This W H Smith can be found in the centre of High street. It is a fairly big store but does always…read morefeel a bit crowded. One of the doors is automatic which is great for wheelchair users and parents with buggies. At the front of the store is a small selection of sweets and chocolates. There is a big range of magazines for all people from children to those who are into computing. Whatever your hobby or interest there is bound to be a magazibe for you. They also sell daily newspapers. I find the range of books available to be somewhat on the small side but there is always the latest novels. The childrens books are laid out for children to easily look at. There is also the wide range of stationery that W H Smith sell in all branches and include some lovely ranges.

There are items for all ages including candles, ornaments and soft toys. I really like the range of cards they have as they are all a bit different and have suitable ones for all occasions - not just birthdays. They do cost a bit more than if you went to a card shop. Most things are a little expensive in general but if you're only buying the odd thing for yourself or a present I think it's worth it. A great place for little nik naks for your home!

There's usualy a good selection of items for children such has toys. I don't however tend to see anything thats too my personal taste clothing wise. Whether its coincidence or they only put out clothing that suits the more older woman I don't know. At christmas especially, and all year round they sell there own cards which is a great way to donate and also get a lovely card. The volunteers who help are all friendly and like a chat. It's worth having a browse if passing just incase there's a bargain to be had!

It's situated just off the M4 on the outskirts of Bridgend and has ahuge range of pet food, country clothing and equestrian goods. They are a stockist of the Joules range of clothes which I always love as well as Hunter wellies, Barbour jackets etc. The store also has a garden centre with a wide range of plants/shrubs etc and a recently opened reptile centre. They offer a repair service for garden machinery and there is ample parking available which is handy if you need to transport a lawn mower there eg for servicing. They have a good range of homeware, as well as toys with an agricultural theme for any little budding farmers in the family as well as books on how to look after your dog, horse etc If you live in the country or want to embrace the country life then this is the place for you!!!!

I find it quite easy to find what cards I am looking for as there all labelled up and in categories like birthdays, weddings etc. .Above the cards there are more gifts that you can get people these are gifts for birthdays and weddings etc as there gift keys and wines glasses. You can also buy a variety of gift wrap and tags. I find the shop reasonably priced and the cards great quality and unique. I used to go here quite a lot as I knew I would always find a card that would suit the person I'm getting it for.

So when I spotted the North Devon Hospice, I had to go in and look around. The local story, for me, was the huge interest in books and of videos. For example, I picked up the video 'A Beautiful Mind' for about £3, and several childrens' books in the 50p-£1 price range. Like many charity shops, the fabric of the building was shockingly dilapidated, which suggests that the building had perhaps been gifted to North Devon Hospice, and they do not have the resources to maintain it. I guess that is the way with many charities, who see the choice between giving the money way and spending it on their own infrastructure as a moral one, with the charitable recipients taking priority. Either that, or the average North Devon Hospice volunteer is not adept at shinning up a ladder and applying a coat of paint to the woodwork. But I digress if you are in this part of Devon, and you want to buy a book or video, for everyone's sake don't buy new until you have at least tried second-hand.
