I recently visited with a group of 12 friends to celebrate a birthday so we had pre booked the table and already chosen our main courses and starters,which seems to be the norm these days and doesn't bother me,everybody's meals were delicious and definitely home cooked. I had the lasagna and it was superb,really tasty and a large portion served with a hearty portion of chips and a fresh side salad. The deserts were very nice!!!my raspberry roulade and ice cream was gorgeous. Prices are very reasonable and the service is first class,so I highly recommend you visit for a nice evening out that wont break the bank!!!

The decor and exterior upkeep is untidy and dated and what seems at first like a cosy atmosphere can become cliquey and make outsiders feel a little unwelcome. The landlord is also the head chef and waiter and has an unusual tone that can be considered friendly or rude depending on your interpretation! The food is all fresh and tasty, but a little overpriced for the surroundings and the presentation (matching plates anyone?) leaves a lot to be desired. A decent enough place if you're stuck for a seat anywhere else but for a romantic meal or special dinner, carry on towards Pontypool.
