Late June, 2020 I went to do the NASCAR racing experience with my family while we were on vacation in Daytona and had a wonderful experience. We booked it over the phone with Sally, and as we were comparing our options to what was available on Groupon, we were offered an additional 10% discount. Although that was slightly more expensive, it was much less hassle than it would be with booking through Groupon. We elected to do the ride along (it was cheaper) and Albert was our driver. He was fantastic! As a lifelong NASCAR fan, it went above and beyond my expectations. My only criticism would be that the pictures are a little pricy. Overall it was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to every one of my friends. read more

What a blast. There are two sections out here. The Richard petty driving experience is for you to drive the car. The Mario Andretti racing experience is to ride along with a professional driver. I did the ride along for about six or eight laps. The G forces are truly amazing on the embankments. I have driven fast before on highways but never on an embankment. The embankment gives an entirely new feel to the speed. If you at all are interested or enjoy NASCAR racing you truly need to feel with the drivers go through when they are driving. Our max speed was about 185 miles an hour and it felt smooth as silk. Hats off to my driver who is doing this every day all day. read more

So now its 5 yrs later. I am now 70. The whole experence was junk. Standing around for hrs. In the hot sun. HOURS! Helmet was way to big and clumsy. The cars are still way to old. It shook like I was in an earthquake. Suspension was crap. Handling was loose to the point that I was over correcting the car into all the turns. Windshield was so dirty, I could hardly see. I get that this is a cash cow but, we pay big money for this. UPGRADE THE DAMN CARS WILL YA! Don't make us wait in line for hours AFTER the ride as well, just to get a stupid photo! Have more TENTS and SEATING available for the guests that stand around for hours. GIVE OUT WATER. And yes, I did not get a video again! THATS TWICE. UPGRADE THE DAMN VIDEO EQUIPMENT ! Only 2 cars running... 80 plus degrees... 11am reservations... still waiting 2 hours later... people with walkers and in wheelchairs in heat... no where to sit! Called corporate office... wanted to give me a hat... no refunds... steadily checking people in and not telling them actual wait time... shouldn't allow that many people to wait in such conditions ... Richard Petty Driving Experience - Hot Sun waiting - Racing Experience Near Me - Daytona Beach, Florida

This has been on my wish list for several years. Last Christmas a gift certificate was under the tree for 8 minutes of track time as a driver at Daytona. I set up reservations for June 29th in the afternoon. The wife and I arrived at the track about an hour early for which the host set me up for an earlier time on the track. We both went to a pre-race orientation room to watch a track dos and don'ts video, very informative...but watch a 1 hour video and you're qualified to drive a race car at Daytona? After the video we're headed to pit road to get suited up and in line for a car. Took quite a while to get to the front of the line, getting drivers in-n-out of the cars, refueling etc. After about an hour I was called to squeeze into a car, get strapped in and a quick overview of the sequence of events about to happen. One thing I thought was odd was I was asked if I knew how to drive a stick seconds before the engine was fired up, little late to be asking. A comm check with my spotter and I was released to hit the track. The first lap was slow, familiarizing myself with how the car handles and up against the spotter controlled rev limiter (stepped RPM's). That being said it takes awhile to get up to full speed, to about 4700 rpm. The first issue I encountered was the noise. During the third lap I was having trouble hearing the spotter due to the excessive in car noise. In pre-race we were instructed to pit and address the problem. I did so dropping down into pit road behind a professional drivers car as he was pitting. Evidently I was going too fast down pit road because when I stopped one of the car mechanics immediately came over to my car and called me a "stupid son of a bitch, you could have killed someone". I told him I was having problems hearing the spotter and pitted early, he just said you're done and walked away. Very uncalled for and unprofessional. I had full control of the car, stopped exactly where I was instructed to and did not jeopardize anyone's safety, I have it all on video. End of the "Experience". I stopped by the checkout trailer on the way out to pickup up my coarse completed certificate. Did I enjoy the Experience? Overall Yes. Although I did expect more of a thrill. Would I do it again? Absolutely not. Reasons: high cost, low speed, short time and the unprofessionalism of the garage mechanic. Would I recommend it? The ride yes, as a driver no. read more

Do not sign your waiver until the second you step into the car because if you get canceled because of rain or whatever other reason and you don't get to go on your ride but your waiver is signed you will not get a refund. NASCAR Driving Experience might have been fun but beware...... if it rains or even if it doesn't rain but mists and the track is at all wet, your experience will be cancelled with NO REFUNDS. I am out $1000 and cannot get anyone from NASCAR Racing Experience to even call me! I have been getting excuses for 3 days.....I am from out of the area and cannot reschedule. Be very careful! Absolutely the worst experience I have ever encountered as a life-long racing fan. Poorly managed, crappy gear, junk cars (with extreme rev limiters) and a "screw the customer" attitude. After a four hour wait, I was pulled from the running car, all belted in, at the starting line. Then I was told there are no refunds on my almost $1000 investment. This occurred at the Daytona 500. I was told to reschedule despite the fact that I was visiting from California and the track would not be available again during my stay. read more

First off, my experience is from 3 years ago at Daytona Beach, FL. They have many tracks they goto. This is comments is regarding the ride along experience​ and not as a driver. A race driver is assigned and waiting for you to get fitted with helmet gear. Note also the tour of the Daytona track closes early. However, the Richard Petty Driving Experience stays open longer so it can be done towards the end of the day. I was the last rider/passenger trying to beat out the rain that was heading our way. I only had flaps/sandals​ that day to wear being the tourist. They provided socks and shoes to use. Be sure to bring your own. Before I got in, my wife asked for my drivers license and keys to the rental car. She was going to become wealthy if something went wrong and needed to drive away with my son if need be. I got geared up and climbed in. The driver introduced himself and told me what to do. I engaged the 4 or 5 point harness. He gave me instructions on how to remove the window screen if needed to exit. Before starting the car, the driver asked if I wanted the fast experience or a slow experience. I asked for the fast experience thinking what the heck, I don't get to experience this on the roads so why go slow. The budget ride along I paid for gives you three laps at speed. With the fast experience, he accelerated out of the pits at what seemed like full throttle to reach the track. My wife told me someone said we were at about 100 MPH out of the pits. Onto the track it seemed like around 150mph if I remember correctly. What I recall as we sped up is noticing the 2 foot high brick wall slowly recede into the track so all I could really make out was the chainlink fence. To avoid nervousness of the excessive speed and wondering if the tires would hold in the turns, I started looking inside the car to see how things were - the type of guages (analog), the steering wheel, etc. things I missed during the preparation. These cars are older retired NASCARS they are running and not the more modern cars with digital instrumentation which is fine by me. All in all, the ride along was a good experience, before I get too old to go that fast. Daytona is probably a better track to experience this because it has an extra slight turn and is not a perfect oval. I would like to try driving next time, if I can afford it and am not too old - ready to have a heart attack. Since this was the ride along experience and not a driving experience your milleage will differ due to different cars, etc. read more

AWESOME! My lovely girlfriend gave this as a gift for my 50th bday :)) Staff were super nice and helpful. I can't believe I drove by myself on the world-famous speedway at 150mph with basic but great instruction. I was on the rookie experience package (approx $500?) and it was 4 or 5 laps--heck maybe more but who counts when you're driving at those speeds lol. I'm seriously thinking about returning. I didn't feel too much pressure to buy the expensive pics/videos-just politely declined. Only comment is they should launder the driver's suits every day b/c mine was quite smelly of sweat and grime. Our son enjoyed the Daytona Beach Richard Petty experience recently on our August '19 vacation. Prior to the drive, we enjoyed the humor of the tram driver. His laid-back nature made me relax in the revved-up, adrenalin-rich environment. Inside the speedway, we remarked at the larger than life tunnels, stadium, track, tower and general setting. When directed to the sales booth to determine what souvenirs of the drive, I found the attendants very pleasant. Donna served us and most remarkably did not execute a rehearsed, pressure sale; instead she answered my countless questions, including, " Are you on commission?" I determined she should have a raise for her kind, listening nature. She playfully responded that I should tell Mike, which of course I did. Mike quipped with us, sharp as a tack, answering my myriad of questions, which contributed to my confidence in the program's safety. TWO of the "Pitt crew" were Embry Riddle students; this gave us assurity, as to the competence of the entire staff. The driver was skilled, not only in driving, but also in reading people. This professional knew that our son wanted to go fast and allowed our son to safely do so. The package Donna had offered us allowed us to see our son in the passenger seat as he participated in the Richard Petty experience. We were handed a USB with this video so that we are still enjoying the day, despite being home in NJ. Thank you for a great vacation memory. read more
