They also had some classic cars on display they sell homemade fudge and other homemade candies. They had some novelty items like dog ornaments and socks for Christmas. They also had lots of neat canned items that you don't see on the grocery shelves. They had single pieces of pie and whole pies to buy and some other food items you could sit down and eat. I will definitely be stopping back when I can. And by the way, the honey was $19 for a 2 lb. jar.

Boulder Belt is amazing. Lucy and Eugene are truly originals, dedicated to sustainable…read moreagriculture, and they go WAAY beyond "organic." They only use "real" and heirloom seeds, which means you have a choice of amazing veggies, berries, melons, and herbs all year long. Hot houses guarantee kale through the winter, and stored root veggies mean that even winter soups are garden fresh. Over the past many years, I have purchased their produce from the Oxford Farmer's Market and been a member of their CSA. I believe you can find them at the Eaton Market these days, or you can visit their farm store just north of Eaton. Expensive, you say? Well, unlike McDonald's and Wal-Mart, Boulder Belt is not subsidized by the government. This is the cost of healthy, tasty food.

I'm going to start this review by saying I'm not from around here. I hail from Northeast Ohio,…read morewhere apple picking is a quintessential fall activity that takes place in late September through October. So imagine my disappointment when last October I went hunting for an apple orchard in the greater Cincinnati area only to discover every single one had sold out of u-pick apples by the end of the first weekend of the month. Um, what?! So this year I was determined to get my apple picking in, even if that meant going in the second week of September. Which I did, right here at Monnin Fruit Farm. This place is out in the country as it should be and has a great variety of apples to choose from. When we went, the honey crisp were already nearly gone, but they'd just opened up the winesap rows. We got some of everything, from Fuji to golden delicious to macintosh. You buy by the half bushel or the bushel; prices aren't posted but this year the half bushel is $20. Cash or check only! Be sure to check out the store as well. On our way out we grabbed a dozen free range eggs, some apple butter and a bag of toffee. They've also got local milk, meat products and other produce. Monnin gets high marks for 1) actually having apples, 2) posting u-pick information on Facebook, 3) their awesome store and 4) knowledgeable staff. Minus one star for a confusing map/flag system for identifying apple varieties, and only two sizes for buying apples. Didn't really need a whole half bushel but you can bet I filled that bag! Would be nice to pay by weight or have a smaller size. Overall, this place scratched my apple-picking itch. Great way to kick off fall. Now, who's ready for apple pie?
