This review is mainly for REBECCA…read more PROS: CCM was my first music school/music lessons! And my experience being taught by Rebecca was nothing short of amazing. I signed up for private guitar lessons (1-on-1) with Rebecca. They give you a free trial class (15 minutes), and if you enjoy it and want to continue, lessons are 30 min. each. And you get one lesson per week. In the short 30 minutes, I was able to learn SO much from Rebecca. She is patient, extremely talented and knowledgeable, and makes it easy to learn. You can tell she has a true love and passion for music. The female receptionist was sweet, and the studio had multiple rooms and was clean. CONS for the school: My only complaint is the price for lessons... It is so pricey for lessons being only 30 minutes long. & also, I did not appreciate the male manager's customer service. He is not warm at all.

Chris Mallett is such a great teacher, very patient, encouraging, and great with kids. He made learning guitar fun while still helping my children build strong skills and confidence. I highly recommend this school to any parent looking for a great place for their child to learn guitar. Thank you for instilling the passion for music in my children's lives!!

We searched everywhere for a good music therapist for him back in 2024, and we were so fortunate to have found The Music Place as well as a great therapist! Michael's patient and calm demeanor is really grounding and he meets each boy where they're at, offering corrections in a way that isn't discouraging. He was professional, easy-going, and simply an enjoyable character. He understood my needs and helped me adapt my learning style. He prepared an abundance of resources for the first lesson, leaving me feeling effortlessly equipped as a beginner. Despite my anxiety about playing in front of others, I never felt suffocated or judged. I feel more confident with my guitar, especially now that he showed me easier ways to play chords. I definitely recommend Mr. Young for lessons. They are superb value, and having my lesson online was easier for me and helped with my anxiety. He is truly a gem of a teacher.

Evan has been teaching my son drums for almost 11 years now, and I don't think I've ever left a…read morereview that felt this easy to write. What's stood out most is how much he's adapted over the years. My son is a completely different drummer (and honestly, different kid) than he was when lessons started, and Evan just... kept up. He's shifted styles as my son's interests changed, and at one point taught him jazz completely from scratch -- no background in it going in, and now it's one of the styles he plays most confidently. Evan never made any of it feel like a rigid curriculum, just patient, hands-on teaching that met my son where he was. Beyond the drumming, Evan has genuinely been a great male role model for my son -- steady, encouraging, easy to look up to. Some of that is just who he is, but you can tell it comes through in how he teaches too. There were stretches where the lessons were as much about mentorship as music. He also lives close by and has always been willing to come to our house to teach, which made a huge difference over the years. And in over a decade, his pricing has stayed reasonable and hasn't gone up once, which says a lot about how he runs things. If you're looking for a drum teacher who'll actually stick with your kid long-term, grow with them, and be someone they genuinely look up to, Evan's the one.

I believe it has to do with Mr. Evan's approach to learning but also having fun. She'll switch between songs and artists she enjoys playing along to and then they'll really get technical. Fresh out of a…read moreprolonged punk rock and Hardcore drumming phase, I told him I wanted to learn how to play dynamically. I didn't yet know I was being tutored by the most dynamic drummer I may ever play with. That was in 2009 - and now since having had the opportunity to tour the country with him several times over with our folk group, The River Monks, I have discovered these things about Joel: as a teacher he is mindful - of technique, and of the other person's abilities and what that student may be trying to achieve from the lesson time. He'll always be present with you even if that means just talking through some shit (pardon) that's been blockading your drive to learn and play music with purpose - he is someone I felt comfortable confiding in that way. And Joel will invite you to listen to new music, which is a blessing because Joel has good taste :)

Throughout that time I never really understood what "music theory" was. I told Rodney this after a couple months of ukulele and he just laughed and said "You already been doin it, brah." For all my years practicing piano, it has been being able to learn and play the ukulele with Rodney that has given me an appreciation for musicianship. It's playing, not practicing. It's fun and expressive, not work and repetition. Of course I have to put in the time myself to progress however Rodney makes sure we're having fun. I am also continually impressed with the other students as well. My years of piano background did help my learning curve... for maybe two months. Then my fellow classmates starting at the same time were right up to speed and we were jamming together. In my second year, a bran-new student joined the class and again, within two months he was up to speed and we were all jamming together. Young and old, I listen to amazing songs coming out of classes in the time slot mine. As a school, Rodney keeps us involved in reaching out by playing together at fun festivals, community events, or visiting elderly homes. I thought i signed up for just strumming some strings on a ukulele, but Rodney showed me what music can do for myself, my peers, and for the community. Without expecting it, I got a side of Aloha with each sheet music we play.
