Pain was completely minimized. Horrible experience/bedside manner is really unacceptable. I would never recommend this practice.

DO NOT go to this office - it is not worth the stress you'll feel for years to come. Dr. Braver is fine as a doctor, but beware of the office and their billing department. I have not been to this office in years and when I left, I was accidentally overcharged and had a credit on my account (I still have the statement from 2 years ago saying there is a credit on my account). Yesterday I received an old bill in the mail dated back to 3 years ago claiming I owe them hundreds of dollars today. They didn't care that I had a claim statement showing a credit to my account postmarked after the date on this "new statement". I even called my old insurance, but couldn't get any proof of this bill. The management of their billing is outrageous and will try to scam you. They admitted that their old billing was done incorrectly, yet now they are hunting down old patients and forcing them to pay new charges that were never shown before. I wish I could go back in time - I would've found a different doctor instead. read more

I've been running competitively for fifteen years, since I was a freshman in high school. When I was younger, I was a really great high school athlete, but over time I developed knee and ankle injuries that made it hard for me to keep running. Those injuries have been a constant source of frustration because (for some reason) I really love to run. Anyway, my most recent injury was foot tendonitis and I was referred to Dr. Braver to have orthotics made. After trying physical therapy and resting, I didn't have a lot of confidence that anything could fix me. Dr. Braver was very supportive during the process, though, and continued to modify my temporary orthotics in the hopes of finding something that would work for me. My permanent orthotics came in earlier this week and I've put 20 pain-free miles in for the first time in forever. I've never given a serious Yelp review before, but I really want to thank Dr. Braver for helping me back to the sport I love. My insurance covered the orthotics (and even though I was out of network, Dr. Braver's office worked to make sure I had no out of pocket!), but I honestly can't put a price on the ability to return to full activity. I was recommended to Dr. Braver by a friend after I fractured a bone in my foot. It required minor surgery, which was performed by Dr. Braver. My foot has healed completely and I'm running again. He didn't understand that wearing giant neon sneakers with reflectors on them aren't appropriate to wear to work. He insisted that I buy New Balance, then when I did he said it was the wrong shoe and sent me to Aetrex, where nothing fit properly. The first pair or orthotics he made couldn't bear my weight and combined with the Aetrex sneaker immensely contributed to my knee and hip pain to the point that I just couldn't do it anymore. He then made a second pair that were way too narrow for my feet, resulting in blisters. Both were way too thick to properly fit the depth of any shoe or sneaker. I went for another opinion and was informed that orthotics aren't a proper solution for me and my best bet is to wear anything that mitigates my pain. I wish I knew this to begin with before spending so much money and suffering through months of pain. read more

I suffered from what turned out to be bone spurs on my big toe joint, causing agony with every step. It was bad enough for me to consider surgery, which I really wanted to avoid. After visiting two other podiatrists/surgeons that gave me useless cortisone injections and wanted to replace the entire big toe joint but wouldn't guarantee the results, I then saw Dr. Braver who recommended surgery (that usually had excellent results) to just remove the bone spurs and not replace the entire joint which would be prone to eventual failure anyway. The surgery was about a year and a half ago and I have been totally pain free for well over a year! I am grateful for Dr. Braver's skill and bedside (and ORside and officeside) manner and would definitely recommend him to anyone suffering from foot and ankle pain. Thank you, Dr. Braver! read more

No issues with the quality of care received. Dealing with the billing department however is a nightmare. First we get bills for services not ordered or delivered (orthotics). Then after we pointed that we did not order the orthotics, we get another bill - suspiciously for the same amount, but different services listed - some X-Rays (mind you, two years AFTER the date of service). Allegedly our insurance company refused to pay. Together with our insurance company, we tried to reach the billing - to no avail - no calls picked up or returned. And now, we get a call from a collection agency. DO NOT go to that office if you don't want to deal with collection agencies. read more

Dr. Richard Braver, DPM - Active Foot and Ankle Care Center - is an outstanding podiatrist and foot surgeon. Dr. Braver, along with his professional and very capable staff, patiently healed my left foot heel plantar fasciitis. I returned from a trip to the UK last July 2016 unable to bear weight on my left foot. After a full year in his care for my acute and stubborn problem, I am now pain free! I can participate in all activities. I am now hiking and and personal training at a new gym!! I never thought it would happen for me. He used a combination of modalities and never gave up on keeping to his promise for a successful and complete recovery for me. His custom made orthodics for any type of footwear that I purchased, the Aetrex running shoes and including special house shoes that I wear constantly when I am at home, were an important element in my healing. Dr. Braver is the best Doctor that I have ever been to. My son is an elite runner and has a track scholarship for college. He suffered a stress fracture in his shin and we had an appt with an orthopedic sports medicine doctor in the morning and on the recommendation of a physical therapist friend, with Dr. Braver in the afternoon. The orthopedist told my son that he should start to run again and everything is fine. Dr. Braver actually looked at the disc of the MRI and told my son that the bone was not healing an he had what is called a non- Union. He ordered a bone stimulator, blood tests and was so concerned. He spent over2 hours with my son on that first visit. So when I have to wait in his office I understand why, he is very thorough and spends the time necessary. Because of Dr. Braver my son did not have to have surgery to repair the bone. My Son is now competing in meets in college because of Dr. Braver I am now in a cast because dr. Braver just repaired my torn Achilles' tendon. He is an excellent surgeon and I consider him a genius, a very intelligent man. He is also very kind and gives of his personal time freely. My sister was just diagnosed with an issue with her spine and I emailed Dr. Braver for recommendation for a spine specialist and he sent back the recommendation within a few hours. I have been to doctors at Hospital for Special Surgery and Dr. braver is far superior to any of those doctors. As I said in the beginning I think dr. Braver is the best doctor I have ever been to, you may have to wait, but not every time, but it is so worth it. read more

I was having very bad pain in my left leg. i went to physical therapist and a chiropractor who both told me the problem was in my back. after 6 months of treatment i still coundn't walk. my medical massage therapist the problem might be in my foot. she recommended dr. braver. i went there and he took x-rays and found one leg was shorter than the other and i had an extra bone in my foot. he said i would need orthotics. i purchased them and was told by the doctor it would take about 6 weeks to heal. by the end of the first week the pain started to go away. i went back for a second visit to adjust the orthotics. the doctor was right. in 6 weeks the pain went away. i spend at most about 15 min in the waiting room and the office staff was pleasant and helpful. read more

Dr. Braver has been taking care of my feet for 15 years. I had bunion surgery in my 20s and have extremely flat feet with lots of arthritis. I have had two operations done by Dr. Braver, both successful--one foot was for a pinched nerve, the other foot for hallux rigidus (arthritis in the big toe joint). He is an excellent surgeon and a thorough practitioner. I have my orthotics updated regularly. Dr. Braver's office makes great orthotics. read more
