makes 3 times we've had a problem with our bill and the staff is NEVER apologetic. They are hateful, smart mouth, and even told me if i didn't come back it'd be "even better". And this was the owner AND the waiter. As I said this is the 3rd time our bill has been messed up and they never even attempt to make it right. I am beyond pissed. This is a sorry excuse for customer service. He refuses to fix the bill and threatens to call the law if you refuse to pay and tonight was over $2.25!!!!!! I have experience in the restaurant business and this is a VERY unacceptable way to treat customers. As long as they make their money they could give a care less if you're happy or satisfied. Little twisty shavings that were so dry you could barely get them down. It looked like maybe they had been boiled or baked and then heavily seasoned. They took this dry chicken and a mess of greasy peppers and onions and dumped on top of salad greens that were soaking wet with water. will Never order anything from then again. This was our first visit. The food is sensational! My husband had the carnitas dinner, I had the beef quesadilla. The food was clean and fresh. Nicely seasoned. I don't know if the make their own tortillas, but they were THE BEST. Light and thin, almost crepe like. Our neighbor encouraged us to try Rio Grande and we're glad we did. We wanted some place close to the house so we went here last night. The staff is awesome and very fast at bringing chips and salsa and our drinks right off the bat. The chips did not appear to be home made but were warm; the salsa was home made with big chunks of fresh tomato. The had a cart that came around and they would make fresh guacamole at your table with what you wanted in it. We didn't try it but like the fact it is fresh and made in front of you.
