They want tens of thousands of dollars we've always had problems with our teeth it's genetic and during the pandemic we both got pretty depressed. We don't like looking in the mirror so much unlike some people we know. Went to another dentist and ended up taking out insurance for the to the tune of about $65 a month. Then that Dentist tried to keep our $70 refund! Are you effing kidding me us? We knew immediately when the new patient coordinator said she would check to see if they took our insurance that they did not! Why can't they just do it as a courtesy considering we're paying out-of-pocket and you're gonna make us do all that paperwork? We just got through fighting for our rights to get certain entitlements that we have been on forever and if it had not been for Legal Services Of Hudson Valley we would be homeless! We're very tired of fighting with anyone or arguing with anyone for no reason at all. So we haven't been yet and if anybody has any information to tell us, please do. We want to be actually put to sleep because our teeth are in such registered shape and we blame ourselves and the fact that the pandemic shut down everything for over two years. We used to go to yoga right down the street three times a week and now we don't do anything but lie around in pain. We truly don't understand and maybe after we talk to the doctor, she or he will make them put in for the insurance that we've been paying for since last April on a regular monthly basis we didn't realize that the last Dentist we saw had his secret plan in place to shunt us off to a Sedation Dentist, which we had never even heard of! We would never have taken out that insurance had we known of his secret plan and no, we're not gonna tell you his name. You guess. Look at our ratings and you'll be able to figure out who it is, but we don't want to start a war. Dentist are pretty much nuts in our opinion. They're nuttier than any other fields that we can think of that's because everyone scared to go to the dentist because it hurts so much. We told that Dentist that pond us off to a Sedation Dentist this information immediately. Apparently that was enough to offend him, or whatever happened in his mind, we're not sure, but it doesn't seem right.

Don't look any further as Dr. Dolman is the one you are looking for. I had three wisdom teeth that…read moreI needed to remove since one of them was erupting sideways. I was recomended by my hygienist to have it removed before cavities begin to form due to the difficulty of brushing the area so I did some research and looked for referrals from friends. I previously removed a wisdom tooth a few years ago but put off removing the other three as I didn't want to be stuck eating soft foods for another three weeks again. I scheduled a consultation with Dr. Dolman and that was when I knew Dr. Dolman was extremely knowledgeable and I could trust him with this procedure. Dr. Dolman is not pushy like a number of doctors are. Rather, he explains what would happen if you don't remove certain teeth and what would happen if you do. His explanations were clear and helped me prepare mentally for what I was about to go through. Doing any sort of dental work is usually pretty scary and pulling wisdom teeth is one of the scariest procedures for me due to the fears of dry sockets and things going wrong. However, Dr. Dolman is very experienced and goes above and beyond to make sure that his patients are safe, comfortable, and at ease before, during and after the procedure. Did I mention that during the procedure, I didn't feel a thing and was very relaxed? I didn't think that could be possible in a situation where someone would be yanking your teeth. What makes Dr. Dolman stand out is the experience post operation. I was provided a printout of what to expect for the next few weeks during recovery, what to eat and how often to change gauzes. In addition, Dr. Dolman gave me his number so I could text and call him if I had issues. He followed up periodically to check in and see how I was doing and answered questions I had very patiently. Dr. Dolman truly cares for his patients and I highly recommend everyone who needs oral surgery go to him. He is the best and I recommend all my friends to see him.

By 12pm he had checked my teeth and I had an appointment the next day for emergency wisdom tooth removal. The surgery was a success and the recovery process was smooth. Dr. Jamali was very kind, understanding, and knowledgeable. He let me decide whether I wanted to take all my wisdom teeth out or just two and he let me decide if I wanted to do same day surgery or next day. Very pleasant experience!

Coming from a family of physicians, I found it highly unusual for patients to pay upfront when insurance covers it, but I was willing to proceed. He became very defensive, saying "Cigna is awful to deal with" and "I've been burned many times" - this is highly unprofessional for a doctor to vent personal frustrations to patients about insurance issues. I confirmed the Monday appointment during our call, saying, "I will see you Monday." I then called my insurance for clarification and received multiple confirmation texts from his office plus detailed pre-op instructions. When I arrived Monday, he looked shocked and said, "Well, you're here. I'm shocked you're here. Especially with how that conversation went." From my perspective, there was nothing wrong with how the conversation went. I simply asked clarification about the payment amount. He claimed I was supposed to call back to confirm and that was "the last thing" he told me, which was completely false. I had confirmed, called his office promptly after receiving confirmation texts, and even received a procedure bill via email after our Friday call, plus multiple call logs with his office that day. Already anxious about wisdom tooth complications I'd heard about from others, I apologized kindly for any confusion (even though I knew I had confirmed) and offered to reschedule. He dismissively said "let's get this over with," which made me very uneasy. I called my family expressing concern and debated proceeding. During prep, I mentioned drinking a tiny bit of water that morning due to dry mouth. He nodded and explained the procedure. Before starting, when I asked for clarification if the small amount of water would affect sedation (being nervous about my first time under full sedation), he accused me of "changing my story" and "going back and forth." I was stunned - I had just told him about the water moments earlier and was simply double-checking for safety. He shook his head, sighed, and repeated "Why are you going back and forth?" When I asked again if I'd be fine, he said "you've asked me if you'll be fine 3 times" and "did I do something to not make you trust me?" I've never experienced such unprofessional behavior from any medical professional. When he asked if I wanted to postpone and I said yes, he pressured me: "Well, are you sure? We're booked. So you might as well just do it now." I left and received my refund at the front desk. While he has 5-star reviews, read his 1-star reviews carefully - other patients detail similar encounters with incredible rudeness and unease, especially when costs are discussed. A physician should be professional and understanding, answering all questions with patience regardless of cost, especially when insurance is involved. I recommend finding a doctor who treats all patients with consistent kindness, doesn't let administrative issues affect their demeanor, and answers questions with sincerity. I've never felt this way with a medical professional and hope others don't experience what I did. Best of luck.

Tooth Implant: in-progress review!…read more I knocked out my permanent front tooth as a kid. Back then it was back in but the tooth has honestly plagued me ever since. It lasted me almost 30 years, but the time has come to get an implant as my tooth cracked and was one wrong bite away from falling out of my mouth. My dentist gave me a few recommendations of places I could go to for this. All of them wanted to do the typical 6-9 month process of extraction & bone graph. wait to heal. Install implant, wait to heal. None of them suggested an attached temp tooth. I called up Havemeyer Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and spoke with Perri who was an absolute joy to speak with. She was hyper informative, didn't rush me off the phone or anything - she put a lot of emphasis that this needs to be done right as it's my front tooth! Which was not something other surgeons said on the phone. I was seen a few days later for the consultation. Did an X-ray and then discussed pricing. I agreed and immediately after we did imaging - 3D cat scan and teeth scan which they combine in software to do a total 3d model of me. The tech they use is absolutely cutting edge. They run this prior to surgery because Dr. Stern literally plans the exact spot to drill before surgery. They scheduled me the next day for surgery, which was awesome, but also super nerve-racking. Dr. Stern is by far the coolest doctor I've ever dealt with. Really down to earth guy, super knowledgeable and happy to explain everything. Overall the extraction and implant went super smooth and was only minimally painful. That 3D model they made was used during surgery to make sure they are drilling in the exact spot and the exact length of a hole for the implant. Truly awesome tech! Everything went well and I went home no issues. The best part - they put in a plastic 3d printed tooth as a temp, so no 'flipper' that has to come in and out. They printed this on site. As a lover of tech, this was just amazing. About 9 days later, my temp came loose. Nothing super out of order, but at the time, it was very very nerve-wracking and unsure if it was something serious. Dr. Stern literally drove 4 hrs and saw me at 10pm Sunday night on a holiday weekend. Forget about doctors, idk how many people would do this for a client. He tightened the tooth and we're back on track for things to heal. I don't like going to the dentist. Who does. But honestly, I'm absolutely looking forward to going back in 2 months! This has been without a doubt the most stressful things I've ever gone through medically, and somehow I ended up in the hands of the most awesome people ever. Also, what a power couple! Thanks Dr Stern and Perri!

Everyone was warm and welcoming from the start- including the receptionist, Stef the dental assistant, and Dr. Angela Kim. I liked that Dr. Kim gave me the option to put on a stronger temporary cement for my crown in case I had to wait longer for my permanent. Also, I liked how Stef noticed the dental light was shining in my eyes and moved it. The office is beautiful and I liked that they didn't push any extra products. I do think they are a bit pricey compared to my regular dentist, but for an emergency visit it was well worth it for me.

If your teeth are otherwise fine and you are having no difficulties and this practice starts acting dramatically, painfully probing your gums claiming you have alarming bone loss and telling you you need more than a regular cleaning, like a deep cleaning or dental scaling and root planing as they told me, run and get a 2nd opinion stat!!! I did and found out from a reputable practitioner that East Madison exaggerated my bone loss, suggesting that I would soon lose my teeth, evidently to frighten me into agreeing to a totally unnecessary, painful and expensive procedure. I was told by my new dentist who also gently checked that my bone loss was not severe and I was not at risk for losing my teeth, dhouldI live to be 100 as long as I continue to take care of them as I have. East Madison is a multi-practice complete with endodontists and state of the art, expensive equipment and the money to pay for it all reasonably has to come from its clients. Understandable, that there would be a somewhat larger bill at such a practice if run ethically. Unfortunately, the temptation to push unneeded procedures must be high. Better to go to a well-reviewed small practice. I found this article useful and hopefully you will too if you find yourselves in a similar position.
