A coffee maker, small fridge/freezer combo, and microwave are provided. The a/c/heater combo works well. Make sure to bring your own coffee (ground), breakfast food, and a pillow if you like more than 1 or 2. The motel and area are still recovering from Hurrican Ida, but it was great to go fishing in the area again. We lost our camp during the hurricane, and this is the first time we have been back to fish. We will be back in the summer.

The place smells of mildew and mold, which you can see on the ceiling, walls, and around the refrigerator. The beds are hard and uncomfortable. The reclining chairs haven't been replaced probably since the 80s. When you turn on the water in the bathroom there is the most foul smell that comes up from the sink I have ever smelled. Not to mention that the water that drains from the sink and the shower, drains directly to the ground below which you can see if you look down the shower drain. The list can go on and on. A tent on the beach would be better than staying in this place.

Our room was rustic but had everything we needed and it was very clean. We had never been to Grand Isle before, but after driving by some of the places that we researched and considered staying at, we were very happy that we chose Wateredge. One disappointment is that the sand dune blocked our direct view of the Gulf, but beach was just a short walk over dune. However, even if we didn't get a 5 star high-end hotel (which you don't expect on Grand Isle anyway), we were given 5 star and more treatment, by Jerry the Property Manager, which made our stay awesome! Jerry was accessible whenever we needed him and was very visable around the entire property and interacting with the other people staying at the resort. But, it wasn't just the property he managed, he provided services way above and beyond. When we arrived he met us at our car, we were early and still cleaning room but he stayed a spoke with us for a good while making us feel right at home. He gave us a little orientation to the area, and told us whenever we want to go crabbing he had everything we needed to get set up and let him know and he would help us with everything and that there was everything ready and available to clean fish, boil crabs, etc, and he would help us with whatever we need. Our first evening we arrived, the surf was too rough for us to go out in with our son. But, a group of men staying at the resort went crabbing and we watched them for awhile. Jerry helped them set up the crabbing line and for about 3 hours in the rough surf helped them catch a load of crabs. They worked hard because the surf was really rough. Then he helped them get set up and to boil the crabs. A little later we received a knock on our door and there was Jerry and one of the group with several dozen boiled crabs for us to have-how incredibly considerate...AND delicious. The next evening we wanted to take our son crabbing for the first the time. Jerry came and helped us set up the crab lines and again the surf was rough. That day the crabs weren't running too well. But, Jerry knew that it was my son's first time, he was patient with him and took the time to instruct him on best way to get crabs, and he worked with us for a 2-3 hours just so that we could get enough crabs to boil. THEN, he helped us to get everything ready and stayed with us while we boiled our crabs. My family has never received such personal service at ANY hotel.

This review is to warn families with children, not adults looking for a "fish camp." Our biggest complaint is that there was a domestic situation near our room, the neighboring room, where a lady was literally screaming curse words all night and my 4,9,10 year old could hear it all and kept waking up. She kept calling the boyfriend or partner a "N" word, which I have never heard someone scream at someone in my life and bothered me to hear. I was woken up to profound yelling /screaming at least 6 times from 11pm to 6 am. This is an older motel, pretty beat up and some cosmetic damage inside that is not pictured online. Personally, I don't care. The beds were fine, but if you aim for hotels 3-5 stars, just know this will be similar to a motel 8..There is a clutter appearance outside. My biggest concern was if that crazy lady who was in the neighboring room had a gun, she was so nuts acting, that we could get shot through the walls. I have never wondered that in my life before. This place would be fine for adults with low expectations , but be warned, the walls are paper thin especially for screaming neighbors. There was vomit on the way out from someone's dog. Again I am sorry to leave a bad review, but it is not family friendly. I do recommend the owner get rid of that lady because there is clearly domestic violence going on from her, and anyone who stays in the rooms beside them will be miserable unless they are in a coma when they sleep or deaf. If you're looking to go to grand isle but want a cheaper lodging and don't mind driving a few minutes to the beach, you'll love this place.

TV is a 15" computer monitor beds have plastic under sheets so it crinkles all night. an added bonus ... some one at the "die" on the bathroom mirror with soap, it showed up after a shower (shower only good thing nice water pressure out of that 1962 shower head) the door locks but if you just bump it or yank the handle from the outside it opens. please pleas someone shut this train wreck down so I never have to stay here again. oh and no worries about getting up early the blinds do not fit the window and light and or psycho can see in all night long. if you have to stay here bring the Glock.
