WO had by far the best food of any place we visited. They moved from their home in Kingson to Washington Oaks together for the first two months. The staff - every one of them!!!, is kind and aware of the needs of the residents. Mom can walk long safe distances with their sky bridges. Physical therapy and Exercise class is on-site. As a result, she keeps strong and keeps walking despite a severe bilateral disability in her muscles. I am confident being here because assisted care is available should she need it. Shout out to Mark the awesome director!

More importantly, my Mom was impressed enough to sell her home in New Mexico and move to Washington Oakes, which is right in our neighborhood. Everyone you meet, staff and residents alike, are friendly and really seem to like it there. Many staff have been there a long time, which tells me the management puts as much emphasis on caring for their staff as they do their residents. The building itself is a wonderfully remodeled, historic school, truly a beautiful structure. The feeling it is cold, and everything is a clean. My mom is already enjoying participating in the activities, which there are many to choose from. We love Washington.Oakes, and Maricel is the BEST!

The nursing staff is good - I wish there was one more on at night. It is never ideal when your family member makes the decision (or it is made for them) to get some additional help in life but LCRI is great for offering a large menu of options to keep seniors entertained and social. My dad now rides in a men's ebike club all over town daily, scary I know but he is able to safely keep his independence. There is always something going on and the staff is really nice. The food was okay when my dad moved in and has gotten so much better... When I think about facilities for seniors, our family is happy our dad is here because he is happy he is here and has a full circle of friends.

Deborah is an extremely sweet, kind, and empathetic human who understands the anxiety we face when our loved ones need elderly assistance. She helped us navigate the process right from the beginning, giving us advice on many options. She was proactive with communication, checked in often, and spent time in person without being rushed. She didn't pressure us into anything, but rather looked out for our mom's best interest. The facility tour gave us the overall impression that the residents were very happy.

We were impressed enough to get on their waiting list for the future. The grounds are impressive for those people who enjoy recreating outdoors. The interior of what we call the "4 plexes", which are independent living, are absolutely beautiful and spacious. We have not yet tried their cuisine but have heard it's terrific. As a continuing care community, WB operates differently than most other senior housing places, so it's up to us to check out all the differences. They no longer offer skilled nursing or rehab as of this date, though they have a close relationship to a nearby rehab location. Despite being operated by a church organization WB appears to be welcoming to all. I checked out their Board of Directors and was really impressed with the depth of experience it represented. A friend and I have been touring a lot of senior housing complexes over the past several years and WB really stands out.

My mom's care could have been covered by Medicaid. I asked for a discount on the remaining balance given the wrong info that was provided by their new marketing person. This was refused. This is not a nursing home with nurses on site 24/7. As a result, we experienced delays in medication changes. This was not disclosed or explained. As a retired RN, I advocated for my mom. At times, this was met with resistance. However, ultimately, the communication and care improved during my mom's last days before her death.

There are resident dogs, cats, birds, fish and even some young children that come to work with a parent. This helps keep the atmosphere of being there full of life. They have fun, interesting activities and interactions that make each day for our loved ones better. They have a little store with all kinds of items (scarfs, blankets, jewelry, fun decorating items, some toiletries, etc.) that are free for residents to take and keep. They have a Bistro area inside the main entry that has snacks, juice, water and coffee available all day. They also use this area for residents to gather for exercise, crafting, games, musical entertainment, theme party days, discussions and a care giver reads the local newspaper daily. The entire staff are top notch. Compassionate, attentive, and ready to problem solve at any given moment. The care givers constantly work on keeping up with the personal hygiene of residents. There are so many call buttons throughout the facilities for residents and family to push for assistance. One or more care givers usually respond within a few minutes of activation. The entire facility is a 100 times more clean than the other 3 assisted living places we tried before Silverado (not even close). There hasn't been one time that I have been to visit family (twice a week) when there wasn't a cleaning crew making the rounds. We are so grateful to have found Silverado for our loved ones. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Silverado!

Our parents transitioned to Silverado Memory Care late last year. After nearly three years in three…read moreseparate residential situations and pretty horrible conditions, we nine adult kids were both relieved and gratified that they were finally in a caring and supportive environment that they had deserved all along. We were first attracted by the facility itself which is, even on a dark day, full of light, clean, and welcoming. There is a beautifully landscaped open courtyard and a variety of gathering spaces for residents and their families. The food is fresh and appealing; the bedrooms are roomy. But the real attraction is the staff. Silverado has what might be described as a deliberate "code of conduct" for its residents and staff. This means every resident is treated with gentle kindness and respect, even during challenging times. The staff seem to know everyone by name, their distinctive personalities and life experiences. They are constantly working to get everyone out of their rooms and engaged in an amazing panoply of experiences, which might include hearing the news of the day, listening to a live local band, arranging flowers, making fresh fruit skewers, engaging in light exercises and stretching, getting to know the resident cats and dogs, going to a sock hop, and celebrating holidays and special occasions. The residents are having fun, still enjoying life. The staff believes, like we do, that being an older person with memory problems doesn't mean that they shouldn't have a high quality of life or be diminished as human beings. Our parents have blossomed in this environment. When our mom was nearing the end of her life, they were solicitous towards her, making sure she was comfortable and felt loved, because she was. They supported us, her family, every step of the way, a rare positive gift during a difficult experience. Our dad is still going strong and thriving in the care of his own family and the one at Silverado. We are eternally grateful that both of our parents found their spot at last.
