LINCARE, MOUNT VERNON, WA…read more On Thursday, 2/28/2019 @ 1:10 PM, I contacted my local oxygen DME provider and advised the telephone receptionist that I was having performance issues with my portable oxygen concentrator. Since this machine is NECESSARY for me to continue to breathe, I requested to speak with someone that could help me. I was advised that a "technician " would contact me ASAP. When I asked if they could provide me an estimate of when I would be contacted, I was advised "no, but it will be as soon as possible". Well, that was SIX DAYS AGO and I still hadn't heard from LINCARE. As a result, I drove down to their office, on 3/6/19 @ 11:15 AM, to find out why. I never did get an answer as to why I wasn't contacted, but a person explained to me that they would take my POC, supply me with oxygen bottles (which of course you can't use while traveling) and would put me in-line for a replacement POC (which can be used while traveling) - but it could "take somewhere between several weeks to 2 months". But, of course, he couldn't guarantee even 2 months. I contacted the POC manufacturer and discovered that the alarm that I keep getting every few minutes, which requires me to shutdown the unit and then restart it, was an alarm when the unit's oxygen production falls below 50% minimum capacity (which is bad when you are trying to breathe) Of course, the person I spoke to stated that it was corporate policy not to immediately replace my POC with one that works correctly. As an aside, the manufacturer also informed me that the unit could be repaired at a repair facility in Las Vegas, Nevada - which NOT an option provided to me. I contacted another provider by phone and have arranged for TWO new units, on portable and one home based. Upon arrival, I will be breaking any and all ties with Lincare and their "corporate policies" which obviously include poor customer care and "profit above service" since the can charge additionally for oxygen bottle use. I will also be filing a complaint with a Medicare, Tricare, and the VA regarding these issues.
