Care quality was great from start to finish. Had a wonderful experience with the handling of my fathers needs.

Among other things, they neglected to take proper care of his catheter, which was confirmed by an ER nurse. He got a severe infection and became septic. The night he went to the ER, they actually called me to ask if I thought he should go. I asked about his stats, and although I'm not a doctor, it was pretty clear to me he needed immediate care. I said to send him. I was shocked that since they are supposed medical professionals, they didn't make this conclusion on their own. Unfortunately, he never recovered. During his short time at the hospital, it was discovered that he had severe bed sores. This was never communicated to us by O'Neill, and as far as I know, they did not try to treat them, just let them get worse. Before this most recent emergency, he made several other trips to the ER due to their negligence, including being infected by covid. To be somewhat fair, I've seen several nursing homes this year, and they are all bad. But, that is no excuse. I would never, ever recommend sending a loved one here. On top of all this, communication was terrible, and had I not gone there frequently to ask about his condition, no one would've reached out. Billing people were rude and even the social worker was of zero help. I would rather take my own life than be sent here for "care". Horrible and disgraceful.

So many smiles and cheer they bring to the residents. The activities are varied enough that there is something for everyone. The location is wonderful with so much within walking distance. My mother has had to move up through the care levels and it always feels like they customize her care to best fit her specific needs. It is truly a comfort to know she is cared for and a joy to visit Generations

UPDATE to my 7/5/2013 review (please see below)…read more Due to my parents requiring a greater level of care than BLT can provide, we looked far & wide to find something comparable. the search has confirmed just how wonderful BLT is. We also found that for the services offered, and quality of life, the price is very reasonable indeed! And the food quality at BLT is the best around. It's not your 'typical' institutional food. Not by a long shot! Fred, the food manager, does a FANTASTIC job of creating tasty balanced meals. My parents long for the good ol' days of living at BLT. Prior (original) review: 7/5/2013

My family totally believes our Father is dead because of O'Neils…read more He had only been there 3 weeks but he was being abused through neglect. The day my father died he called me and begged me to get him out of there as soon as possible. I quote "They are going to kill me in here" he told me over the phone. Shocked, I asked him how he felt and he said fine but they were neglecting him. I reassured him that I was going to get him out the following week. He then told me his neighbor had just arrived to visit him so I said goodbye and that I would call him the next day. That didn't happen because he was dead 12 hours later. The neighbor was shocked when he found out my father died and told me my father looked like he was well enough to walk right out of the place with no signs of illness or cognitive decline. Turns out my father caught Covid in the place and wasn't given any Covid medicine even though they knew he had tested positive and Covid medicine was available at that point in late 2022. Nor was it brought to our attention that it was anything but a mild case. His oxygen dropped later that night. The home assured my sister that they were treating him and things were steady but at some point they reached out to my other sister who was the POA to ask if they could send him to the hospital. My sister, the POS she is, told her husband to take the call because she couldn't be bothered and my brother-in-law who is not the POA told the hospital to give my father "Comfort Care" instead of sending him to the hospital. The home listened and administered a Morphine mixture and Dad fell asleep and died soon after. My nephew, who is a police officer, was the first to arrive and questioned the home. They told him my father was awake and joking with staff when given the Morphine mixture. This is a direct violation of law. My father was of sound mind and was given "Comfort Care" without his permission or knowledge. This was also a directive given by someone who was not the POA. When I called the home after hearing my father passed the nurse told me my father had a DNR in place. I explained to her my father was not on life support and giving Morphine was not the same as a DNR. She told me Covid wasn't flagged in his chart but he died of "Covid Pneumonia", funny because that wasn't on his death certificate. She also told me I could call back and speak to the attending nurse to find out more about what happened but when I did call back I was met with an ice cold " The medical records are closed." No one at the home that I spoke with on the phone following my father's death ever expressed any condolences for the passing of my loved one at their very expensive facility. And that was that.....my family was allowed no more info. Now let's get the the condition of care or lack of: Unfortunately, I'm out of state but my father was visited by family. My cousin, a prominent first responder in the community, told me that when he went to visit my father he was covered in feces and urine. He immediately went to tell the nurse who told him that it "wasn't her job" to change him and the sheets. My cousin then got mad and started to do it himself before the nurse reluctantly stepped in to help. He told me that he has seen the worst of the worst of homes over the years as a first responder and this was one of them the worst. Now my father was weak from being in a hospital bed and he was sent to O'Neils for rehabilitation. Because of staff shortage he did not get the care that was promised. A week before my father died he called to tell me that he was left wet and naked in a chair for hours, freezing cold after a nurse left quickly after she helped him out of the shower. He said his walker was on the other side of the room and there was nothing to lean on. He hadn't eaten breakfast so he had no choice but to wait for her to come back. She never did and he was found later freezing still sitting in the chair naked. Oh there is a horrible person that works for them named Thomas who was callus and condescending when I tried to inquire about the shocking turn of events that lead up to my father's death. Don't send anyone you love here!

The nursing staff was responsive to his every need and checked on him frequently. The pastoral care he received was equally wonderful. Sister Margaret Mary, in particular, was so warm and loving toward him, and I was touched by her kindness. I'm sure she brought him much comfort! In addition, I was pleasantly surprised by how the staff took such good care of my family and I while we kept vigil in my dad's room. Between my brother, my mom and myself, we never left his side on the weekend he passed. The staff saw to it that I had a pillow and blanket to keep me comfortable while I slept there overnight, and they also brought me a phone charger when I needed it. One day, a staff member cooked my mom a grilled cheese sandwich just for her, because she knew she needed to eat. They promised us they would do anything they could for us, and they certainly did! When my dad passed away, we were all given a hug by our wonderful nurse, and given reassurance that he was no longer in pain. I could tell that one of the other nurses present was fighting back tears, which touched me, as well, knowing that I was not alone in my grief. I really just can't say enough good things about the wonderful people working there who make it their mission to provide comfort and care to their patients and their families. And the facility, itself, is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. Nobody wants to have to bring their loved one to a hospice, but if you should find yourself looking for a facility to provide palliative care for your family member, you really couldn't ask for a place better than Holy Family.
