I've never had a salon add a charge that way. It was unethical and sneaky I also had trouble booking online, so I called. I paid extra for an offer that included a second haircut at no charge. No one told me the second appointment had to be **within four weeks**, and I wasn't given a card or anything explaining that deadline. I would never have bought the offer if I'd known. When I called to book the second cut after five weeks, I was told they couldn't honor it because I was one week past the deadline. The person I spoke with said they would ask a manager, given that the restriction hadn't been explained to me. No one ever called me back, even though I called twice. The haircut itself was okay, but it absolutely was not worth $65, an undisclosed fee, and a tip. The sneaky service fee, sketchy promotion, & lack of follow-up made the experience considerably worse. I expect a salon charging these prices to be upfront about its fees and the terms of what it sells. Obviously a business that relies on heavy one-time fees with no expectations of return clientele.
