We were thrilled when our younger one got picked from the lottery to enroll in this charter school,…read moreand we were really excited when our older one got picked as well (they give preference to siblings attending the same school). My kids have made friends and seem to like it here. There isn't bus service, but I would have had to drive and pick my kids up either way due to bus driver shortages. This is a small school, and the faculty know everyone and their kids here, which is refreshing compared to a larger school. They also don't give homework, which my kids and I love not having that eat up our afternoons for no reason. They claim to teach a regular curriculum but with an artsy twist, making the learning fun and engaging. As far as how much they actually live up to that claim, my older one indicates that they tend to be lacking in that department. Still, I think we prefer it here to your standard public school.

The idea is to teach them lessons not only through words, but also visual, audio, and even performance lessons. Dance class is the dance of the molecules. While the current science lesson would be the phases of matter. Plenty of overlap and reinforcement. My kids LOVE it there. They dont notice the lack of a traditional gymnasium. Teachers are all very nice. Tutoring and special assistance is available for kids that need it. And the parent community is very invovled - and non judgy... because most of us are artists. All these reasons are why I have a third child starting there in the fall.

Best school ever. I'm a junior and it's frankly awesome to be a part of this community. Anyone who…read moresays that they have been bullied, Gabriela V., is just frankly wrong. I have never experienced harassment or abuse from any teacher at this schoo. Can teacher be angry yes, can they be mad yea but they always apologize after the fact. However kids can be mean and that is a part of life so to anyone who says that they needed therapy, cope. You'll get passed it and if you can't talk to a teacher or adult. Thank you.

I was coming from a school and teacher body that told me I was capable of everything I put my mind to (and I did) and very progressive. In contrast, West Forsyth was a stark difference from the world I'd known. In all honesty, there were two teachers I would say you have to watch out for, Smith (AP English) and Martin (AP World, I believe). I won't go into detail, but if you're a minority student - this is a school that is not open minded (go figure, it's the south) and you will get discriminated and told that your work was 'not done by you' because how could a minority student be capable of such? Luckily, I got into the college I wanted by my own accord. I wish North Carolina really paid attention to who they hire as a teacher, but it seems this is all by design.... If you're an educator, do better and be better. Don't teach kids if you haven't worked on yourself as a person. Oh, and if you don't like kids... what are you doing with your life, seriously?

My son had a game against this school yesterday 10/25, and I am utterly disappointed in the way the…read morestudents and family members of the school acted. It's such a shame that this is a Catholic school and the students and their families behaved the way they did. Not only were they yelling inappropriate things from the stands at our team, a racial remark was made to my other son by a group of students he walked by, when going to get a blanket out of our vehicle for me. Not only does this school need to teach the students the core values that children learn in elementary school such as; kindness, respect, integrity and diversity. The also need to teach them about racism and the ignorance surrounding that. To make a very rude comment to a young man that was only walking to his car, was very cowardice and ignorant. Because those students were in a group, and I know for a fact had they desperately been alone, or had my son been in a group, the comment would have never gotten made. So whoever is the Director over Bishop McGuinness High School, your students have the right name: Villians. Because that's exactly what they acted like. Do a better job at directing these kids. Because they as well as their parents and families should have known better. Such a disgrace.
