Her staff is VERY professional, friendly, and welcoming to all genders, nationalities, personalities, etc. It's very easy to schedule/cancel/reschedule appointments and you are seen in a timely manner of your appointment time! No matter how you have felt at other addiction facilities you will feel like you have been to this practice many times with comfort and ease to get the supportive help that you most need. The patient rooms are very clean, with comfortable small couches to help you relax and be more yourself in an engaged, motivational and uplifting office visit. Also, they offer individual and group therapy sessions and, probably, other services that I don't know about. I was addicted to…read moreopiates, and was putting myself in dangerous situations, doc shopping etc to get what I needed. I was 100% convinced I didnt have the strength, courage or will power to stop taking opiates. That all changed September 7, 2014, my 1st meeting with Doctor Russ. He immediately put me at ease, spent well over 2 hours understanding my situation, and discussing his process and care he will provide to safely get me off opiates forever. I knew I had finally found the right Doctor as he genuinely cares about his patients and goes to "above and beyond" to ensure their success in overcoming addiction. I had met with 3 different, highly rated Doctors in NYC, who spent 10 minutes with me, prescribed Suboxone, with no further instructions or counseling. Each time I relapsed, and fell further into my addiction Doctor Russ explained his process, and the importance of following it for a successful outcome. Additionally he educated me on Suboxone and how and when to consume for ideal results. He coupled medicine with counseling, which was the key to his success rates. He is very humble, and doesnt share that he has the highest success rates with no relapses. He cares more about helping you understand and overcome the reason that lead to your addiction. As our sessions continued he prescribed and anti-depressant as I was in denial of how much my depression was sabotaging my life. As our sessions continued, I realized, he was dedicated to ensuring not only my success in overcoming my addition, but also rebuilding an enriched life. He listens, never judges, provides guidance to build a great life and never watches the clock. CASA was a fun organization to be a part of mainly due to Dr. F's enthusiasm, passion and new ideas on making students aware of substance abuse. I was a peer educator and Dr. F trained us to do workshops, intervention and reach out to students at TU on the issues of drug and alcohol use. He was one of the most accessible and easy going professors that I knew. I often found myself talking to Dr. F about things I was going through because he was so easy to talk to. Respectively, I could tell he wasn't a stranger to the crazy college lifestyle (partying, relationship woes, family struggles, work balance, etc) I was living and he never made me feel "less than" or like he didn't get it. Dr. F always just got it. I think Dr. F would be a great therapist for anyone wanting to explore the role addiction serves in his or her world. My first admit, I was in the woman's group and it became a place we're I could really feel safe and taken care of. There is one floor dedicated specifically to women with trauma and they way it is set up, it lessen a load of trauma I had. Second admit, I was invited to their prize program that is specifically set up for patients who have come through multiple times. It is only for people who seriously want to get better because everything is definitely more accelerated. It was very very helpful to me and it is also the only floor that is co-ed. The only main negative for me is that I think their food is exceptional high in calories. It makes sense because many people come in under weight but for me I wasn't and I can a lot of weight really fast. Most of it's gone now but that is definitely something I would talk to my dietitian about, for them to help me get a good eating plan.
