Parking can be difficult as there is no street parking, but a structure that is shared with other medical facilities. It's busy and not easy to find parking. Arrive early! The office will validate for a few dollars, otherwise it's 8.00. The office was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. The story's moral is to be vigilant, check your toes regularly, and pay attention to where you get your pedicures done. Dr. Trezia mentioned that there is a possibility my toenail could grow back (fingers crossed!). Did you know a toenail takes 12 to 18 months to regrow fully? The office was overall lovely staff. I was done in under 30 minutes. Parking costs 2.00 per hour. I will not be taking the oral medication - we are going with a topic cream and possibly laser treatments. Did you know you can get a medical pedicure? Today, I'm years old and learning about it! 2-19-25 update. He said my husband was not a candidate for surgery since he could everything he always did. I asked the Dr. about hip surgery so I would know what to expect when the time came. He said he would be in the hospital for 7 days and then discharged for outpatient pt. I knew my husband would not like being in the hospital that long. At the beginning of the year my husband had heart by pass surgery and was in the hospital for only 2 days and hated it. He said someone would come during the night to do things to him so he could not get a good nights sleep. He did so well after surgery he went straight back to his room. He had no pain and wanted to go home. He had pt an hour after surgery. He was able to have it 2 times that day. I asked his Dr. that evening if he could go home. He said tomorrow if everything is fine. I found a wonderful top rated heart Dr. through a newspaper article. I saw an article in a paper about Dr. Dorn and his Associate Dr. Gilbert. One day my husband fell and could not get up. I knew his hip had given out. I immediately called Dr. Dorns office. The lady said he was booked up for 1 month. Would you like to see his associate Dr. Gilbert. Never mind we already have an appt. with him. This was on a Tuesday. The next morning he had hip surgery and went home the same day 8 hours later pain free. Lucky the nerve block did not wear off for 4 hours. I called several other orthopedic Drs. No other Drs. discharged in one day or used a nerve block for pain Dr. Dorn and his associates were years ahead very advanced in the medical field. My husband had his hips and knees replaced by Dr. Gilbert. One day hospital stay every time. In one month he was back to normal. No walker or cane. I do not understand the negative reviews about the Dr. Some staff members yes but not the Dr. Our friend of many years from church saw Dr. Gilbert for knee surgery. I asked her how she found him. She said her neighbor is a nurse at the hospital he works at. She told her neighbor find me the best Orthopedic surgeon there. She recommended Dr. Gilbert. My neighbors mother was over 80 and her Dr. would not operate on her knee. She was in so much pain she fell may times. Dr. Gilbert told us once I will still do surgery on you if you are over 80. Thank God for that. At age 83 my husband had his last surgery knee. If the DR. did not do the surgery my husband would have spent the next 2 years in a wheelchair in pain before he died. He has stellar reviews. And I immediately understood why: he came himself to let me in the side gate next to the handicapped spot. He was surprised to see me with only one shoe. I explained that the pain was so severe that I could not get a shoe on my left foot and was wearing a Bomba sock instead. But from the moment I encountered the staff my " appointment " for which I had waited THREE WEEKS was a travesty. They had no record of my appointment (which had been made directly by my insurance company) nor could they find the materials I had texted to the office at their instruction 3 weeks earlier. It turns out, after a very unpleasant exchange that I had " texted " to their email address. They did, in fact, have it. Calls were made to the Medical group at UCLA (not the people who could help me) and finally I myself called the line reserved for Prestige plan patients (we pay a modest fee to the medical group to have help navigating the complex health system). Without reviewing my extensive records the representative (Brittany) could not help me immediately. I asked for a supervisor (Patricia) who for obvious reasons was apologetic but also unable to help. Since the staff had treated me like a criminal in the office--no appointment, no insurance, no right to be there (could it have been that they assumed only a homeless person would walk around with one shoe and one sock) I decided to leave and call my insurance company from home. Dr. Avakian, who had heard the entire saga from his office, followed me out to the street to apologize. He seems like a kind and competent man. But his staff is rude and careless. At home I was able to reach my regular navigator, Andrea, but my appointment in Westwood is not until January 2! By then my ties will either have healed or dropped off. This is the fault of modern healthcare not Dr. Avakian. His staff is a serious obstacle to getting appropriate treatment, but I am confident that if you can tolerate their rudeness your reward will be a capable and thoughtful podiatrist.
