Each SUV could have held only 3 to 4 people at most. One van was absolutely filthy and smelled revolting. The driver said he couldn't do anything about wiping off the seat! We are all 55+ and the drivers did nothing to help the 10 of us get into their small SUVs. In the pouring rain, they were trying to figure out how to fit us all in by moving everyone out of the backseat and trying to fit people in what they considered to be extra seating in a practically non-existent back row. There was about 2 inches of space when they moved the backseat up to fit more people in the back (um 1!) and two of my friends/ neighbors were actually hurt One with severe cuts and bruises on her leg. I swore I would never have that happen again. So, when I was at Rehoboth Beach and wanted to go to BWI Airport to pick up a friend I decided to call Kent Island Express. I called over an hour in advance and we planned to meet up at a middle school near the Bridge. A polite young woman named Brittany drove my car over the bridge. It was all A-OK. We stopped at the SHA office immediately after the bridge and I took over the wheel. They take cash or credit card and the fee is $35. This service was smooth, easy, and well worth every dollar. There were three of us, on one tandem and one single bike, and one of us had an injury so we tried to get them to pick us up closer to Annapolis, but absolutely not (there were some kind of "rules"). So we biked to the last exit before the bridge, wait a half hour. The driver and a grossly obese woman show up, and make no attempt to wear masks in the midst of a global pandemic. The driver took reasonable care in putting the bikes in the back of his pickup truck which was a short bed, but I had to make sure there was a cloth between the bike frames and the sides of the truck. The bikes were fine, and we get crammed with our gear into the back of the pickup for the ride across the bridge. The driver was pleasant and courteous but the woman ran the show, and refused to drop us at our hotel in Kent Narrows, where we had been told we would be taken and where their web page said was part of their service. We even offered more money to take us the extra 5 miles since it was now getting dark. The woman adamantly refused. Instead, we get dropped at the first possible place after the bridge, a gas station along the highway. To add insult to injury she urges us to hurry up as she clutches a wad of cash in her pudgy fingers. She also refused to give a receipt so connect the dots on that one. Service with a scowl.
