My mother-in-law and sister-in-law had been here before, so they knew it was great and brought us back, along with my husband's grandparents. Do take note, you have to book your table in advance. We sat in one of the backrooms which was very cozy and inviting, albeit a bit noisy from a rowdy group of "ladies who lunch," but it was fine once they left. We all really appreciated that savory items were included in the the afternoon tea. The menu features a selection of sandwiches, savouries, a cup of soup, a bucket of chips, a selection of cakes and a mini trifle. Plus your choice of a pot of tea or cup of filter coffee. I was happily surprised at the wide variety of teas! There was ample to eat. My husband and I ate our entire afternoon tea, but everyone else in our group had a few sweet treats left to take home. The food was very delicious. I loved the little quiche best along with the soup served in a cute tea cup and saucer! Plus, the little basket of chips was a nice touch! Scrumptious! Also, it's just 14 pounds for Afternoon Tea which I think it a great value for such a delicious savory tea. Arabica is a small coffee shop located in the centre of Thirsk. A highchair is available but I haven't found it over child friendly, particularly when you have a pushchair with you as its just too narrow and as well as sit-in customers there are regularly people coming and going as they offer takeaway food and drinks also. That said the staff are welcoming and accommodating and the huge range of hot and cold drinks and foods (paninis, cakes, salads etc) is amazing, high quality and reasonably priced. Its an ideal place to come for a quiet coffee to read your morning paper or to meet a colleague but is too small to talk privately. Parking is available in the town centre and the town operates a 2hr hour free parking scheme which is disk operated (watch out the wardens are keen!).

Get their pesto and mozzarella panini, very yummy. They also have small or large English breakfast (both regular and veggie). The best part? I haven't had anything at this cafe that was over £5. A filling panini with chips and coleslaw is £4.50. The mocha and hot drinks are £2.20 and under. I've heard their milkshakes are delicious and they're only £2.
