“Strange placement of tee boxes meant doubling back often to get to the ladies tees - something totally foreign to us.”

The view alone is worth the visit to Lakota Canyon. Most tee boxes are elevated (sometimes dropping…read more100 feet down to the fairway) and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery virtually on every whole. Of course, the scenery is not the only thing Lakota Canyon offers. The layout is very interesting and challenging. When I played, greens were super super difficult. It is very hard to find the flat surface on the green and if you miss your putt by too much, be prepared to add 3+ more strokes on your scorecard. Having said that, the difficult green does not make you frustrated at all. It is more along the line of amazing, creative, and, best of all, fun. I especially love that the course is very fair for ladies. I have played several courses in CO and many offer great views and great golf for men but not for ladies. Often, ladies' tee boxes offer no view nor challenges; just an after-thought... At Lakota Canyon, the view is not only great from the back tees, but from ladies' tees as well. The challenges you face in the game are similar between tee boxes as well. If you are a golfer and if you ever visit CO, please make effort to play this course. If my review convinced you to play at Lakota Canyon, you will thank me when you do.

I used to have nothing but great things to say about Tiara Rado Golf Course, but that opinion has…read morechanged drastically, and I was proven wrong. My group and I have golfed at this course multiple times and LOVED it! Our last visit was probably the worst interaction I have ever had with a business in my entire life. People make mistakes which is understandable because we are humans. It was not busy and our group got holes #13 and #16 mixed up because they are right next to each other, an easy mistake that I am sure others have made before too. We tried to correct the mistake as seamlessly as possible to avoid disrupting the other golfers (wasn't very busy but now it makes sense knowing how people are treated here.) We decided to skip the hole we missed and continue on our way ensuring the people in front of us were okay with that and behind us. While we are waiting the marshall comes up and I kid you not shoved his finger in one of our faces and is just screaming profanities and being so aggressive. I have never seen somebody act like that and I thought he might be having a medical emergency based on his behavior. While I do know that some people do not know how to control themselves or speak to others in a human way I could not even justify the behavior demonstrated by the marshall. He would not even let our group say a word to explain the mistake which could've cleared up the entire problem. He chose to instead scream and disrupt every person on the back 9 who was trying to play. He went away after people came up trying to defend our group and get him to stop. Once again he drove up when he saw we were alone and decided it would be professional to continue yelling at us, once again, at that point, we were not doing anything wrong. The group behind us ended up joining ours, so we can just hurry up and get out of there. Once we finished, we went into the pro shop to see if there was somebody to talk to about his behavior. He was waiting there for us and still was aggressive, he is quoted telling me, "Don't shake your head like you know," once again talking down on us, targeting a woman. He chose to stand there and laugh and smile while our group expressed our concerns in a respectful manner. He chose to pick on our group and take his anger out on us for lord knows why. We were greeted with no respect here, and it honestly shocked me. We decided to leave and just get the director of golf's information, and once again the marshall, Woody's, behavior was completely dismissed and ignored. If a place allows a staff member to treat their customers like that I want no part in supporting that business. I am appalled at the behavior and actions of the staff at this course. If you feel like getting yelled at and degraded by a staff member this is the course for you! I also want to add that a Marshell's job is supposed to be to monitor the pace of play around the course. It took us 7 hours to finish 18 holes of golf. So on top of rude and aggressive treatment clearly the marshall isn't doing his job. Maybe a training on professionalism is needed.

Many greens and tee boxes are too close for average golfers, balls were cross crossing lots of holes. There was a cart on the course. A lot of par 4s where unreachable in regulation. The course was in good condition but a difficult layout.

Played many rounds of golf at this course over the years, one of favorite. I have to say that the…read morecourse is better in the spring than in the middle of summer. The greens are softer in spring and sometimes the fall, however not always in the fall. These greens are very fast almost all year round but better in the spring and fall. Summer golfing here in the height of summer is very hot, very hot. I perfer to play this great course for spring and fall as it will not be so busy nor will it be that hot. Living in the Vail valley means a very short season to play. Price over all is the best in the Vail valley, not as expensive as the up valley courses. Late season and early season prices are very resonable and the golfing is quite good. This course is the only one open during that time. Best holes are 13 and the par 3 that plays down hill hitting down about two stories, very fun. The big complaint. The ground squirrels and there holes. I have lost so many balls from the hole these little guy make that it just sucks. Sometimes when you are having a good round and you lose a ball for no reason is get under your skin. I understand the course workers can do very little to keep up with the squirrels as they breed two time a year and the that makes it very hard to ERADICATE the littles guys.
