As a resident in a neighboring building, I am appalled at the amount of garbage that does not get picked up. If it's out of their sight, it's out of their mind ... yet I have to look at it every day from my windows and balcony. Especially since they removed all the trees and brush that used to separate our respective buildings. The maintenance crew looks over the wall & down the hill ... yet they choose to ignore what is there as it cannot be seen from the Richmond buildings. Still Richmond property!!! I moved from Montreal to Waterloo and this is my first experience with TransGlobe. I would like to share with you my story: - For moving in on Jan. 16th, I gave a certified check for the last month's rent and the prorated rent of January and a personal check for February to Mr. P. B. of TransGlobe on Jan. 4th. I was informed on Jan. 5th that I could contact Mr. G. the building representative of Tower I to sign the lease and reserve the elevator. I called a few times and left a message but no one returned my call. Finally, I talked to Mr. G. but he said that the lease was not ready and I would get it on the moving day. - On the moving day, Mr. G. did not answer the phone. After a few minutes of waiting, Ms. K. from Tower II showed me the lease and I signed it but she did not give me the parking spot. I was told that I had to park my car outside although I had paid for an indoor parking. - On the moving day, the apartment number 1406 had the following problems: * Quite a few door knobs were missing. * The apartment had been painted in grey but it was beige when I saw it. * The thermostat was not working. * There was no smoke detector in the apartment. * There was a big dirty carpet and lots of cigarette residues in the balcony. * There were large black spots on the wall of the bedroom. * One of the sliders of the bedroom window was missing. * One of the doors of the storage in the entrance corridor was not installed and it was in the kitchen. * I had not been assigned a parking space. I was not given a key for the parking, the laundry card and the key to the sport facility. - Working hours for the office are announced on the door as 8AM to 5PM but they start at 9:00AM so I have to spend my lunch time at work to come to the building and try to find the building representative. - On January 17th, I told Mr. G. in the morning that I need him to look at my apartment at 12:15PM. However, I had to wait for more than half an hour after our appointment to show my apartment to him. - On January 18th, I was given the key for the parking but they had ran out of laundry cards and their bank machine was not functioning so I was not able to pay the deposit for the keys to the sport facility. - On January 18th, when I went to the parking spot, I saw two big bulky rolls of trash that prevented my car from fitting in the spot. That was a turning moment for me. I can not accept this welcome package from TransGlobe. They have wasted my time while I didn't have time. Now, I would like to make some time for TransGlobe. P.S. From August 2012, the building was sold to Gateway Property Management. The building is becoming worse every day. Gateway is trying to renovate the building but it is currently not a livable place. I am honestly shocked at this building. When signing my lease, I took into account previous reviews, but never had I thought a living space could be as terrible as Richmond Towers. After living here in Tower 2 for 5 weeks, I have had my bathroom flooded through the ceiling fan on 5 occasions and have been without water for days at a time with no notice on 2 separate occasions. The entire building seems as though its falling apart, yet constant construction noises can be heard as they attempt to salvage this dump. I was offered 3 months free rent, and was later told by former residents that this offer was due to the lack of facilities and the constant maintenance that would be taking place (ie. no laundry room, no mail room, no gym, no lounges, no study areas, etc.), which ultimately disrupts my daily routines entirely. Had I been made aware during the signing process that this was the case, I would not have signed here, period. After awaking to no water due to a "broken motor," I was forced to retreat to a family members house 2 hours away due to my inability to so much as flush a toilet for over 48 hours beginning Saturday morning, and ending early Monday--which obviously indicates that the building management did not want to pay a premium for weekend plumbing services and instead chose to withhold water from hundreds of tenants for an entire weekend to save a few bucks. I have been sent to voicemail every time I attempt to contact any management about their breach of lease agreement regarding a lack of notices of water shut offs. Any notice they supply is placed on the front door entrance of the tower, since the management is apparently too lazy to place notices on individuals doors, meaning I was unaware of the water maintenance since I hadn't passed through that entrance. They are currently renovating many units, and drilling noises are heard through the entire building, all day long. As a student who attempts to study in the apartment I pay 1200/month for, this is impossible to do due to these noises. In conclusion, the buildings should be torn down and the entire management staff terminated. There is absolutely no benefits to living here besides the sheer size of the units. Literally every other aspect of the experience has been awful, and I strongly recommend everyone look elsewhere. By far the most disgusting place I have ever lived in. The first night I moved in I noticed little bugs that would come out of the floorboards at night. Our dishwasher was broken when we moved in and despite many maintenance calls, it never got fixed. I went to the on-site management office 3 times during their office hours when they were supposed to be open to try and get a laundry card and it was closed, so I gave up and started walking my laundry down the street to a laundromat. Everywhere in the building smelt bad. The shared amenities such as the lobby, elevators, and entryway were always falling apart / broken / under construction. I cannot tell you enough to avoid living here. I never felt clean while living here because of the bugs and weird smells. Worst apartment and management ever. read more

I have had many concerns with the management at this particular location. The staff here are not helpful, they side with their employees on all occasions, and fail to communicate with tenants who have concerns. Before moving in I read many reviews that previous unsatisfied tenants had written that I can now relate to. Please take some time to evaluate reviews written online about the staff at this particular location. When given a tour of our unit, we were promised MULTIPLE times that our unit would be renovated (a closet and desk was to be built in the smallest room, and the walls were to be painted) by our move in date. To our disappointment, nothing had changed in the unit that had been unoccupied since our tour SEVEN months prior. I sent many emails to 3 of the management staff - Claudia, Ryan, and Kim. I had called and emailed weeks prior to our move in date to ensure that our unit had been renovated - which they were promoting to everyone! I had no response as I'm sure they realized they had made a mistake. It took 3 weeks of daily calling to get a hold of Ryan to book an elevator. On the the day of my move in, I witnessed one of the staff members raising their voice at a tenant who was looking to sign their lease - very unprofessional and rude. The custodian also raised her voice at my friend TWICE in a very unprofessional manor. This is 3 times now that I have witnessed a staff member inappropriately speaking to guest/tenant that had been cooperating. Our unit constantly smells of cigarette smoke coming from the vent in our washroom meaning that another tenant is smoking in the apartment - a fire hazard and unpleasant. Also, is there a rule regarding smoking in front and behind the building? Everyday I see the custodian smoking at the back of the building. Once, she was there for almost an hour smoking and chatting with a friend. I had left to run some errands and when I had come back she was in the same spot with the same person. These apartments are home to many children, animals, and people that do not smoke for health reasons that leave and enter these buildings, I find it disgusting that this is allowed. I have to hold my breath when walking through in and out the doors. The smoke lingers to the balconies of units on lower floors. Construction is loud as they are trying to save what they can of these old buildings (built in the 1970s). They should just be knocked to the ground as they are falling apart. Also, in regards to the quality of our apartment when moving in besides the renovations not being finished, the balcony was covered with cigarette butts, the master bedroom's washroom sink and toilet were and still are not working properly. The window in the master bedroom also is defected as bugs are coming through the screen making their way into the apartment while the window is completely shut!!! The only thing that had been fixed in a timely manor was our broken fridge when we had moved in. With the way things are being run at this particular location, I would not re-sign or recommend this location to others. You can find a much nicer place for the money you pay. DO NOT RENT HERE! From the second you walk into the building, it is dirty. Trash everywhere. It's as if there is no maintenance team or landlord. The underground parking is DISGUSTING! Gross things hanging from the pipes, rusty water falling from the pipes onto people's cars-it's absolutely atrocious! The elevators smell and are dirty. Buttons don't work to the point where tenants have written "FIX THIS" on the elevator panel where the buttons are. There is always something spilled on the floor and it sits there for days. You're unable to control the heat so it gets extremely hot in the units. There are no fans in the bathroom so you have to shower with the door open. One of the cupboard doors broke off one day when I went to open it. Could have been severely hurt. The only good thing about this building is where it is located. Other than that, it's not worth the $1200/month. SAVE YOURSELF THE DISAPPOINTMENT AND AVOID!! read more
