I can't say enough good things about Doug Riddell. I found Doug online after receiving a traffic violation from a township police officer that I didn't think was fair. I entered my info on his website on a Saturday morning, and that same afternoon (on a Saturday!) I got a call back from him. Nice guy. Good guy. Very clear communicator. Told me what he thought he could do for me, but set my expectations rationally. His price was fair, and his fee was fixed regardless of whether it took him one court appearance in the township Mayor's Court or if we needed to transfer (appeal) it in to the county court. As it turned out, we needed to transfer it. So Doug worked on the case for about 5-6 weeks, all for his fair fixed fee. In the end he was able to do exactly what he thought he would. I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER. Doug is a really good guy (not something you'll often hear about an attorney). He does what he says he will. He's a clear communicator, he sets expectations clearly, then he follows up and follows through. I hope I don't need him again soon, but if I do, I'm 1000% positive who I'll call. Doug Riddell took my case, and his wife went to sentencing with me. I appreciated their knowledge of different prosecutors and judges. It helped me know what I was facing. I thought I was was making a good decision with this lawyer, he has so many achievements listed. I was wrong. I think Riddell Law took on more cases than they should have at the time they took on mine. I have a charge on my record that probably shouldn't be there. The prosecutor told Doug that I was "just over the limit" but they were offering me a deal, Reckless Operation. I had had a couple of drinks earlier in the evening but had quit, I thought it may be possible I was still over. I felt fine, but alcohol is tricky. At sentencing, the judge asked the prosecutor what my BAC was, it was .07, which is just under the limit. I mentioned it afterwards, I was confused. Looking back, after talking with a couple attorneys, I don't believe Riddell Law did their due diligence in my case, didn't look at the result of my urinalysis. They prosecutor lied to my attorney, maybe, but they should have looked over my test anyways. In addition to this, when I went to get my probation lifted, as I head visiting my family overseas, Doug came with me. The judge wasn't happy anyways, but Doug mixed up my details. He told the judge I was moving out of state. I think maybe the firm took on too much, but there were serious errors, potentially malpractice according to a lawyer I spoke with. I was young and scared. I didn't know what was normal. I even thought the prosecutor was cutting me a break by telling the judge a lower BAC, but there's no way a prosecutor would lie in court, under oath. Anyways, I wish and will always wish I went with a different attorney. read more
