It wasn't my first Nia class…read more In fact, I'd done a lot of Nia with great teachers, and even took my white belt training (which at the time, was the teacher training) for Nia. Nia is amazing, and each teacher brings their own energy to the practice. In fact, if you have tried Nia and didn't love it, I recommend trying another teacher or more. It's more about the right fit for you than it is about "good" and "bad" teachers. So, Jenn Hicks. She's amazing. She's not shy about sharing her personal story online and the struggles that lead her to Nia. She has a passion for mental health and celebrating the bodies we have. Jenn understands and loves it when you take care of yourself, so there is no pressure to keep up or do anything that doesn't feel right. If I need to slow a move down, or take a break, I know that Jenn respects and encourages that. I feel like she creates a safe place where I can show up, as I am, and dance from there. All of me is welcome here. You can be gentle. That said, if I wanted to pump things up and really work it, there is no one better than Jenn Hicks. That girl has more energy than anyone I know. She has a blast while she teaches and her enthusiasm is contagious. If you want a great workout that rocks your cardio while being kind to your body, this is the class. If I could describe her classes in two words, sexy and sweaty come to mind. The kind of sexy that is barefoot and strong. I often laugh out loud in her classes as well. And I love the music she chooses. It's all over the place, but always fun. Jenn is super playful but don't be fooled -- that woman is a powerhouse of wisdom. You'll be in good hands, and likely leave loving your body a little more.

I too, did not know what to expect. But, having taken Zumba classes at the Joy of Dance (and loved…read morethem), and it being 5 mins away from my home, I wanted to try it. Just a few minutes into my first class, I found myself loving it. It's a great addition to my work out routine. The no pressure, feel-good approach works for me, and yet I still get a great workout. Jenn's positive attitude and warm personality just adds to the overall feeling of enjoyment. I will continue with Nia and hope to reap the benefits for a long time to come.

I first took advantage of the…read moresummer promotion in 2015, before trying out other gyms in the financial district (Equinox, Fuel trainIng, CrossFit 416, Soulcycle, F45, Sweat & Tonic, etc). After trying out these gyms, I came to the conclusion that Adelaide Club is the best bang for your buck and also the most conveniently location. I personally like CrossFit style workout and Adelaide's StregthLab program is exactly what I need: a CrossFit style program inside a gym, allowing me to do some Strenth and Conditioning workout, while enjoying the other perks in the club (yoga, cycling, squash, towel services, steam room, etc.) Note that the StregthLab program and squash are not included on the basic membership. Having said that, it's still cheaper than any other CrossFit gyms. Also, another benefits at the Adelaide's StrengthLab program is that the workout are tailored to office athletes; heavy lifts and complex gymnastic movements are not part of the workout (muscle-ups, overhead squat, etc). Another perk of the club is that members get to enjoy reciprocal access to other exclusive clubs across Canada and abroad (private golf clubs, tennis club, other high end gyms in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary)

I have mixed opinions about this place...while there are incredible friendly and hard working…read morepeople working here, there are also the opposite...the place is clean and by in large fairly comfortable to use. However a business is only as good as its worst employee? And there are a few making the rest look bad. I don't understand someone stating this place is too cold? I find it too warm all the time...it's easier to warm yourself by wearing appropriate clothes! Cooling is however much more difficult to achieve... Some are going to find the membership a bit expensive... I am aware that this place is not going to be the "perfect place for everyone" but at least I notice there are many people working here doing their best to insure my and others experience while here is a pleasant one....

When I signed up, the staff member asked if I wanted a tour of the facility. I said yes. He then asked whether I wanted the tour before or after signing the membership agreement, and I chose after signing. However, once the paperwork was finished, he simply told me to go and look around by myself. That was my very first time ever joining a gym or fitness centre, so I had no idea where anything was or how the facility worked. I expected someone to spend a few minutes showing me around, explaining the different areas, and helping me feel comfortable. I also have a significant vision impairment, although I didn't mention it at the time. Even so, I believe every new member deserves a proper introduction to the facility, regardless of whether they ask for additional assistance. A warm welcome and a simple tour can make a huge difference. Unfortunately, because of that first impression, I never returned and have decided to cancel my membership. I'll be looking for a fitness centre where new members are made to feel welcome from the moment they walk through the door.

I went to this gym because of groupon deal. I got groupon for 10 classes yoga for around 30…read more Definitely a good deal. The groupon takes a bit trouble to activate. I need to go to the gym first in person, then I can book classes online. I love the aerial yoga and used all my classes towards aerial yoga. However, I think the booking system is a bit difficult to use. I think they give away too many groupons that it became difficult to get into the class. It is either waitlist or the sign up does not open to public somehow. There are some cases where too many students in the class and not enough swings available. I would suggest to download the Mind Body mobile app to make the sign up and cancel a bit easier.

I wanted to attend an aerial class the same day of the activation and based on the hours indicated on the site, I had called the gym right at the opening time. I had called 3 times within 30 minutes and nobody picked up. I went to the gym before the yoga class started and explained my situation....turned out the website was not updated. I've been to other aerial classes at another studio, and the classes offered at Cardio go are extremely fast paced. These classes are definitely not for beginners. They are trying to cram way too many people into one space and it is definitely not safe. With that being said, this was my first class at this location, and the girl beside me fell on her head while we were flipping upside down. However, the pilate classes offered at 200 Front St is amazing. Melissa is an amazing, funny, and ensures that all her students are doing each move correctly. I would definitely recommend going to this class.

These classes are great workout!…read more I do not look as graceful as the instructors, but I leave the class feeling like I have worked hard... with that perfect tired but energized post work out feeling .. Plus .. if you go to the early morning class, there is like no one there!

This uptown boutique barre studio has been open a little under two months now, and as someone who…read moreheard about it through word of mouth, I REALLY like it. The space is clean, sleek and bright. There's a shower there, as well as some lockers to store your things. (And, if I understand correctly, there's a small childminding service available while you work out.) The owners - a husband-and-wife team - are great, too. They're super-friendly, and helpful if you've got questions. There are 7 types of barre/ballet classes (plus a ballet-fusion class for kids), and sessions are offered much most times of the day, every day of the week. The weekends *are* - understandably - busier than weekday mornings. (And I heard that classes were full throughout Easter weekend.) But as someone with an alternative schedule (I work weekends and am off weekdays), I like the fact it's *not* crowded early weekday mornings. The instructors (I've had classes with Marvin, Dave and Rochelle) - are great. They're super-helpful - talking you through/demonstrating exercises, and helping you to correct your body to feel the full effect of the exercises. (If you're an early riser, or attend a class that's sparsely attended, you might get more attentive instruction.) They're even there to answer questions about stretching, etc. For anyone unsure of which barre studio to choose (there are now two, with Barreworks opening its uptown location), I would invite anyone to try out a class or two at Barre Beautiful before deciding. I think it's worth it.

The gym has plenty of equipment for all your cardio and strength workouts as well as has a large variety of group classes ranging from pilates, boxing, spin, yoga, and even barre. There is also personal training, a spa, sauna, and their clothing shop as well. There is also an IQ Food Co for your post-workout smoothies and healthy eats. This particular review is for a sculpted yoga class I was able to attend at Equinox. I can't comment on the membership prices since the class was a free event held at Equinox, however, I still had access to the entire gym after the yoga class. This particular location on Bay St. is inside Commerce Court West where you have to take an elevator up to the 3rd floor to access the gym. Upon entering you immediately face the reception area. The lighting of the gym at first when you enter is dark and moody. The areas with the machines are well lit and the yoga room overlooks the corner of Bay/King. The change rooms are big where there are plenty of lockers available. You are able to find the steam room, showers, and washrooms inside the changeroom. There is ample space to change and shower after your workout. Everything I needed for the yoga class was provided. The room is not heated. The spacing of the mats are generous where there is ample room for everyone to move. The instructor we had was clear with her instructions and the workout was fun. After class we were provided with cool refreshing towels. Overall, the gym is clean and provides many amenities with all the workout equipment and machines you can think of. The space is nice and definitely caters to a certain type of clientele. Location is in the heart of the financial district as well making it easy for anyone in the downtown core to access.
