Long story short, by the time we hit the car wash here it had been several hours. We went thru the automatic and it did the best it could considering the bake period by the sun. We used some paper towels we wet with the excess water left in some clean areas on the car to get the rest off. All in all, considering what the automatic had to deal with on our car, it did a good job. Glad there was a car wash on the island! The entire car wash facility is very clean and well kept too. A freakin' car wash. you. have. got. to. be. KIDDING ME. Well, two minutes later, and some disco lights my car had the last laugh. The wheels, which never get clean from the awful brake dust were gleaming and I didn't have to lay a hand on them. And an assistant comes with the price to give your car a thorough pre-treatment, removing baked on bug carcasses, leaves and pine needles. Nice little attention to details are free vacuum bays plenty and powerful and with a long hose. The carwash was FUN I won't spoil the surprise. But take the kids for a few minutes of fun.

If you're expecting every tiny speck, scratch, and stain to disappear, your expectations probably aren't realistic. For the money, especially the Manager's Special, you get excellent value. It includes the basic service--prep wash, machine wash, underbody rinse, towel dry, wheel cleaning, interior vacuuming, window cleaning, dusting, and door jambs--plus a coat of polish, fragrance, and tire gloss. That's a lot more than you get from a typical drive-through wash where you sit in your car for three minutes and leave with a wet vehicle. I also appreciate that they offer additional services like steam cleaning, leather conditioning, hand waxing, and bug, sand, pet hair, and pollen removal if your vehicle needs extra attention. They make it clear they're willing to accommodate special requests whenever possible. What keeps me coming back is the staff. They're friendly, professional, and they work hard. On a hot, humid North Carolina day, these folks are outside cleaning vehicles one after another, and it shows they genuinely try to do a good job. Is every wash absolutely perfect? No. But compared to several other car washes I've tried around Wilmington, Coastal consistently does a better job and provides better value. One final thought: please tip the crew. They're working in the heat and humidity, moving quickly from vehicle to vehicle, and a few extra dollars is a small way to recognize the effort they put into taking care of your car. I would have given zero if that were a choice because they didn't even show the respect of responding to my email: Dear Coastal Car Wash Management, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding a highly unsatisfactory experience I had at your Monkey Junction location today, 9-8-26, at approximately 1:10pm. As a customer, I expect a standard of service and professionalism that was entirely absent during my visit. Specifically, when I arrived there was a closed sign in the entrance lane stating the car wash was closed due to employees being at lunch and would reopen at 1:30pm. While it was slightly frustrating because Coastal's online website doesn't mention that it closes at 1:00pm for employee lunch, it wasn't going to be that long of a wait until 1:30pm, so I decided to stay. I was first in line behind the closed sign and as I waited there, several more cars pulled up behind me. After a few minutes, an employee came out and advised me that when the employees returned from lunch they wouldn't be able to turn their cars around and park, so we needed to move. He was friendly and when I asked about losing my place as first in line he said he was telling everyone to move. I moved, went around the building and then parked. As I was waiting in my parking spot, more cars pulled in and lined up behind the closed sign where I had originally been. No one told them to move. Then, a woman pulled up, left her car in the line and went inside. An employee came out with her and they were standing at her car talking. I could hear that he was going to take her car right away and start working on it. As I had been first in line and told to move, I felt that wasn't fair....but, the gentleman may not have realized so I said a few times, "Sir, excuse me, Sir?". He completely ignored me, so I very gently beeped my horn - seriously, barely at all. I just wanted to get his attention before he drove off with her car so I could ensure he knew I had been first in line, but told to move. He immediately turned towards me with an angry face and sharply said, "I'm with a customer!!". He then got in her car, drove it around the closed sign to the other side of the building and employees began working on it. That was the last straw. I left and went to a competitor where I was treated kindly and with respect. I even ended up purchasing a membership there. I will never go back to your establishment again. I worked at Citibank in CA for 42 years and attended to clients every single day. Never would I have treated a customer the way I was treated at your business today. Now on first look pulling in it seems like they only have two options. Tad bit pricey and a tad bit expensive. Until you get closer and You find that they actually have a lot more options and cheaper. Which is great because in a rental I don't need to get the Rolls Royce car wash package. I just need it clean and shiny. Now it is a brush wash not brushless for anyone wondering. The guys were great and it took no time at all before we were out the other side and ready to go! They have free vacuums too which is a plus. I highly recommend them for all you car wash needs.

It could do a slightly better job washing off the soap and windex and towels only seemed to be available on the weekend during the day. As with all of these types of washes, the dryer doesn't really get the vehicle dry at all. I liked that it was touchless since I have a new car. It got the sand and bird droppings off my car every time and I liked being able to vacuum the car. There isn't a mat wash, if that is something you want. I cancelled my subscription because I'm moving. I will update my review if there's any issues with that next month.
