Long story short, I was dismissed by the owner for being too focused on the details of their service contract. I was told to look elswhere for help. I can only assume they are not used to people seeking clarity about the details of their contract. People are usually too devastated about their family circumstance to have the energy to get everything done and focus on every detail. But this is for my loved one, and I wanted to make sure the arangement was fairly balaced when it came to how each party was covered from a responsibility standpoint. I was told to go elsewhere. Which wasn't only rude and unprofessional, but mean. But I'm glad I know now before they ever had a chance to get near my loved one. It's sad. read more

represented as "highly skilled" - not at all night caregiver fell asleep while on the job; owner explained that he was stressed that day. another watched things on his phone with the volume on 10 ft. from patient. another was sitting at the end of the bed, 3 feet from where patient fell off to floor. another got in a huge fight with a caregiver from another agency as one was coming and one was going. kicked our pillows as well. None kept the patient or other things clean. On the surface, owners are lovely. From other agencies, we had a superb caregiver and two fabulous nurses. This is a wonderful agency that really cares about the care giver and their loved ones. I have used Right At Home for over a year and a half and cannot say enough nice things. Today, I just realized I had forgotten to let the office know about a doctors appointment and they called me right back immediately after I left a message with their message service during their lunch. I feel they have my back! Normally, I have just one day a week for my mom as she is enrolled in many day programs. That works out fine, no pressure to add days and/or extra hours and many agencies do. I was so grateful when I contacted them over the weekend last Spring as my mom was getting out of the hospital and would need much more care for a week or so. I was not sure when she would be discharged, but Ariana worked with me smoothly as things progressed to make sure mom was taken care of fully. Senior Access provides a daytime club for folks with dementia and caregiver support and respite. We offer 4 - 6 caregiver education workshops each year. Thanks to Ariana and Lena at Right at Home, we are able to offer onsite care during the workshops. I know for a fact that at least 2 of our caregivers would NOT have been able to attend the workshop without onsite care! Ruthie, the caregiver from Right at Home, was so lovely and took such great care of our clients, who are quite frail. At one point, I noticed that Ruthie pulled her chair up very close to one client in order to interact more closely with her, creating a nice warm space of acceptance and love. I could not be more grateful to have worked for Right at Home. They have a great staff and the management is very respectful to their workers. Being a college student actively involved on campus and having to support myself, I really appreciated the flexibility. They were respectful of my not-so flexible schedule and never pressured me to take any shifts that I was not comfortable taking, but there seemed to be plenty of opportunities to take on if I had wanted to. One of the things I found helpful was that there was someone on-call 24-7. When you work with clients that have dementia or disorders, coming across a situation where you need approval or advice from a manager is inevitable, so knowing that they are just a phone call away was a great peace of mind. If you like making a difference in the lives of those who need assistance (and I really mean it when I say make a difference, both physically and emotionally) or even just a flexible part-time job I would definitely give them a try! read more

We traveled to northern CA this past week to attend my mother's funeral. My dad is in a wheelchair and needs assistance. I contacted Right at Home from a reference I received here at home. Chuck and Ariana, the owners, were very helpful with our last minute request for service. They assigned a fantastic caregiver to my dad. Her name is Dalila. They worked with our schedule that needed to change as things developed for the funeral. Dalila was very special and had years of experience. My husband was diagnosed with Parkinson's in early 2009. Shortly thereafter, we realized he needed care giving services. Raffaella's presence in our home blends with the tranquility and peacefulness that we strive to create. She makes everyone's life better with her positive, uplifting attitude. Unlike many other caregivers we have had, she can cook and give appealing presentation of food--which is extremely important in order for my husband to want to eat. Medication reminders are given on a timely basis--mandatory for Parkinson's. She's diligent in picking up after my husband. Recently my husband was injured during an overseas trip, needed emergency surgery there, and also here upon returning home a few days later. Given his age and medical conditions, we required help at home immediately upon his release from the hospital and only had 1 day to find that help. Thanks heavens I was referred to Right At Home. I contacted them at 11 am and Jessica had help for me within an hour of my husband returning home by ambulance later that afternoon. They provided us round the clock care for four days, and every staff member was excellent. I'm so happy to rave about Right at Home. Ariana Myers and her staff are highly competent, reliable, extremely nice, easy people to work with, and were always quickly responsive to our needs. Our dear 87yo friend needed a "sitter" while staying in a skilled nursing facility during her recovery from emergency open heart surgery. After 7 hours of anesthesia and post-op pain Rx she was mentally disoriented, confused, forgetful and yet quite impulsive and wanting to be up and walking all day long. Ariana's staff were fantastic w/ our friend. Although she had cognitive impairment, she's a very bright, animated university professor, and the women Ariana attendants kept her engaged and in good spirits. After 5 or 6 weeks she wasn't sorry to leave the skilled nursing for an assisted living facility, but she was very sad to lose "her friends" - the sitters from Right at Home.
