Only a year ago, my father was still driving his truck around for shopping, dining and socializing. At 90 years old, he was doing very well, and was an inspiration to enjoy and share his effort to continue living in his home. Unfortunately, the 2020 Covid-19 experience dramatically changed Dad's routine, and with that, his overall abilities and health. We could only watch as his dementia advanced and he became physically frail from the lack of life giving initiative. He spiraled downward, resulting in two separate in-home incidents that required him to be admitted for skilled nursing and rehabilitative care. When he returned to his home in August, he was miserable and we were overwhelmed. Allowing Dad his wish(and demand) to return home was a tough decision, but one I was reminded by others that I was lucky to be making. Little did I realize just how tough it was going to be. Not only were the demands of timing and care a huge challenge to our lives, but they also seem to never be enough. And catching a break from the combined organizational tasks of preparing for the next fire or future arrangements was just a dream. For the health of us all, I needed to find help! To open up my approach to our situation, I had to discover the options available to taylor a course for my fathers immediate and future care. Upon considerable investigation of several recommended in-home health care professionals, I selected Right At Home to relieve us of some of my fathers needs. Upon speaking with Shalom, the owner of Right At Home, I was encouraged that he was very understanding of my situation. First I needed to be assured that Dad would receive professional and compassionate care. I needed to be assured that the caregivers would be punctual and trustworthy to share time with my father in his home-ALONE. AND I needed to feel that my financial arrangement was fair and competitive. Our experience with Right At Home has been exceptional. Shalom was certain to pair my needs with a member of his staff that fills all of our desires. Lucille is very punctual, and provides for my father like she was one of the family. I have both a Tabletop Care Booklet (self built) and a Daily Log Book that shares my experience with Dad's personal and household needs and desires, and requests input of her day with him. I am always appreciative to read how she shares the day with him, and fulfills daily chores to help maintain my fathers cleaning, laundering and tidiness. According to Dad, she is a PRETTY GOOD COOK, too! We are aware that things may change for Dad, and are currently working on some other plans to fortify keeping my father in his home for as long as possible. Finding Right At Home at just this right time is a blessing for us.
