We are busy the rest of the week with work so our Valentines Dinner landed us close to home at Rey Azteca tonight. He ordered the Texanas Fajitas and I ordered 2 steak asada street tacos with a side of a single cheese enchilada. He devoured his food and I enjoyed my tacos. I didn't care for the cheese enchilada and the bourse margarita was just okay. The flan was also delicious. It was super quick which gave us time to visit the establishment next door!

I drove by this place so many times and finally decided to give it try and as a first time eater here and someone who is a Texan and was raised off Tex-Mex, I was very pleased!!! Nice bar with outdoor seating with an open view of the restaurant and patio. Great menu options and service and food reminded me of San Antonio. Will definitely be going back.

Rey Azteca, Mary Washington location. We've eaten at the Carl D. Silver location numerous times. It has officially become our favorite Mexican restaurant. We actually live closer to the Mary Washington location, so we decided to give it a try. Different vibe. It was really clean (both locations are). They brought out a basket of hot chips, salsa and that white mayo dip, that you can only find at some Virginia Mexican restaurants, that in my opinion, is absolutely disgusting (my weird husband loves it!) The other location doesn't bring that to the table, which I am good with. Ordered tableside guacamole for $10.99. It is not made tableside, which the waitress informed us of. I said, 'As long as it didn't come from a jar, because I only like fresh guac'. She said that it wasn't from a jar. When it came, it didn't look fresh, and tasted like perhaps it was jarred guacamole with some chunky avocado and tomato added in. It also wasn't anywhere near the amount that we received when we got fresh, true, tableside guacamole from the other location. Furthermore, it didn't taste good at all. We were going to suck it up, but I went ahead and brought it to the attention of our waitress. She then said that they make a big batch, and just scoop it out. But she was kind enough to take it off our bill. I feel like if you are paying $11 for a bowl of "tableside" guacamole, then that's what you should get. Tableside. Otherwise, drop the price. For our entree, we ordered the Fajitas Texanas for one. It was hot and enjoyable overall. It wasn't as seasoned, as the fajitas at the other location, and the steak was more rubbery. Service was good. But we're going to continue to frequent the Carl D Silver location, for preference.

In short, Rey Azteca did not disappoint and is worth visiting. The restaurant opened in December 2020 and it definitely looks like a lot of thought and preparation was put into opening it. Rey Azteca is now where a sports bar used to be. While there's not much the two have in common, the new owners definitely gave the restaurant a cheery feel with brightly colored walls and Mexican tile on the wall. The sports bar's TVs are still around and are a good balance to the Latin music playing in the restaurant. As soon as you're seated, chips and salsa are served. I really liked that the restaurant uses corn chips, not the super white and thin kind; these are true yellow corn chips. The salsa was good but the best part of it was the "salsa blanca" (white sauce) the chips are also served with. The sauce is house made and has a tangy, peppery, and sweet kick to it. I had never had anything like it. I was basically sold on the restaurant after eating all the chips and all the salsas. The menu is extensive, so check it out before visiting. They have breakfast-like items--perfect for brunch on weekends. They also have a good selection of lunch specials, which average $9-10 an entree. I ordered the lunch chicken flautas and it was filling. My entree was served with yellow rice, lettuce, and guacamole. The two lightly fried flautas were exquisite and had a thin queso poured over them. My companion had Lunch #12, which consisted of a chicken flauta and a beef enchilada. His dish was served with yellow rice and beans. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and think we've found a local favorite. There is ample parking in the shopping center. The restaurant has a bar area and a room for (possibly) private dining. There's also an outdoor patio area, perfect for happy hour or al fresco dining when the weather is warm. The restaurant is kept very clean and the restrooms are also maintained very well (I can only speak to the ladies restroom).

The food was great! The service... that depends on how you feel about being accused of walking out on your check and the waitress walking to your guest in the parking lot and charging their card after you already paid with the electronic payment system. She also made several inappropriate statements to my guest while I was walking to the ice cream shop. The system gave me a thank you clearance, sent me a receipt, and took the money out of my account. My guest called me confused and I walked back to the restaurant. When I confronted the waitress, she said she didn't have the receipt I used to pay and wouldn't listen to me explaining how I paid and left her over a 20% tip. I asked for a manager and she said "I am the bar manager." I explained I need a manager who understands the point of sale system. The limited English speaking house manager handled it very well and refunded my guest who was charged. I asked if they receive electronic payments from the barcodes at the bottom of their checks and he said yes. I asked if the waitress would get a tip and he said yes. So I asked if I was good to leave and he said yes. The waitress apparently told my guest that we didn't look like the "type of people to walk out on a check"- we aren't Jennifer! Obviously their payment system needs some help.

Whenever I order shrimp fajitas or tacos, I always end up with like five shrimp to accommodate that meal. Disappointing right? Well Rey's Azteca doubled that in size and amount and I have shrimp to take home. The food was good. I did not get to finish with the heat and all. However, if you have a thing for Mexican restaurants, then I recommend Rey's. The frozen Mango margarita was pretty mango-eeee lol but where was the liquor? frozen drinks always give me a buzz but the buzz i caught was from the itis and needing a nap. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing to complain about. If you like your queso with no kick to it, then you would enjoy this. I enjoy the spice! The food and the service was superb! I would even come back!

Excellent food, good selection of beer and cocktails The complimentary chips and salsa are delicious. I had the fajitas Texas, (beef, chicken, shrimp) lots of meat. The onions and peppers were good as well as the tortillas. Add rice, beans, lettuce, and guacamole... who could ask for more. Came here for lunch just wanted to try something different; we sat outside it was a beautiful day. Waiters were nice and the menu had reasonable prices. I ordered the street tacos they were good but I didn't like how the meat was chopped up too much. I might come back to try other dishes on the menu.

Had late lunch / dinner with hubby here and the food was great. The sauce on the side of the four tacos I had was very spicy I thought it would be like I mild salsa I was wrong though it was still good.

Tried to order three different beers, and every one of them was "not available today," which is restaurant talk for "the truck's late and so are we." Artie the bartender just gave this little shoulder shrug that said, "Partner, I don't make the rules, I just open the bottles." The place itself helped the afternoon along. The building is laid out so you can see just about everything from your stool: bar, tables, who's coming in the door, and whether your food is on its way. Sightlines were wide open, nothing cluttered or cramped, and the whole joint looked super clean, like somebody actually cares what it looks like before the crowd shows up. So we did what any sensible, thirsty people would do: picked two other beers, ordered some apps, and decided not to take life--or the tap list--too seriously. The beer we got was cold, the food was hot, and Artie turned out to be the kind of bartender you come back to see more than you come back for the menu. We'll be back, too. Lewis would've gotten a whole column out of that shrug. The food was excellent, too. The fish bites alone just about made the afternoon; if the beer list had completely fallen apart, we still would've called it a win on those.

Since learning that, we have made our own oyster tradition and seek to have them in January because it can't hurt! I saw that Port Oysteria was participating in FXBG restaurant week which is happening now and thought it was a great opportunity for us to try someplace new and get our oysters. While we did not order anything from the restaurant week specials (there was only one at lunch, and a couple more after 3pm) my wife and I did enjoy a nice lunch today. The chargrilled oysters were just right for us to share as a starter and very tasty. My wife had the fried oyster po-boy and I had the blackened grouper sandwich; both were delicious. The coleslaw was good as was the Parmesan mashed potatoes. There is a good beer selection on tap and an interesting cocktail list. Our first beer choice was out, but our backup choices were good. Service was good but the restaurant was not very busy. The atmosphere is interesting with moody, dark painted walls and bold murals and a mix of '90s grunge and alt-pop music in the background. We definitely want to go back for dinner sometime and try more of the menu.

They did a phenomenal job creating such a magical atmosphere--I honestly wish they could keep the decorations up all year . While waiting for our table, we grabbed seats at the bar and ordered cocktails. I had the prickly pear margarita, and she ordered a cider sour. Both were fantastic, though I wish the bar had mentioned the holiday cocktail menu earlier. I didn't learn about the festive drinks until we were seated and our server, Lindsay, walked us through the winter specials. The "Sweater Weather" cocktail sounded amazing (white tequila and coconut milk ) and is definitely something I'll be back to try. We stuck with our go-to appetizer, the goat cheese bruschetta, which was delicious as always. For entrées, we went classic brunch: the hangover burger and the shrimp and grits. My girlfriend loved her burger, and Sedona's shrimp and grits remain one of my absolute favorites--perfectly seasoned and cooked. Even though we were full, we couldn't pass up the seasonal dessert, tiramisu. It was the perfect size--just enough to share without pushing us over the edge. Lol. Another successful meal at Sedona! The service is consistently top-notch, and our server Lindsay was hands down the best--knowledgeable, attentive, and with an amazing personality. We loved her so much, we wished she could've joined us for brunch. The manager also stopped by a couple of times to check on us, which we really appreciated. If you haven't experienced Sedona yet, you are seriously missing out. And definitely ask to sit in Lindsay's section!

First, let's start off with the wait. I'm used to waiting for a table at Sedona especially on a Saturday, but today the wait was extra long. Once we sat and ordered appetizers it took over 40 minutes to get our apps. To make matters worse our nachos came out with the cheese not even melted and with barely any protein. Seeing as this was not the first time I ordered nachos I was extremely upset. To address the issue I had to leave my outside table and walk inside to the hostess to see if they could locate my server as she never came and checked on us. We didn't see her for over 50 minutes :-/ The only star of today's lunch were the Thai glazed wings. My husband ordered the land and sea and steak was overcooked. My devils pass pasta was okay, but extremely greasy. The manager did stop by to offer something for the nacho issue which we appreciated. Sedona you need to work on hiring more staff to make things run smoothly. You seem to be understaffed in the kitchen and on the floor. We left feeling extremely disappointed and will not be returning for a long time. Also forgot to add that the strawberry tres leches cake is extremely dense and flavorless. Did not enjoy and do not recommend.

Yes, there are "trendy" restaurants downtown with a larger and rotating, seasonal, or farm-to-table menu. But Olde Towne Steak & Seafood is wonderful. The steak is always cooked to perfection, the shrimp in the Shrimp Cocktail are ENORMOUS, the stuffed mushrooms are (chef's kiss), their cocktails (especially dirty martinis) are wonderful, and their prime rib is as big as an infant's head. The interior could use a bit of an upgrade. I went there for my Senior prom in 1990 and although it is still cozy and inviting -especially fireside-the clean, classic decor could use a bit of a perking up. No minor issues like decor can obscure the wonderful service! A LOT of servers in this area consider waiting tables just a job to be done and gotten over with and customers a nuisance. Whether they truly feel it or not, the staff here present themselves as practicing their vocation. But none of this compares to the warmth and personal attention of Mrs. Hyon Harding, the owner. Mrs. Hyon always greets you like you are a welcome guest - not a dollar sign.
