While the Berry Wing is home to significant and important works from Europe. in addition, there are works from Oceania, Africa, and the ancient world. Outdoors there is an impressive curated sculpture garden. Historically well funded, the Dayton Art Institute is a world class destination museum, and if you are an art lover, and in this region, it is a must visit location.

This was such a delight to walk into a Victorian home where the dining area we were sitting in was decked out and I felt like I had walked into a scene of "Downton Abbey." The tea was delicious! All the food was beautifully presented (Unfortunately for those who are gluten and dairy free, make sure you eat beforehand, none of the options cater to those limitations, however they did have fruit kabobs!). The tour of the home was a fun exploration and our tour guide was very informative of the time period and the residents of the home back in the 1800's.

Not to worry, there are elevators. And the entire premises is fully wheelchair accessible including plenty of designated parking spots. There is a gift shop and a cafe on premises. My only regret from our visit is we only allowed 90 minutes. I would say at least two hours plus to see everything without rushing. They also offer guided tours, not sure of the duration on those. And..... FREE admission, free parking. And a great view from Mount Adams as an added bonus. What a gem!

Aimed at single-digits ages, and Kid K felt a little old I think. She found stuff to do, but a quieter day with not so many little kids would have been more fun for her. Still, she did some of the science things, and we went to the indoor zoo- very cool, very cute, very clean. They had a few scheduled special activities during the day but we missed them. There were a lot of staff around helping and keeping an eye on things, which is always good. Multiple discounts, so check for those. Prices are reasonable even without them. Parking was packed on a busy day, but we found a spot. It's in a big park so no other crowded places nearby. A great draw for the area.

The waterway is one of may favorite parts of the museum and glad it's still up and running 20+ years later. We actually went to watch the Mesmerica 360 show in the dome theater. That was rather mundane to me but that's not the fault of the museum. My biggest peeve of the visit was seeing the us flag was still being masted when it is in tatters. I posted in my 'check in' and I will post again here in my review that it's time to retire this flag and replace with a fresh replacement. Whomever is in charge of the grounds here should be embarrassed. Please do better.

It was a refreshing spring day, and the flowers were perfectly in bloom during our visit. The conservatory features multiple rooms with impressive plant species, including a room with orchids and a seasonal butterfly display that you could tell they were building up excitement for the following weekend. I was sad that we missed it just by a few days. If you're visiting, I encourage you to save time to walk around the remainder of the park outside of the conservatory. Overall, it's a peaceful and budget friendly activity to pass an hour or so.

The collection really is huge and you can see some very antique signs. Lots of photo opportunities. I think they might even be expanding and adding more signs. Just barely three stars, and only three stars because my children seemed to enjoy our visit…read more Like someone else said, this children's museum has seen better days, and those days were probably about 20 years ago. Everything is very old, dingy and dated. There are literally computer printouts taped to the walls as decorations. Many of the exhibits have broken and dirty objects in them, like torn upholstery on the chairs, dirty play food, torn carpet. Now, there is some art that is laminated, but those are peeling off the walls and placed on the wall all crooked. All these things make the museum feel so neglected. We got there on a weekday right when it opened, and the staff was still vacuuming while the children were running around and playing. Really? You can't do this before you open? Children were running around and jumping over the vacuum cord. Then, when I went to the gift shop to buy some food, the same dumb vacuum was placed right in front of the door so that I had to walk around it. Each of these things are not very big, but it's little things like this that show lack of attention to detail and bad customer service. The restroom is extremely old, and the handicap stall that I visited did not have a working lock. The toilet seat was literally disintegrating. The whole museum is not very well ventilated, and I kept smelling kid farts everywhere I went. (FYI: Kids fart a lot.) This museum is two stories, but when we visited, the exhibits upstairs were blocked off and no one could use them. Our visit was contained to the downstairs portion. I came with low expectations, but this was ridiculous and disappointing. Well, disappointing to me. My kids had fun, which is the whole point of visiting a children's museum, right? Nevertheless, I most likely won't be back unless the children beg me, which probably won't happen because there are many other places to play that are not in a state of disrepair.

They have the "Wright in Ohio" photography display of all the Frank Lloyd Wright homes in Ohio, as well as one of the original urns from the restored Wescott House. The "No Such things as Strangers" by Lelia Byron was neat to see, also. My favorite exhibit, though, is the "Chronicles: The Great Depression and the Pandemic" (Covid). A powerful juxtaposition of two historic events our Nation has faced. These photos are so moving. They are working on the North wing, and it should be completed later this month. This museum is a must see if you're passing through! Springfield has a huge support of art and music and that is great to see!
