Designworks seems up to scratch with current trends, with a recurring overturn of stock, and a place to go if you are a higher earner and want to treat yourself to something plush for your house. They have an extensive fabric collection for couches and curtains to the back of the shop and lots of glorious Edwardian-styled brand spanking new cabinets. At the moment there is an apparent earthy, mother nature inspired theme with viney, twiggy house ornaments, tan couches, stylish crockery with blossom printed on it and leafy coloured cushions. Seems to be common of the recent recession that everything from adverts to house decorations is styled to look organic and innocent, but it's a nice touch if you're looking for a distraction from work stresses. When I asked the girl behind the counter if she sold anything small, ornamental and affordable for Mother's Day I accidently slurred my words because I was exhausted and said "Do you smell?" rather than "sell", agh! Lord only knows how my words ended up in such a mismatch but she just laughed and was really nice, very helpful. And in answer to my question, they have a variety of vases and delicately adorned modern frames should you desire anything for a classy gift! It's expensive for lower earners but it's on my wish list of places to revisit when I'm rich!

I popped in here a few years ago with my friend who's a whiz at making things, she had some old tatty cushions that she wanted to spruce up and rather than throw them out she came here for some fabric. The shop owner was friendly and she got a really pretty pink and cream swirly design and it was a problem that she wasn't buying rolls and rolls of it, the shop owner was happy to cut as much as she needed. I'm not sure what the going rate for fabrics are, I'm a bit ignorant when it comes to that but the price seemed very reasonable for the amount she got and the cushions look great! They have loads of different designs to sift through and the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable, it has that really nice crafty/hobby shop feel too it which will now doubt give you some inspiration for your fabric-related project.

I mean sure, make all the Pinterest boards you like but sometimes you need to go into an actual shop and talk to a real life person. The lady working here was so super friendly and chatty that I wanted to buy something just because she was so nice. I love the selection of stuff they have here - it's modern, it's chic, it's classy - and most of it didn't seem too expensive. She had a nice antique tea set out on the table which I totally loved but managed to resist buying because we already have over 100 mugs and I really can't justify adding more to the collection. They offer interior design services and have a lovely range of sample material swatches for you to look over. I'm not sure if you need to make an appointment or could just pop by, but I highly recommend going in for a visit to get you inspired. And there's a cushion which looks like a dragon from Game of Thrones, which is worth seeing alone.

My blinds were fitted by the son Philip after been given advice and shown many many materials by mum Mary. Kitchen worktop and sink and fittings were planned by dad James. I got back in touch last week and asked if they could make me cushions in the material and similar to my lounge blinds, they were made up in beatiful materials and cushions were duck down, really pleased with the result. Dallas, Dallas - so good they named it twice!…read more I've got to say, interior design shops get more intimidating the further up the pay scale they go. This one is the sergeant in an army of cool. It hosts a number of styles from European designers and generally sells a lot of minimalistic yet at times retro styles. The vast majority of stock is linnear and clean cut but can sometimes verge towards the current trend for the organic, with floral based patterns on couches and cabinets to dandelion shaped lamp shades. You can tell from the various designers on display here that Ikea's emulations lend a lot to these originals. However, I do not have £130 pounds to toss at Dallas & Dallas for a new desk lamp, nor am I completely blindsided at their attempts to conceal price tags in their window display! When a shop does that, you know the price is going to fire through the roof. So while I admire and indeed would desire some of the stock they have on offer here, I'm a long way off affording it - which I'm sure is a common trait across the country at the moment. If you have the money and some time to browse around here then it's modern, stylish designs will no doubt tickle your fancy, but I can barely afford a pair of knickers and a haircut at the minute, so the poor newly graduated side of me will continue to shop at Ikea for the next wee while...

This store sells a wide selections of items from some of Europe's leading contemporary interior designers and no I do not mean Colin and Justin or Laurence Llewellyn Bowen but instead the likes of Tisettanta and Alessi. Dallas & Dallas is yet another interiors store in the Merchant City where you look at a lot of things and think, ok what exactly is that? I found one emm thing, that was apparently a stool and a vase, a stool AND a vase! It is a store worth looking around though if you appreciate interior design and good quality, even if you can't afford to actually buy anyting!

Sorry Bo-Concept - but I really was not impressed…read more Yes, you have a lot of attractive furniture. Yes, some of your smaller homeware pieces aren't too overpriced (especially in the sale). But that's where my positives stop. First up, for a so-called upmarket furniture store, I thought this place was actually really grubby. A bit of floor mopping wouldn't have gone amiss, and you'd have been wise to have removed the used coffee cups from your £400 dining tables. Secondly, your staff were not welcoming. We were given some really dirty looks by a certain member of your staff, and that was even before I'd (quite loudly) complained about the aforementioned coffee cups. And thirdly - a piece of your pretentious £350 "artwork" (you know the type, where someone has typed out a lot of cliched so-called life advice on a canvas in different fonts) had a pretty serious spelling mistake in it. And don't try telling me that was intentional. Next time I want to spend a large chunk of my hard earned cash on some furniture - I won't be doing it here.

Went in for the first time today because after reading those last wonderful reviews, I was overcome with morbid curiosity! Poe-faced Concept doesn't fail to disappoint on the arrogance front - although I wasn't given the cold, hard stare I expected from staff, I was largely ignored by them, which suited me fine since I could act like a fly on the wall and be left in peace. I obviously look poor - that's fine guys, it's entirely true! But you can't condemn a girl for dreaming! Since I've been subtly branded a poor working class girl, my cankered fingers had to surrepticiously reach for the price tag...I had to stop my jaw from dropping when I saw it was 150 quid for an EX DISPLAY lamp. Yes, that's right - Ex Display. Bugger off. Even if there ever comes a day when i have money to burn frivolously on items such as these, I doubt I would ever bother. Sure, they looked pretty but seriously, get real. If you were loaded, some trendy items in here may appeal - some of the stock is undeniably beautiful. Unfortunately, this place lacks the innovation and laid back vibe of Habitat, nor does it possess the charm and imaginative quirk of its West End rivals. It announces new arrivals in the window like we should roll out the red carpet for their overpriced (but, got to admit, nice) sofas - there's just something a bit off about this place. By all means go for a browse as they have some lovely stock but interior design competition has sprung up all over the place. So although Bo Concept may have been top dog a few years back, it's going to have to change its stand offish aura before it can attract a wider audience. And as Eleanor said, the richest people are quite often the least likely to flaunt it, so never judge a book by its deceptively dog-eared cover. You'll lose business if you do.

This shop is an homage to everything 'trendy'. I enjoyed looking at the different wallpaper designs - the Glasgow scene wallpaper is pretty spectacular (lots of little drawings of the sights) - although for the price you're paying (£98 per roll), you wouldn't want it to be anything but! I was, however, EXTREMELY impressed by the 'bibliochaise'. Basically it's a chair combined with a bookcase, (it takes out that annoying 'walking' activity which most people have to deal with once they find a book to read, and then need to find a chair. Ah, how I love the modern world!). I suppose, if you're into art/design/interior decorating, this place could well be the best thing since sliced bread, but to me it was just slightly pretentious, and overly expensive. Maybe I'm just not cool or artsy enough to appreciate their products, but c'mon, who could really cope with turqouise pineapple print wallpaper...?

Saying that, I like the concept. Cool, unusual wallpaper, beastie-themed mugs, a choice selection of bold curtains...youll be hard pushed to find styles like this in other stores. It's very pricey and it looks like it'd be difficult to go in for a casual look if you're not buying. But if you do happen to have some cash to burn and are looking to style a business or your house, this kind of decor would go down a storm! A lot of the designs, all based on organic inspiration (namely bugs as the name suggests) really stand out and you can tell a lot of quality time and effort has been dedicated to bring these unusual wallpapers to your attention. Today they had a design displayed which featured moth wings. Doesn't sound appealing on paper but it was gorgeous! It's yet another scenario where I'll bide my time and return when I'm rich and famous. I love the stretch of shops on this road but the horrible syndrome associated with living in the west end with no money is that you develop an expensive taste! Or, should I say, an appetite since I'm not quite at the feast yet. Saying that, this shop is great and I appreciate its nod to the Scottish community, from the Burns inspired name to the collection of Rabbie Burns plates and mugs displayed in the window. It seems to be staying true to its grass roots and I like the designs based on Glasgow culture specifically. It couldn't be further from To A Louse, this shop seems to be directed to the rich and creative commune. One day I'll buy the moth wallpaper and be the coolest cat in town.
