Please also see my see my older reviews under the Ridges Sanctuary. This is a lovely natural area with easy boardwalk and flat packed dirt trails. There are many swales with frogs and turtles and tons of wildflowers including so many dwarf irises! It's great seeing those doing so well here. 7 years ago they were excited about one small patch, and now they're everywhere! We even saw some wild orchids. This is a great spot for an easy, relaxing walk in a beautiful setting. Entry is $5 per person and parking is easy during non-peak times.

They have completely rebuilt the fire tower adding an accessible ramp. While we are able to climb stairs, we enjoyed the ramp a great deal. I'm not a huge fan of open stairs and found this wide ramp that is intended for both wheelchair users and walkers to be a very pleasant way to reach the viewing platform and return to ground level. The view from the top is amazing on a clear day. We also walked part of the sunset bike trail as an out and back which was lovely. We started at the beach, headed toward the lighthouse and continued on to the bluffs/cliffs before turning around. It was about 6 miles round trip and had lots of wildflowers and beaches along the way. This is a great trail for anyone who doesn't want to navigate a lot of tree roots or rocks. Other updates: The lighthouse is being refurbished and is scheduled to reopen later in June 2026. There are now food trucks near the beach if you don't feel like bringing a picnic lunch!

It's definitely more of a park than a beach. Come at sunset and the ambiance is just lovely and everyone seemed to really respect the area. There aren't many benches or places to sit so you may find yourself standing for a bit to watch the sunset. If you're feeling adventurous, you can climb around the barrier to walk down and sit on the stone shore for a more intimate view. Very romantic place for our anniversary!

It is an amazing spot to catch the sunset over the bay, read a book, write, meditate, chat, etc! It is not a beach in the sense of warm, golden sand between your toes; however, there is a path that leads you to the water's edge. Parking can be a bit tight on the small road so I suggest parking a little further away and walking, especially in the warm weather months. A Door County gem!

This is a great park for finding some peace and quiet in nature including no cell service in much of the park. I mean the SOS function will still work if an emergency arose, but there will be no incoming texts or notifications to detract from the birds and sounds of the waves. All of the trails are lovely here and they're all easy so no worries if you're not a seasoned hiker. We saw some mergansers on the lake during this visit and, as usual, lots of garter snakes which are fun to watch. We usually bring a picnic lunch to enjoy by the beach after a morning of hiking and never have trouble getting a table. Pro tip: there are flush toilets in the visitor center!

We stopped in here on a cloudy Saturday afternoon to rent e-bikes. The staff was very friendly and…read morehelpful at showing us a good route to take and how to use the bikes since we were not doing a tour with them. We biked on the recommended route all the way down to whitefish dunes park and back. We used the highest setting possible so we were able to get a lot of miles in. It was absolutely beautiful. We went an hour and a half longer than our scheduled time and the staff was super chill and accommodating about that, and provided good local recommendations on things to do afterwards. Would definitely recommend this spot to anyone looking for a fun activity to do.

we booked 6/20 12-2 cave kayak tour for 4 people. we got there at 1130 as stated in the email, then…read morewere told we were too early. we returned at 1145, then waited until about 1215 to load the bus because we were missing another group who never showed. we got on the water around 1230/1245, then at 1:29 we're told we need to cut the trip short and turn around due to white caps in the water. although, no other group turned around, and new groups were continuing to depart. we were told by our tour guide Anna, that because the trip was cut short and we didn't make it to the caves, we would be refunded some of the trip. upon check out, we were charged the entire total and told she needed to speak with managment. we called the next day, and the manager stated "well this is the first time I heard of this" as if it was our responsibility to alert the company. she agreed to refund us $180 (half of the trip). I received the refund, then 2 days later, was charged $180 by them and they took the refund back? I called and left a voicemail but have not heard back. would recommend choosing a different company!!!!!!

Door Bluff Headlands was an unexpected find during my visit to Door County. It's off the beaten…read morepath, with just a small turnaround/parking area, a portable toilet and some trails. The trails take you along the bluffs overlooking the water, and meander inland. There isn't signage and I'll admit that I ended up taking a bit longer of a hike that I planned on because I lost track of where I was. Because of it's location and amenities, you're not likely to encounter a lot of other people on your hike (but the ones I did were friendly). There was some fog on the day I visited, which gave the trail and view of the lake a mysterious air, and I joked that it looked like I'd found the edge of the map as the view just disappeared a short way out into the water. Per a handwritten sign on one of the trees, the park is also home to the highest point in Door County!

Read through the reviews to get an idea of the trail and any markings. We did not and gave up…read moreafter 15 minutes as we had no idea where the trail was taking us. Other than that if you like paths through trees that go up and down then this is for you.

This is a lovely park, and since my last visit they have rebuilt the access to the beach that is near the parking lot. They've also added a blue mat that makes it easy to walk along the beach between entrance 1 and 2. The beach is beautiful and a great place to look for fossils. After climbing back up to the trail at the second access point a park employee alerted us to the presence of orange slime mold on some stumps. Apparently it is a rare phenomenon and the bright orange goop is actually a collection of harmless amoebas. I learn something on every vacation! We hiked the loop and then continued on the new connection to Cave Point Country Park which made for a really nice half day hike!
