Tony ended up staying open late to perform all of the artwork I was hoping to complete, he turned my 2 hr session into a 6.5 hour accommodation. And the work was exactly what I envisioned to fill in my arm. Tony followed up with me to thank me for coming in and offered condolences over the loss of my parent, this is next level human connection people. In my 30 years of being tattooed, this is what I've learned is value in the experience and in finding the right one to do the work. This is how I responded: "Please call me Andy. Thanks for the steady 6.5 hours of work Tony, you're a beast! I am super happy with the outcome. I appreciate the kind words about my mom, I've unfortunately become accustomed to loss, although that doesn't make it easier when someone we love moves along to the next journey. As I was laying there, zoning into a meditative space, I realized that having a calm soul tattoo us those things that we hold dear is in a lot of ways a form of effective therapy. A healthy way to take some time to center and reflect and use pain and expression to act as shepherds towards transition... where the trauma of the spirit and the trauma of the body can move together in healing. Keep doing what you do for society sir..., for the happy, and the sad, the found and the lost...and those of us that seek a unique brand of therapy under the needle. Till next time my guy. -Andy II" Go see Tony, talent is locked in, vibe is mellow and accepting, cost is beyond fair and competitive and trust is easily established.

I came in on the last day of February at 3pm. I was wanting something very simple. An anchor on my…read moreneck. I mentioned Good Time Time Charlie's , Jack Rudy, and Freddy Negretti...Traditional anchor...black and gray, awesome shading, sweet thin lines...Ricardo assured me he was the man for the job. It took this man an hour to trace the flash anchor from the iPad and it took him another two hours to apprehensively ink it on my neck. At one point I asked Ricardo if he was using a single needle to shade due to me arriving at 3 and it nearing 7pm. I can't speak for any of the other artists who are employed there, but do yourself a favor if Ricardo is the only artist available (I use the term loosely) do yourself a favor and run! I messaged the owner the following morning to explain how dissatisfied I was with the atrocity that is now on my neck. I showed Tony , the owner the tattoos I have, and then I showed him the tattoo that Ricardo did. Instead of saying wow, I don't know what happened, but please come in and I myself will fix that! Tony is much more worried about me leaving poor reviews because they are a small shop in a small town. If Tony was really that concerned about his image on social media and yelp, or whatever other reviews people are looking at, he would've stepped up and done the right thing, instead he insisted that I allow Ricardo the opportunity to fix this trash he took three hours to ink and I'm supposed to have faith he will do a better job?! Tony rapidly recited "We have everyone sign a release before we lay hands on you. You're an adult and knew what you were in for. Then Tony suggested my age, my complexion and area were to blame, not Ricardo-the artist-then Tony stated Necks are difficult to tattoo. I bet back surgery is hard too. You don't see the doctor asking for you to heal up and give him another chance! I was laying on my left side in the chair laid all the way down. Ricardo is a large man and had his enormous elbow pressing on my head the entire time. I couldn't move, in fact I attempted to stop him several times to shift and pee...he never heard me. Too busy grinding that jaw and bitching at the female tattoo artist about her music choice girl, you've got impeccable taste!) It's a bad artist that blames the canvas for the piss poor work. I had a tattoo done on the opposite side of my 47 year old Casper white neck a month before and it's tight AF. AND I was sitting backwards on a chair, drunk AF and rolling around the shop singing like maniac. They saw a short haired wrinkled white woman walk in and thought oh this will be easy. I did agree to let Ricardo have another crack at it because Tony left me with no other options. I never asked for a refund or for someone to work for free. Ricardo was paid 250 bucks for this trash. He can pay for someone who knows what they are doing to fix it. OR the owner who wants to succeed in his business and doesn't want me to write an honest review should have said No problem girl. I will personally fix you up. Do NOT go to this shop. I hope the lil girl goes to work somewhere else. Here is my tattoo...to honor my man who was murdered while at work last July. Thanks. You made it unforgettable! I am being a jerk but I'm truly trying to save the unsuspecting client.

I have Stage 4B cancer. I was diagnosed while I was spending the summer in Yellowstone, and during…read morethe absolute nightmare that followed, the bison became my power animal. They represented strength, resilience, survival, and the absolute refusal to quit. So I decided to get a tattoo that represented everything I've been through, everything I'm still going through, and everything I will continue to face. This wasn't a random tattoo. It meant something to me. A LOT. And unfortunately, I chose the wrong artist. When I arrived for my appointment, Billy looked at me and said, "Oh, I forgot we even had an appointment." He was tattooing someone else. I probably should have walked out right then. But I didn't. I went to lunch and came back. Then he told me he was going to start drawing my tattoo. And when he showed me what he'd drawn, I thought, Okay... maybe this is just the base. Maybe he's one of those artists who starts with something rough and then works his magic. So I trusted the process. Another hour and a half went by. Then he decided he was going to eat lunch. So I waited some more. Looking back, there were approximately 47 opportunities for my common sense to kick in and say, "GET IN YOUR CAR." But I stayed. That's on me. Eventually, the tattoo was done. Except... I asked for a bison. And I got a f***ing chupacabra. I'm not kidding. If Yellowstone had a creature that looked like it had been hanging out behind the dumpster at a gas station at 2 a.m., THAT'S WHAT IS ON MY ARM. And normally, I could laugh about a bad tattoo. But this one hurts. Because this wasn't just artwork. This tattoo was supposed to represent one of the hardest battles of my life. I trusted someone with that story. And instead, I have a f***ing chupacabra on my arm. Afterward, I reached out to Billy and asked if he wanted the opportunity to correct his work. His response was that he needed to "check his calendar." I'm still waiting for him to finish checking that calendar. So now, not only did I pay for the original tattoo, but I'm going to have to pay another artist to fix it. I mean, c'mon, I have a cancer patients budget And that's the part that really pisses me off. Not just the money. Not even just the terrible artwork. It's that something that was supposed to be incredibly meaningful to me has become something I'm embarrassed to look at. I should have left when he forgot our appointment. I should have left when he was tattooing someone else. I should have left when I was waiting around. I should have left when I saw the drawing. I didn't. That's on me. But what happened after I sat down and trusted the artist is not on me. So I'm sharing this for one reason: If you're considering getting tattooed at Billy's Tattoo Works, please think about it. Then think about it again. And then maybe think about it five to seven more times. Do your research. Look at healed work. Ask questions. And most importantly, if something feels wrong before the needle ever touches your skin, LEAVE. I didn't. And now I'm going to have to find someone talented enough to turn my f***ing chupacabra back into the bison it was supposed to be.
