WHAT!?!? We went to this nursery yesterday in search of a specific species of tree. The stock is SO…read morelow it's not worth the trip here anymore. What's more when asked what was happening to the inventory we were almost scolded for the query...to quote: "I'm doing the jobs of 11 people, I can only do so much, I'm taking care of 11 acres of plants and trees so you get what you get!!" Yup, with that customer service, you'll get what you get.

I needed a weeping cherry tree. I went around to the usual places and while they had cherry trees the were not of the quality i was looking for. I did not want a Home Depot tree or something in a 10 gallon container. I want a TREE. Okay. So I drive down to Plymo with the intention of getting a tree. I walk through the nursery and realize there are several different specimens that I would like. The owner comes to my rescue and careful tells me about the differences between the trees and I make my final deciscion. This is where things take a turn. The owner motions to the help to get a special tree lifting type of machine. The person maneuvers the equipment and snatches the tree up. I am know faced with the problem. I paid for the tree... I think it was over $300. The tree is now out of the ground and I can fully see the root ball - it is roughly the size of a VW Beetle. The ask were the truck is and I motion towards my small Toyota Tacoma. The nursery folk ask how I plan on planting the tree and I say off my girlfriend and I will. They laugh and suggest I buy some beer and invite my guy friends over. By this time I am crying on the inside knowing this is going to be a disaster. They are kind enough to give me some very comprehensive planting instructions and wrap it up in landscaping fabric for the journey home. Fast forward to the planting. It was a disaster. The tree fell off of the ingenious Rube Goldberg contraption I had devised to plant the tree and land on my foot. I was lucky enough to be able to fire up the old Range Rover's winch and through a series of intricate pulleys winch the huge tree across the lawn to is respective location. Katsura is a great place to go. They have a lot of specimen trees and Japanese maples, but just be aware that some of the trees are larger then they appear.

Merchandise: -seasonal vegetables and fruits. Check the signage to determine if it was grown by Sunrise Gardens. I do appreciate that they offer items not grown on site, such as onions and potatoes, so that I don't have to make a separate trip to the grocery store to round out my produce purchases. -jams/jellies -crafts -lots of seasonal items (corn stalks, pumpkins, gourds) -entire greenhouses full of flowers Cost: -I've found that by purchasing local, I'm not spending that much more on produce (like, cents more). The quality more than makes up for the few pennies more. -credit/debit cards accepted for purchases over $5 Staff: -every interaction I've had with the staff at Sunrise Gardens has been incomparably pleasant. They are talkative, friendly, but not overbearing. You can shop and browse without interruption, if that's your thing. Shop local-- especially for home-grown foods-- and reap the benefits of sustaining local farmers and diversifying your dinner plate!

People seem laid back and friendly, and prices are pretty good overall. The plants are always high quality and they have such a great selection, but it can be pricey compared to other nurseries in the area. During the Spring and Summer they have a sprawling selection of plants, trees, and shrubs, I could (and have) spent hours browsing through them all. The staff is always really nice and you get the vibe that they're genuinely interested in your project and happy to give recommendations. In addition to the actual plants, they have landscaping services, lots of gardening supplies, and even decorative items and gifts. I haven't participated in anything just yet, but they even host all kinds of events and classes throughout the year. Overall, I'm super happy to have such a fun community spot nearby. They only lost a star for me because of the high prices, but as long as the plants keep doing so well I'll keep coming back anyways :)

Every time I go no one says good morning or good afternoon. No one greets me. So I wander the whole place looking for inspiration with my huge garden that i have yet to figure out. I buy things here and there, I even have an account. They only reason why I gave three stars instead of two was because two gentlemen on two separate occasions were so helpful helping me look for plants for the front of the house for hedging and for beautiful blooms for lilacs. I really wanna like this place but maybe I'm not the target customer which is sad cause I live in the area.
