Went for a simple tire change. Car has splitters on front bumper which they promptly broke when one…read moreof the employees took the car for a drive. The entrance to their premises has a moderately steep change in gradient which was the likely culprit. This could have been easily avoidable had they taken the time and care to simply angle the vehicle appropriately and go slowly when exiting their driveway (as I was able to do quite effortlessly the previous day and as I do at various other places). No real apologies on site, merely that the splitters were already a bit loose and fell off 'somewhere in the parking lot'. Force of the impact on the splitter also damaged the paint on the underlying bumper. Luckily the splitters were only affixed with double sided tape meaning that the impact detached them as opposed to putting more stress and potentially causing more damage to bumper. Tyre change itself was as expected but really not worth it if you factor in the extra cost you'll have to spend when they recklessly drive your car and cause paint damage. Would avoid this place.

I rang Bob Jane in Slacks Creek, and someone answered the phone after a few rings, which is better than most tyre shops! The guy was polite and was very helpful. Tyre price was average as I found out the price difference between tyre shops seems to be around $10. Wheel alignment price was twice what I could get around the corner in Allgas Street. The guy did give me a discount on the wheel alignment and I took it even though it was still about $20 more expensive than what I could get around the corner. I needed 2 tyres, and if I bought a wheel alignment, I was given the Longlife Tyre Programme. If you don't know what it is, you can read about it on Bob Jane's website. I figured it is probably worth $20. In conclusion, service was good and on time, price was average. I don't know much about cars, but my car runs smoother now, so I think they must have done a good job.

It developed a problem (which perhaps ) could have been at the June 18 service. On Monday I explained the situation to Gideon (The Manager) who was extremely courteous and professional. On Monday afternoon I dropped the car in. At 4.30pm on Tuesday afternoon I received a text from KMartAuto to say the vehicle was ready to be picked up. This morning I collected the car. There was significant work done for which there was no charge. Full marks to Gideon and his team. A very satisfied customer. No guesses as to who will be doing ongoing R&M for my family's vehicles. Very friendly service and easy to deal with, affordable pricing (they ask you straight up if you've had any prices from elsewhere and they will either match it or tell you what they have available if not). They also offer free rotation 6 months down the track when you buy two tyres or more. Would use these guys again.

From them I found out that it was my front tyres and that the back tyres get shifted to the front so new tyres can get put on the back (or it could be the other way round-I really should be blonde). They seemed completely unphased by my lack of car knowledge and did the job on the spot with no booking and no hint of the patronising attitude I usually get from such places. Their prices were good in comparison to what I've seen advertised from other tyre places. Would willingly recommend them to any other hapless female needing new tyres.

I previously owned a Nissan 350Z and had a tubeless tyre blow-out due to thin wear on the Bruce Highway, unexpectedly, and wasn't keen to have that happen again. So, and driving into the city from The Gap, Keith's place was a great location to have my tyres inspected for wear before I hit the motorway and to keep tabs on their deterioration. Once I hit 75K I stopped by Keith's who told me my front tyres were showing signs of wear, but that I could probably get to 80K without rotation. Once I hit 80K I stopped by and was told I could get to 85K. And once I hit that, I was true to this great retailer and had all tyres replaced at a cost just over $1K. What I liked about Keith's place was their open and honest comments about your tyre wear, no rush to super-sell you if not needed, and a very competitive price when you do decide to replace your tyres. When I left, I shook hands thanking them for saving me several hundreds of dollars by not replacing my tyres too soon, getting the most out of them, and providing a very honest and genuine retail experience which is quite rare these days. If you need new tyres, you can trust Keith McKay's Tyre & Mechanical. I'll be back!
