Told the receptionist that I had an infected ingrown toenail and she quickly understood my pain and told me to be there by 3pm. Was quickly brought in and Dr. Nubar Ornekian, DPM immediately knew what to do for my specific and very severe case. He cut one-third of the affected toenail, excised the granular tissue, and debrided the wound. 10 minutes for a local anesthetic, 10 min for the procedure, 10 min to coagulate and bandage. Post-op instructions were easy enough, received a prescription for a round of antibiotics, and told to manage pain with NSAIDS. His bedside manner is great and very much has a wealth of expertise in his +30 years in the specialty. I would not hesitate to refer him to anybody else if you're lucky to snag an appointment. For context, I had been calling around for 1 hour and was lucky to have found him. When I called Urgent Care they said they do not have a specialist who would be able to help me in my situation, especially since I had already started antibiotics. When I called Huntington Hospital they said depending on the assessment of my toe I might be referred out for a outpatient surgery with a podiatrist. So happy to have found this clinic on Google Maps as most Pasadena clinics were booked out for at least 6 weeks, out on maternity/ paternity leave, etc. He is speedy, efficient, genuine, sincere, competent, and left me feeling confident in my post-op recovery. Very thankful for him and the pain relief he has provided me.

Even after the bones healed and the muscle damage resolved, I was left suffering with what my doctors diagnosed as CRPS. Every one of them had essentially cleared me, which left me desperate and out of options. I stumbled into Dr. Rilling's office practically off the street, just hoping someone would take a real look at my foot. He got me in within a few days. Right away, he noticed something the others had missed: an ingrown nail on my big toe. I'd had it treated before, but that previous procedure was so rough and painful that I'd needed Vicodin just to get through the recovery, and it turns out it was never properly resolved. A wrongly treated ingrown nail can actually manifest as CRPS, so identifying and correcting it was the key to my recovery. Dr. Rilling was willing to take on the challenge of fixing what someone else had botched, which a lot of doctors simply won't do. It ended up requiring three procedures and about six more months of recovery, but I finally feel healed. And if it ever comes back, I have complete confidence he'd help me again. On top of being an excellent podiatrist, he's genuinely kind, and his staff is just as helpful and welcoming. I would recommend Dr. Rilling to anyone looking for a great podiatrist!

He quickly identified the source of my foot issue - a fractured ankle from 20 years before that never properly healed, which led to the new issues I'd been dealing with. He took one look at my foot and he knew the issue of my foot pain, which a few subsequent tests later confirmed. My procedure could not have gone smoother. Although it was considered minor surgery (and my first time under general anesthesia), I felt the full love and attention from his entire team. I had run a marathon a few months back and my big toenail stopped growing. By just looking at it, he knew that it was a bone spur. Within weeks I had surgery, and I was back on my feet the next day. The process was smooth and seamless. Dr Joseph went above and beyond to make sure I was fully taken care of throughout the entire process. At my follow-up, he noticed my ankle was wobbly and asked if we could take a closer look. The MRI revealed three torn ligaments, four stretched ligaments, a partially torn Achilles, two bursitises, and inflammation throughout the ankle. I knew my ankle had gone through some wear and tear after years of running cross country and track, but I had no idea it was so bad. He treated everything. I spent one week off my foot, the next in a boot, and was running again within six weeks.
