As this pharmacy and walk in clinic is close to home I stopped in to see a Dr and have a couple prescriptions renewed that I have been on for years.
I walked in, told the ladies at the desk that I only needed to refill perceptions, and was told it was a 1.5 hour wait (no biggie). As I was checking in I noticed a sign for a "fast track" program. It said that those without immediate medical concerns could see a RN for things like prescription refills. I asked about the program, to which one of the ladies said, "I'm not sure how to set that up and we have just had a system change this morning and I don't know how to use these new programs" - Which was fine, she got up and asked for help. Turns out not one of the ladies behind the desk knew how to do this - so they just told me they would speak to the nurse and she would be right out. Have a seat. So I did. And I waited an hour.
After an hour, I went to the desk to ask how much longer this could take being that this was the fast track program, and the wait for those to see a DR was only 30 min more than what I had waited so far.... Good news! The nurse is right there so she can ask her!!! Her reply?? "Oh. I'm going on lunch" It was a good thing I was standing right there, otherwise she would have just ducked out - thank god the other lady told her that I had been waiting for an hour and I was in the fast track program. I was brought back to a room IMMIDIATELY.
Where to start.
-The bed liner (paper) was torn, disheveled, crinkled and wet with discolouration on it. I sat in a chair rather than touch it. More on this later.
-Urine and blood samples on the counter
-mini fridge with a lock on it, warnings all over the place that all bodily fluids must be in the fridge, and locked.
-Half open drawers with food in them
-An overflowing sharps container, with an open lid.
So the nurse comes in. Doesn't make an effort to clean anything up or re-dress the bed. Whatever, she's pissed that I'm keeping her from lunch. I tell her I need my prescriptions and that I can't make it to my Dr's office for a couple of weeks.
For some reason her reply was, "Please sit on the bed we need to take your blood pressure"
SO I WALKED OVER TO THE BED, PULLED ALL THE PAPER ALL THE WAY DOWN UNTIL IT WAS BORDERLINE SANITARY AND THEN PLOPPED MYSELF ON THERE. I didn't even rip the end off. Just left it in a ribbon on the floor. SHE DIDN'T SAY A THING.
So, she takes my blood pressure. Goes and sits at the computer and asks "When was your last Pap test?" I answer her and tell her if I need to book one, I can with my regular Dr and that I am here for prescriptions.
She says "I can't do prescriptions, my printer is broken, and I'm going on lunch. You're going to have to see a Dr. I'll tell him" Gets up and walks out
I sit for hours
Here's what else I noticed:
-on top of the mini fridge, was wrappers from bandages and gauze
-also on top of the mini fridge was a vile of something injectable with no lid on it and holes in the rubber seal
-the fridge wasn't locked
-inside the fridge was more bodily fluids and bottled water, just in case
Just before I was getting up to leave, a man opened the door 3-4 times within a 10 min period and said "oops, sorry" and backed out
Out at the front I was invited to go sit in another office, to which my reply was "No. I think there is something you should see" as I had asked to speak to the clinic supervisor/manager.
She follows me back to the room and says "Oh, this shouldn't have been left like this. But none of this stuff can harm you. I'll have the doctor in to see you right away" and leaves me in the dirty room again.
5 min later the same man that was walking in and saying "oops, sorry" comes in, writes me my perscriptions, and I'm done.
Such a disgusting cluster f*ck. Go somewhere else.
