I don't buy any frozen seafood anywhere else to cook at home but here. I always recommend my friends to buy seafood if they want to do a fish fry at their home to come and buy here because it's less expensive and larger amounts and fresh. They also have a small store inside with fishing tackle such as fishing weights, fishing Lors, fishing poles, clothes, Etc see you name it. It's a diamond in the rough that a lot of people don't know of.

The restaurant is much the same and the service was equally friendly. From among the choices that day, I opted for a menu item named seafood Florentina and would be eating inside the small but tidy restaurant. The platter was good, with the main ingredient - the fish - being tasty. The portion sizes were good and the accompanying salad and broth were appreciated. The presentation just didn't look like any other Florentine dish I've had. It was sort of "busy," with other ingredients I've not seen in Florentine presentations in the U.S. I think it's something they can revisit if they choose to. Note that this is a strong 3 stars for Fish King in Brownsville and it's for the restaurant. Note that it's much easier to approach this restaurant from Brownsville, traveling eastbound, so you can make a right turn between its entry pilasters to its parking lot. With all the business they do and loyal customer base, it's fairly obvious that the fish market itself delivers.

It's very small and more like a drive through restaurant and I was a little put off because the menu was mostly in Spanish but the owner was really friendly and after asking a few questions he suggested a spicy dish (that I don't remember the name of LOL) and it was soooooooo good! It had fish and shrimp with vegetables in a spicy broth in a tin foil with rice and a half avocado on the side. And since he wasn't busy at the time he gave us 2 complimentary fish soups that were so good I ate both. I'm not a big fish soup lover but I could eat that everyday. I'd highly recommend anyone that can visit this establishment do so! I'll probably go again today

Our waitress was attentive, friendly, and had a great demeanor to her. I started off with a Premier Corona to curb off any bad energy I might have walked in with & humbled myself to give this mom and pop joint a chance. The menu offers all your standard Mexican seafood staples. We went for the mariscada for 2 which was a terrific portion for two grown adults with a heavy appetite (mind you no app's were ordered). In the mariscada there was plentiful fish, shrimp, jalapeño cheese bites, fries, and onion rings. This was accompanied by two plates of rice, salad and two cups of consomé. The rice was flavorful & the consomé was super tasty, on the heavier side since it had pieces of shrimp and heavy handed spice but very memorable. The batter used on all the food was very palatable. Needless to say, dinner ended up being delightful. The manager rang us up and informed us that they would start having karaoke nights starting in January. The entire time they played great Mexican music that will have you strumming to the beat. So I'm positive their karaoke nights will be a hit. Tired or wanting to try a new Mexican seafood spot?
