Candyland is exactly what the name of this store is. The place to go for your asian candies. Hi chew, popping candy, milk candy, even some American brands (sold in Asia market). I thought prices would be higher here but they are cheaper than the grocery stores nearby, and this place has a superior selection. Asian snack store in the heart of Aberdeen. The name is actually a misnomer as they sell more snacks than just candy. Snackland would've been a much more suitable name. Parking is available in the Aberdeen parking lot. Try not to get run over on the way in. The store layout is fairly typical Asian, which is basically a few partially sorted piles of sorted snacks. Those who grew up in Asia would probably be reminded of their childhoods. This place has a pretty large selection. Of course there's a premium compared to buying Western snacks, but everyone knows the Asian stuff tastes better because of all that MSG. read more

If you like Asian snacks and candy, this is a good option in the mall. They have a relatively large selection to choose from. I was looking for candy and bought some lychee gummies. Candyland indeed. This is a candy store near the food court at Aberdeen Centre. The candy selection offered here consists of mainstream Japanese and Chinese candies, alongside a few Western type candies but in untypical flavors. Selection is pretty fair. For the Japanese selections, I found Meiji chocolates here, alongside two flavors of kit kat. Sadly, no green tea kit kat though. I did get a coke & lemon choco kit kat ($2.25). A bit pricey, but since I am not going to Japan anytime soon, I took the opportunity to get it here. If you are looking to satisfy your Asian sweets fix, try Candyland. read more

****GREEN-TEA KIT KATS***** This place was probably one of the major highlights of my trip! They carry the elusive Green tea Kit Kat which I had been salivating over for days! In addition to this they carry a couple of other yummy green tea products. Unfortunetly they were not carrying the Oreo Waffers .... and being a speciality Asian Candy store they could probably consider carrying a bigger variety of Asian Candy. Also I bought $30 worth of Candy and when I asked the cashier if I could pay with $5 bill (Canadian) and the rest with the credit card he said I could ONLY pay cash OR card..not both. If there was a little bit more of a selection and if the cashier situation would have never happened this place would probably get a 4-5 star rating. read more

I felt like a kid in a candy store at this place! (Partly because it IS a candy store... but it definitely brought out my inner child, not that that's a hard thing to do. But I digress...) Located on the second floor of Aberdeen center (near the food court), the store is brightly lit and very neat - so even though it's packed with a lot of stuff it doesn't feel overwhelming. They have a lot of my childhood favourites I grew up with in Hong Kong (like candies, chocolates, gum, crackers, chips, and other snacks). CANDYLAND = AWESOMESS! Candyland is a great place to stock up on your asian snacks ranging from Japanese/ Chinese/Taiwanese & Hong Kong. The selection here is insane and you can always find your childhood favourites!! They have literally everything you can imagine, all the asian drinks, candy, gum, instant noodles, chips, pocky (over 10+ types), various chocolates (yes matcha everything here) and my favourite seaweed! Shocked and upset by two major changes with Candyland - first, they closed the original store in Yaohan Center. Second, they are no longer carrying toy packs - no Re-ment or the blind boxes with Gundam, Peko or Ultraman, among others. You can still find Pocky, jellies, sour plum, Pocari Sweat, etc, etc here...but I don't consider these items as hard to find or nearly as interesting as real, blind candy/toy boxes from Asia. They claim to have the lowest price in town for Lotte koala chocolate-filled biscuits, and I gladly took their word for it. I'm also a sucker for Tohato snacks but their prices are a bit more than Daiso's. In fact, if you're fixated on Japanese snacks only then head down to Daiso asap cos here you'll get more like a mixed bag of Asian goodies from everywhere. I have been to the store in the Yaohan Centre but found this store on the 3rd floor of the Aberdeen Centre food court. They have a bunch of different candies and snacks from Japan and all kinds of flavors of Pocky and Meiji chocolates. Bought green tea Kit Kats, which were a bit pricey, but heck where else can you find these unless you go to Japan? They also had Calpico drinks but was so estatic to find a Dragonball soda/drink. It might be an energy drink since I saw B2, B6, B12 on it. But I won't be drinking it anyway since it's part of my Dragonball Z collection. I ended up choosing the design with Vegeta's chest since they did not have Goku's or Truck's. Still happy to have found it though. Too bad they didn't have any Dragonball Z toy figures. Good place to go for some quick munchies before heading over to Silvercity, as long as you don't mind more Asian selection. In a good way, i'm forced to buy the sweeter stuff versus if i was at Save on Foods, then i'd be more inclined to munch on some nuts, seeds, something healthier lol. It's not as big selection as Metrotown but fits the niche. Good place to kill time while waiting for your food court food too. read more

Whenever I'm in my hometown, I stop by here to pick up my favorite treats. They have these cookie sticks that's covered in chocolate that I'm addicted to. They aren't Pocky but shorter and thicker. Grew up going to the old store at Yaohan Centre (which is apparently closed) every other weekend or so, because it was the only way my parents were able to bribe me to shop with them at the Chinese malls ("you can pick out something from the candy store there!") Anyways, enough about my childhood and onto the review. As mentioned by other reviewers, it's not JUST candy as you may think from the name. Yoghurt drinks, dried fruit, and packs of instant noodles are among some of the selections on the shelf. Some of the more uncommon offerings include fish meat sausages and dried shredded squid. I noticed that some of the candy items can be bought at Daiso as well for less, and yeah, most of the stuff is not exactly cheap but then again, they are a specialty store. Really been trying to eat healthier and cut down on sweets lately, but I still find myself walking in and just browsing from tiem to time just for the nostalgia and curiosity factor while that pack of green tea flavoured Kit-Kat on the shelf tempts me. read more

I love candy, especially candy from different parts of the world. I stumbled upon Candy Land while shopping at Aberdeen mall this week, however, was disappointed. I wasn't disappointed by the candy selection. In fact the selection was very fascinating to me, especially the green tea Kit Kat which I really wanted to buy. The disappointment really came from the customer service. I can't read Chinese or Japanese and I was very curious about some of the flavors, textures etc. The lady at the til seemed more annoyed with me 'cause I wasn't Asian and couldn't read the packaging and did not want to help me at all. I eventually gave up and just picked what looked like green tea and strawberry candy. I went to the til and they have a $10 minimum for Visa and debit. Since everything is priced fair, I would have a lot of candy for $10. $10 in candy just wasn't in my budget. I don't carry cash, I just don't. I offered to pay 25 cents transaction fee, however, the lady at the til was insistent that I buy $10 or more. I have no problem with a minimum, however, $10 seemed too much for a minimum when most places have a $5 minimum. When all was said and done, I ended up walking away with no candy. I guess this was a blessing in disguise from the diet gods. Aberdeen is an hour out of my way, therefore, the annoyance of having to come back urks me. The one cool thing that I enjoyed was the large TV playing J-Pop with a band that looked like the Japanese version of Destiny's Child. I was watching this for 10 minutes magnetized. read more
