It's a spring and summer must-stop for visitors, who come by the carload for a taste of locally-made ice cream or one of their many made-in-house candy treats. When my kids were little, we often camped at the nearby state park and rode our bikes here for some sweet goodness. Yesterday, my daughter and mom and I stopped in on a little Mother's Day trip to Blaine, and enjoyed some ice cream cones on their beautiful front porch. My daughter also bought some chocolate-covered confections to take home - and honestly, I'm regretting I didn't do the same. As far as candy and ice cream goes, their prices are definitely "tourist" level, but you do get what you pay for in terms of freshness, quality, and supporting a true Pacific Northwest family-friendly icon.

They had the usual assortment of tempting candies, nuts, and trail mixes. But what I did not expect to see was a grand selection of fancy bulks such as fancy nut butters, and an entire corner dedicated to baking. The store was tidy, clean, and we were promptly helped by staff when ready to check out. Just try and wander through the store without being tempted to buy twice as much as you intended! I only wish there were more places for the ties where you could write down the bin number, versus regular grocery store ties. The staff had to go back and check the numbers because I have forgotten the name of the trail mixes by the time I was ready to go to the till to check out. A minor note, but one that would be very useful as I think I may have been accidentally charged for the wrong bin item. A good place to go and wander up and down the aisles and walk out with a little something for yourself.

Their sweets aren't too sweet and have less additives and their chocolate is always smooth. Sure, they aren't as trendy as the new places popping up (like the classic Mink that hails from the city) but they have upped their game to have salted peanut butter and some better decorated chocolates.
