Today's visit had Dr. Gray removing all of my uppers (only 11 left) for partial dentures. I am going through alot in my personal life & this visit had me more anxious than when I found out my complete 3rd degree heartblock, my incarcerated hernia or even my right lung PE. I was so nervous that it made me physically ill. I am not a worrier, except for today. I asked Dr Gray how he was feeling and told him that I said a prayer for him and his crew. Initially I had alot of pain but I am 11 hours post op and the bleeding has stopped and I have very little pain. His staff really make you feel as if they are a member of your family. Everyone is kind, gracious and caring. I couldn't recommend Dr Gray enough. And just like that last time, Keisha called after I had been home for a bit to see how I was doing. This level of care and customer service is hard to find.

I would strongly recommend that anyone with darker skin avoid this office and continue using the Norfolk location instead, where I have always been treated with dignity and respect. Today, I was told to come into the office, only to be informed--after I arrived--that I had a balance and they could not see me. No one asked whether I could pay the balance, nor did they mention that this would prevent my appointment. I have an HSA card and could have taken care of the balance immediately, but the way they handled the situation completely dismissed that possibility as I no longer wanted to trust them with my care!!! To make matters worse, they announced that I needed to step into the back for a "financial issue" in front of everyone in the lobby, which was both unprofessional and embarrassing--especially considering I have not been to this office in two years. Their assumption that I had no ability to pay, and the overall treatment I received, felt discriminatory. I have never been treated this way at the Norfolk location. This experience was unacceptable, and others deserve to be aware of how this location conducts itself. Wish I could give zero stars.

One has large gaps in front and behind the tooth, which causes food to constantly get trapped. The other implant is still painful and uncomfortable when I chew. I also told him repeatedly about sensitivity in two other teeth -- one in the lower right quadrant (sensitive to hot and cold) and one in the upper right quadrant (sensitive to cold). Despite bringing this up on three separate visits, he insisted nothing was wrong. I tried to be patient and give him the chance to make things right, but I finally left Gentle Dental and went to another dentist. At my very first appointment, the new dentist immediately identified the problems with my sensitive teeth and scheduled the first procedure to correct them. He also told me that one of Dr. Hooper's implants will likely need to be reworked. I am so disappointed in Dr. Hooper that I feel it's my duty to warn others. In my experience, the billing from the office of Dr. Timothy Perez was repeatedly inaccurate. I…read morehave now found a new dentist. Over the last five years, I have been billed incorrectly several times. Each time required considerable effort on my part to compare the office bills with my insurance Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), provide documentation, and explain why I believed the bills were incorrect. I often had to make multiple calls and leave voicemails that were not returned. I found the lack of communication and follow-through very frustrating. The most recent incident was the worst. A service was performed in February 2026, and my insurance processed the claim in March, showing that I owed $0. Despite this, I received three bills from the Perez office in June, July, and August for $35. I returned the first bill with an explanation of the discrepancy and received no response. I did not respond to the second bill, hoping the bookkeeping would catch up. It didn't. After the third bill, I called the office and explained the situation. I was told it would be investigated and that I would receive a call the next day. I didn't. I called again a week later and left another message. No return call. Several days later, when the office called regarding an appointment, I asked to speak with the bookkeeper. I was asked to provide documentation of the insurance payments. I explained that I believed the office should have that information. In frustration, I joked, "If you want me to be your bookkeeper, I'll take care of it. Hire me as your bookkeeper." I was told they would take care of it. Five minutes later, Dr. Perez called and told me to find another dentist. He told me that I didn't understand insurance and that the discrepancies were only a few dollars here and there. He did not address the specific discrepancies I had raised. This was the third significant billing problem in five years that I had to correct, in addition to other occasions when bills did not reflect insurance payments or adjustments. On one occasion, I received a bill showing that I owed $513 when my records showed that I owed only $123. I have spent many hours reconciling these bills with my insurance EOBs. My advice to patients is simple: carefully compare your dental bills with your insurance EOBs before paying. I'm glad I did.
