Once upon a time they were the be all and end all in tape recorders, then they moved on to CD players, and now it's all about Ipod docking stations. Basically, Richer Sounds always manages to have the most modern equipment on the general market, and they always keep with the times (unlike some of the other such stores in the area). Because this is quite a small little place on Cowbridge Road East (an area I remember from my childhood as having seen better times), there is a sense of community spirit; clearly they've managed to build up a nice little network of loyal clientele. But this shop is run by people who know their stuff and are clearly passionate about getting the right products on their shelves, and knowing what brands are best for them and their customers. This place is great. They have branches throughout the UK & also a shop online as well. Sign up for their newsletter online, as they tend to give even cheaper prices every week as well. The shop itself is very very small, so if your sure your going to buy something, phone them first to check its in stock. Read the reviews and decided to use the shop to buy a TV,DVD player and stand.BIG MISTAKE. The shop was busy and we waited for some time to be served. When we were served the service was fine. They did not have the TV in stock and said they would deliver for free. I explained my working pattern and asked for it to be delivered on a Friday.they advised that they would contact the supplier to delay delivery and would text me the next day to confirm this.as the sales assistant was on leave the next day he would get someone else to do this. Yes you guessed it, no text. I rang the next day. Took ages to get a reply, then spoke to Jason. Ohh dear. I explained the situation and expressed my concern that no body had contacted me. Far from apologising and try to sort things out he was very rude. Telling me that they were very busy and had not had the chance. When I challenged him that this was poor customer care he became quite difficult raising his voice . the conversation went further down hill with Jason telling me that they were so busy they did not get lunch hours and that it did not help when staff rung in sick. I was really surprised by this lack of professionalism and advised that their organisational issues were not the concern of paying customers. Especially bad I had only come to their firm based on my presumption that they would provide a good service. I pointed out the produce was much cheaper else where. We could have gone there if we wanted to take a chance on customer service. We believed that customer after sales care was important as the product came with a five year warranty. Jason said he would look into it and ring me back. I explained that due to the nature of my work I may not be able to take his call. Could he text me as was first arranged. He was very difficult saying if I could not take a call then he could not advise me of the delivery. I asked again about the text. He responded that the shop did not have the facility to send a text. If the previous assistant wanted to text me off his own phone that was up to him. I said I was fed up with his attitude and wanted to speak to the manager. I was put on hold for several minutes. The manager apologised and said he would speak to him. I advised i was so concerned I would contact the head office. All this an still I had no delivery date. I spoke to Paddy in head office.no advised I had no confidence in the firm if they could not even sort out a TV delivery and would need to speak to my husband to see if he wanted to proceed with the order. I received a text from paddy later in the afternoon saying the goods would be delivered on Friday and a tracking order. When my husband/came home from work he decided to cancel the order. We were concerned if they were like this with a simple problem we had NO confidence in their after sales support. I rang Paddy who advised he would contact the store to arrange a refund. This would have to be done the next day as they would need to check if the items had been dispatched and recall them if they had. He promised someone would ring me before 12. YES once again no call. I could not get through to the store on the phone. Orang Paddy he was on the phone so left a message. NO response. Rang him again he advised he had the message and had asked the store to ring me. He then put me through to the store. I spoke toJohnathan the store manager. He was very off hand in his manner with no apology for not ringing. He was very difficult to hear due to background noise. He told me he was in a quiet room and there was no background noise. Even though I could hear word for word the conversation going on in the background. After much difficulty my card number was given for a refund. I asked him to call the numbers back to ensure they were correct. He said he could not and would have to go through the whole thing as he had pressed a button for the next stage of the refund. So we went all through the process again. When he called out the amount to be refunded I asked him to repeat it as it was too much. Still there was a lot of background noise making the conversation really hard. When he realised his mistake he said that someone had pushed another receipt in front of him withe the higher amount on. Strange I thought he was in a quit room. He said he would take the difference back and by going back into the refund and adjusting it. Strange again as he could not go back to verify my number earlier in the conversation. I advised I was concerned that this was done correctly and asked when it would show in my account for me to check. He responded with - he was unsure exactly when it would be in a day or two - but check by all means if you think I am dishonest.his manner was rapidly going down hill. I advised in was not questioning his honesty only disorganisation. He then conceded that things were disorganised. He apologised in a very iffy hand way which lacked any real genuineness. just contacted these guys now and all i can say is wow just wow. i purchased a flat screen tv nearly 5 years ago now and recently broke the remote control to the tv through my own negligence having purchased a universal remote which may as well be printed in urdu for all the use it was. I decided to contact richer sounds and ask their advice on universal remote controls. having checked their records they found that the 5 year warranty has 6 days remaining so they are contacting the manufacturers in order to send me out a new remote control set at no cost what so ever to me.. how is that for customer service? i wonder how many other stores would have just tried to sell me a universal remote and the most expensive one in the store? talk about pushing the envelope these guys are brilliant and i will certainly use them again :-) read more
