I hired RAH for 2 days of health aide help following surgery. One young woman knew how to bring food, a napkin, clean up without asking. Unfortunately, 16 hours was spent with a woman who was only able to help me shower.She did warm up soup once but left the stovetop encrusted with the soup. She thought a spoon was a wide spatula, despite my instructions that there were many spoons in front of her. Otherwise she did nothing. Communication was a huge issue. Of note: an antique chair was damaged during RAH's stay. Worse, the office manager-VP-wanted me to remove a negative google review in exchange for a discount on services. Really? Worse, I got the expected bill, but money was withdrawn before I had a chance to look at/ok the bill. Go elsewhere. read more

Management is rude and disrespectful specially Susan McManus who opted to disregard my requests and start arguments with my husband and I while my mother was actively dying. Services are overpriced and have a ridiculous cancellation policy. read more

For over two years my wife received excellent care from Angela Niles, a personal care assistant at Right at Home. She came five-hours a day, five days a week. Always on time, helpful, and caring. She made breakfast and lunch, helped with showers three times a week, and cleaned up some bathroom messes. But my wife needed more care, so now she's in a nursing home. She did so with respect and with a positive, cheerful manner which made my husband look forward to her visits. The aide was observant: She would report any unusual skin conditions which sometimes led me to make doctor appointments. I had reached out to Right at Home to care for my father after he was in the hospital for 4 weeks, and rehab for 2. He needed basic help in showering and getting dressed for the day. From my initial phone call inquiring about our needs to the last visit, everything was so professional. Many questions were asked about my father, his needs, interests, and the care he needed. The nurse went to visit my dad in rehab to get to know him so there would be more of a comfort level on the first day of service. Since my father didn't need as much help as expected, the nurse helped him do laundry and make him breakfast too. We were so happy and pleased with the care he received. My father was in need of "at home" care in the final two years of his life. My family was recommended to Right at Home by another agency we contacted that was outside of my father's geographic area. My dad was given care for two years through Right at Home with increasing care up to 24/7 as time went on. Most of the care givers were extremely responsive and took care of my dad's needs including everything from housekeeping and laundry to medicine dispensing. They really assisted me in making sure that my dad could stay in his home up to his passing a few months ago. A couple of the caregivers became like friends to him and treated him as family. Additionally, the office folks were very personable and tried to work with me in making sure all needs were addressed - including paying for the care. These services are not cheap - but it is what was requested by my father so that he would have institutionalized/nursing home care. All in all - I found these folks to be very good and would definitely recommend them for helping deliver care to a loved one in need. John Paul, Matt, and Sarah were excellent to deal with in working through logistics as issues of care arose. I cannot speak to the negative reviews, but the folks that were with my father were attentive and helpful right to the end. That is my family's experience. read more

I am a LICSW (licensed social worker) in the healthcare and geriatric field for many years. I have had the good fortune of collaborating with Right at Home numerous times for clients of mine. I have always found Right at Home to exhibit professionalism, competence, compassion and BEYOND amazing service. It is rare in my field to receive a call from a family many months after they are off a social workers service, however, I have received calls from families praising Right at Home after their loved ones death. The fact that they even thought and took the time to contact me to let me know how great their services were while grieving speaks volumes about the quality of care! After my first call from a family, I was hooked on Right at Home. I feel confident and comfortable putting my name to this referral, without a doubt. Additionally, Right at Home has jumped to my assistance on nights, weekends and other "off" hours to help families in emergent distress. I was able to line up care in a mere two hours on a Sunday night! Right at Home is always my first go to referral when a family is considering or inquiring about home care services. They work with families on an individual basis, and will provide families with patient, informational meetings-no matter how apprehensive or serious they are about making a financial commitment to home care. The staff are patient, flexible and empathetic to the stresses of caregivers. They have helped me with clients who will never need their business with insight and suggestions on other resources. That is what they do, they are truly dedicated to our senior population as a whole, and not just in the private home care world. As a social worker throughout the entire state, as well as bordering states, I will say I have had experiences with a variety of private home care agencies. Many are excellent, and unfortunately some are not. However, I have never had the experiences as I have stated above. Because of these, Right at Home is always my first phone call. I recommend any family to meet with them, interview them, and just see what they can do. I am confident that they will not disappoint. When you have many clients and a big heart (typical social worker!), its hard to trust other caregivers and agencies to provide the quality of care, empathy and support that you know you would to your families. I have sincerely found that with Right at Home. It truly is a blessing to have Right at Home as one of my secret weapons when planning safe, long term plans for our seniors!! read more

I want to supplement my review of 11/28/2015 with new information. I did read the response from Vlad from Right at Home. Most of his response seems to be advertisement, but skirts the issue I raised. Vlad says his company complies with all state hiring practices and regulations and goes beyond. In our case, the caretaker had an open pending court case for larceny when Vlad's company sent her to care for my mother. The theft of cash and jewelry from my mother was coincidental and more likely done by a family member according to Vlad. If Vlad really does the background checks he says, he would have seen the name on her CNA license matched the name with the open court case. He would also have seen the name she gave them on her application was not the name on the license. Did Vlad or his company ever even see her license? If so why allow her to apply for a job and use a different name? Often people wh o are using different names are doing so for good reason, to hide something. The disturbing thing is my family as amateurs were able to match the two names on our own and find the open court case through Google, I am disappointed Vlad's professional company could not. We reported the theft immediately when it happened. Yet Vlad's company continued to send this caretaker out to the homes of others for weeks after our report. I am guessing probably up until the time we informed Vlad of the open case that his company apparently never found on their own. I certainly hope not after that. So I hope Vlad will respond more specifically so consumers can understand how something specific like this can happen. When and why did he stop using the caretaker? Did his company see the license? Why was the incorrect name used? The bottom line is this company sent a personal care worker with a false name and a pending court case for larceny to my mother's home to care for her. That is really why I have rate the company lowly. Nothing else. read more

I recommend you DO NOT hire Right at Home for in home health care services. The majority of what the clinical director represented to us in our initial interview was never delivered, including customized care plans (adjusted if there were changes in condition of the patient), care logs and most importantly competent, trusted, professional employees. In my family's situation there was always a family member in the home (often times helping) while the Right at Home aide was there. Here is a sampling of my experiences and observations: * Aide # 1 (hired for 24/7 live in care) Napping in her room and missing important meal times, constantly on her cell phone (usually speaking a different language and in one conversation was swearing), lying on the couch with feet up, overslept 3 mornings and had to be woken up by family member, started her shift after having been awake on another job with another employer for 24 hours straight. This was the first aide assigned to us by Right at Home for a Monday AM through Friday AM shift. I asked her on Tuesday if Right at Home supervision had checked in with her to see how things were going and she responded "I have never had anyone from Right at Home check in on me." * Aide # 2 (hired for 24/7 live-in care) Rummaging through drawers and medicine cabinets without authorization (money and jewelry were discovered missing after this aide's 3 day shift was over), painting her finger nails and toe nails in the sunroom, asking me for help in using internet so she could apply for other jobs. This aide represented that this was her first assignment with Right at Home and she could make a lot more money if she contracted on her own. * Aide # 3 (hired for 24/7 live-in care) Asked permission to take a nap 2 hours into her shift because she had been awake for 24 plus hours at a previous employer, asked permission to leave while on her shift so she could go to the bank. After 3 weeks of this disappointing experience, we made arrangements for family to cover most of my mother's needs and only used Right at Home for 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours at night to help with bedtime needs, while pursuing another agency to take over the in home care. I was not impressed with Right at Home management either. The clinical director met the first aide assigned at my mother's house and said she would stay until both the aide and the family were comfortable. She was late arriving, asked for a tour of the house and then stayed for about 10 more minutes and left. She never called to check in to see if I was satisfied as a first time client. In fact, I had to call her 3 days later to express some of the concerns noted above. She represented that she would be evaluating the care plan regularly and making adjustments if there was a change in my mother's condition. Over the course of the 6 weeks that we used Right at Home (until my mother's death) there was a significant deterioration in my mother's health, but there was never another assessment done by the clinical director. I could go on and on, but these were the highlights/lowlights of our very disappointing and concerning experience with Right at Home. I recommend you DO NOT hire Right at Home if you are looking for a reputable, trusting agency to care for your loved one. read more

My family had a very disheartening experience with Right At Home (RAH) when we hired them to care for our terminally ill mother. We used the 24/7 live-in help for 3 weeks and then switched to shorter term hourly help for another 4 weeks. From the beginning we had various issues with the caregivers which we brought to the attention of RAH, but I believe the crux of the problem was with poor management. RAH did not deliver what they stated/promised on their website...their reality never matched our expectations. Because of the problems (both major and minor) that we had, I question how rigorous their selection process (reference checks, background clearance, personal interview, and competency testing) actually was. Their specialized training to match the aide to her assignment was definitely lacking. The Custom Care Plan for our mother was not particularly detailed and was basically composed from information we gave to their clinical director, not from an assessment done by her. Since the caregivers did not keep daily care logs (as stated that they would on the website) my mother's deteriorating condition was never noted so her care plan was not modified accordingly. To assist the caregivers we composed a checklist with the approval of RAH yet, for the most part, it was never consulted or annotated. The promise of regular, unannounced visits to supervise the caregivers was not fulfilled. In the seven weeks there was one visit, and that was at our request. Although we reached out to RAH with our concerns there was very little follow through from them. Their stated mission to "improve the quality of life for those we serve" fell way short in our case. Please look elsewhere for quality help in your home. read more

Right at Home provided aides and nurse support to my elderly father for two years. I live in another state, but employed an independent Care Manager myself to also oversee my father's situation. The aides were among the nicest people I have ever met, and cared for my father with kindness and respect. When there was a problem getting coverage (during severe snowstorms, for example), I was contacted early on and advised what was being done, and my father always had someone there. When he was hospitalized, I coordinated with Right at Home so that the aides were at the hospital with my father, even when I was present (my father was blind and partially deaf). Because of the support from Right at Home my father was able to remain in his own apartment and not go into a nursing home. I am grateful for the wonderful care my father received and for the kindness and professionalism of all the Right at Home staff. read more
