I mixed him up with a local chiropractor, and I have not been seen by Dr. Bernstein. I apologize.

She refused to work with my other doctors including one from the best hospital in the country (Cleveland Clinic) and that was just one. There were several others. She did not want me making my own decisions. Last Seotember I sat bawling my eyes begging her to help me because I was in so much pain and I knew I was sick. She couldn't get it through her stupid head I DID NOT want more or an increase in pills. I wanted her DAMN help! Three days later I went to the ER I had a blood infection that could have killed me and spent 9 days in the hospital. If I could sue her for malpractice I would. This woman has no compassion. I weaned myself off one of my narcotics and no longer take it.thats how much a drug seeker I was. My GP said fire her!! Before she hurts you further!!! Stay far far away from this clinic before you get labeled so etching your not!

My only complaint would be that it was exceptionally expensive but were always willing to work with me and ALWAYS made sure i didn't run out of medication. I just thought I'd write my experience since the only ones on here are by people who clearly got rubbed the wrong way by this clinic, which obviously wasn't my experience. going back for a second set of hip surgeries soon and wish I could go back here afterwards. cheers, y'all.

Since then, my regular pain management Dr referred me to someone else to replace the dead generator. It took my life changing experience back to where it was prior to Dr. Poree. I am sure he is a very smart guy but they need some serious work on their intake and front desk procedures. First off, I called and was sent a lengthy packet of paperwork to fill out stating that if it was not returned within 14 days it would be reported that I failed to do the required intake to my referring doctor. Being a long time chronic pain patient. Paperwork can be stressful but I understood and drove it to their office two days after receiving it to ensure I got it done and on time. I was told I would get a call soon. After a week I began to call often getting a full answering machine even during hours they are supposed to be open. . The message states all calls will be returned in four hours. Of course this assumes you can actually leave a message. I called 10 more times over three more weeks. Three times during open business hours again, the messages machine was full. The other times I left clear messages to please return my call and let me know the status of my intake. I left my name and number of course. Finally approximately a month and a half after dropping off my paper work, a woman called. She stated she had gone over my paperwork and thought I would be a great candidate for a spinal cord stimulator. I am not. I have bladder issues from peripheral neuropathy which make me a very very poor candidate. I was a bit shocked that before I even meet a doctor someone is already telling me what I need. I did not even know if she was a nurse, a doctor or just front desk staff. I explained my situation and what I was looking for in a new pain doctor. I was told I would get a call back from someone else the next day. Someone more knowledgeable. That call never came. Again I left message after message daily. Still often getting the full message machine. Considering what they charge surely they can afford an answering service manned by humans. Three months after dropping off my paperwork I got my second call back. This woman said this was the only message she had heard and apologized. She also stated they lost my paperwork!! After a short conversation, one that could and should have happened on day one, it was clear this doctor was not for me. They are too busy , poorly managed, extremely costly if you do choose to get treated there, and wasted three months of my time, not to mention the stress. This experience made it clear to me that this was the last place on earth I would want managing my chronic pain. Reading other reviews on other sites, this seems common place and a longtime issue they care little to fix.

Yes, some early kinks in the Capitola front office as a review has mentioned. New staff, Jasmine in particular -very patient, sets lovely, calming tone. They work with me, my schedule and insurance easily. Dr. Audry Payne - professional, compassionate, innovative and encouraging! Ingrid Chegari - a miracle worker who truly cares and will put you together again no matter what! Did I mention Dr. Li? Oh, OK - 5 stars for him, too. The action figure dressed in black behind the curtain. Magic! Good luck to anyone trying to find a better pain management practice here. With the DEA tying doctors' hands at every turn, we're fortunate to have Dr. Li and staff so close. They're cutting-edge and remain enthusiastic about the business of pain management.

I waited a long time to be referred to and to get an appointment with Prime Pain Medicine…read moreInstitute. As others have said, Dr. Li has absolutely no bedside manner and appears to have no interest in his patients. I think he was in the room with me for 5 minutes. He asked a couple questions, which I had already answered on the intake forms. I tried to volunteer information about my multiple forms of pain. He displayed no interest and quickly stated that he couldn't help me without knowing anything about my case or reviewing any of my records. I'm on blood thinners, so he decided (again without knowing anything about my case) that he couldn't do "injections" because of the blood thinners. That's one of the first questions on their forms. I submitted information to them in advance, so I really didn't understand why they even let me come in for an appointment in the first place. He asked me if my doctors knew I was on two blood thinners. Yeah, they know, they prescribed them. He said he had never heard of that. Really? Has he never encountered a Cardiac Patient before? My Stanford Cardiologist put me on a second blood thinner, so I'm pretty sure she knew what she was doing. He told his staff to refer me back to my PCP for a recommendation for Physical Therapy or Hydro Therapy or possible Acupuncture. I don't think any of those things are going to help. It just seemed like his dismissive technique before he quickly left the room. The entire experience made me feel weird and I was in more pain leaving than I was when I got there. I was under the impression that by going there, that they would try to figure out what is causing all of my pain and maybe come up with some solutions. Apparently that's NOT what happens there. The staff is unprofessional, but sadly I've gotten a little used to that in Santa Cruz County. I overheard some patients talking to the staff and they didn't seem happy. I've worked in Hospitals in a professional capacity and worked face to face with with more than 900 physicians. In addition, I've also been receiving ongoing care from so may physicians that I've lost track. I've met some arrogant, pretentious and dismissive physicians during that time that also had no bedside manner and obviously didn't care about patients and Dr. Li ranks in the top 10 based on my experience with him yesterday. I hadn't read any Yelp reviews before my appointment and I wish I had. I recommend NEVER going there. Look for another place to treat your pain issues. I'm going to try and leave zero stars, but I doubt Yelp will let me do that. If you see one star on this review, it's really a zero.
