I was in labor for three days and stayed at the hospital for five and my husband and I still rave about how well we (plus our girl!) were treated. What a warm all-star team, from our midwife Linda to Katelyn our nurse and our OB Dr. Shaw, who made giving birth one of the biggest, coolest, bravest things I could do. I'd always heard that Northern Westchester has got a great labor and delivery dept but this went beyond anything I dreamed. Plus, the food is unreal. Feasting on salmon, chicken quesadillas, pancakes, and green smoothies pre and post-birth? Your own room? 24-hour nonstop help and advice? A first-time-parent's dream. 5 stars!!!!

I went to Nancy at two separate stretches of time in my life to work through some incredibly…read moredifficult issues. I have to say, with no exaggeration, that Nancy probably saved my life and helped me to be an advocate for myself. In both instances, I was working through some very traumatic and difficult times in a complex family situation and also navigating some major stressors at work. Nancy was compassionate, empathetic, skilled, and an incredibly good judge of character. She is well read, intelligent, and thoughtful in her delivery, and takes a holistic and integrative approach to helping her clients. She was flexible in scheduling me and worked with me on a sliding scale. She also got me involved in journaling and initiating a daily practice of gratitude, which was nothing short of life-changing and what I needed. I was invited to attend her writing group, a very warm and nurturing group who didn't judge me for being too nervous to share and I still benefited from hearing from others. Nancy puts you immediately at ease but can be direct and impactful, always tempered with kindness. I'm sorry I didn't continue with her when I was contemplating a big life change (a big move with someone who was not good to me). This completely (and thankfully) fell through when a member of my family became gravely ill and sadly died. What Nancy does not know today is that she helped me profoundly to tap into my own strength and sensibilities to break off this very unhealthy and toxic relationship that lasted throughout the second span of time I worked with her for good. I so wish we were still in touch, but for her I wish nothing but the absolute best. She is truly a blessing in my life and a gem of a human being and practitioner. I miss talking with her so much and couldn't begin to express just how thankful I am that I knew her.

I count my blessings that Dr. Viscarello and his fabulous nurse Shirley accepted me as a pregnant…read morepatient. I'm 6 weeks post-partum, having had a c-section. Firstly, if you end up needing a c-section, he actually performs a more thorough procedure than other surgeons in the area; He sutures back all 7 layers of tissue that are separated. I was surprised to learn that this is not standard. Google it! I read about this 7 layer difference in the book "Strategies of a C-section Mom." I haven't experienced it any other way, but anecdotally I feel that this method is superior. Dr. V also uses disappearing stitches rather than the kind that you have to remove, or (yuck!) staples. Plus, he never paternalized or made big decisions for me. He presented me with medical info, and allowed me to make decisions for myself. Something else I must praise them for: Shirley knew I was nervous. So she arranged to meet me outside of office hours just to personally tour me around the hospital and breakdown exactly what the experience would go like. She held me during my spinal and helped me through my anxiety. I think she has some specialty in anxious patients--and boy is that important for first time pregnant women! I literally can't say enough positive things about this practice. Everyone I know who has used them feels the same way. His staff speaks with such love and respect about Dr. V., and they all seem to use his for their own birth experiences. They really care about the long term welfare of their patients. They care deeply about preventing future complication like adhesions. They cared about and treated me as an individual patient, rather than falling back on rote procedure. Oh man, all I can say is that they are the best. I feel privileged that they birthed my baby. I will never forget their kindness.

Do yourself a favor and keep looking for a doctor, even if you've been referred to this doctor,…read morejust don't do it! You'll feel like me, uncared for. The front office staff is completely disrespectful, rude and disorganized. They don't know what you're there for and which appointment is which. I basically felt like I was a pushover and "just another number". The minute you walk into the place it feels like time stopped for them in 2007.. I think I even saw a magazine the from 2012.. that's beside the point. I am about 4 months and everything was going fine until I got a call from the office saying I missed an appointment early on that day. I immediately asked how is this possible, I only scheduled one appointment that was two weeks away. Grace who was on the phone continued to argue with me saying I definitely missed it so I continued to defend myself and say I never missed an appointment nor was I ever late. She said "you missed it and that's that". Knowing I am pregnant and obviously stressed and super uncomfortable and didn't care to diffuse the situation instead kept arguing. She finally said there's an opening tomorrow and I can come in. I agreed and hung up the phone in an even more stressed out state. But it was settled. A few minutes later I get a phone call from the nurse Shirley who by the way pretty much runs the place and often plays "doctor". She immediately says she doesn't like the way the phone call went with Grace at the front desk and wanted me to apologize if I wanted to continue going there . I quickly said no thanks and hung up. She then tried calling again and again until finally she left a nasty voicemail asking how I'd like my medical record sent. This was below the line !!! I started thinking about what just happened and was in total disbelief. Did they forget I am the patient? That I am pregnant and stress should be eliminated? So if I did miss an appointment and maybe forgot to write it down was that a reason to act the way they did? Terrible!!!! I am now in the middle of my term and have to start all over... that's stress !!! I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Viscarello once, it took 2 hours to see him. Yes that's how long you have to wait to see a doctor, after months if going there. So my suggestion stays.... Keep away

She puts you at ease and explains things in a very easy to understand way. Yes appointments have been canceled or dates switched in the real world all doctors do this. She is not the only one who's schedule can cause this. If you have a problem she will always try to fit you into her schedule. Or at the very least message you or have her assistant call you. She is a very dedicated doctor with a wonderful personality and as I said she is an extremely knowledgeable doctor. Never has she ever ignored my requests for help. She should never be judged by a canceled appointment The reviews left by others putting her skills as a doctor down are basing it on scheduling not her ability to be an excellent doctor. I have complete faith in her and I without a second thought have put my life in her hands. Dont go by anyones review you have to meet her in person to see what kind of doctor she truly is. The evening before the…read moreappointment, I received a telephone call from Briana, a staff at her office, stating that they had to cancel my appointment because they were not taking new patients. I inquired why I was not informed about it when I first made the appointment and Briana stated that it was because I was misinformed. I made this appointment due to a serious health condition and I waited three weeks for it. I asked Briana if there was any way the doctor would see me and Briana stated that I would have to speak with the office manager. I asked her when I would be able to speak with the office manager and she replied that "she did not know" and hung up on me. Briana's behavior poorly reflects on this medical practice. We seek doctors because we need them and it is critical that patient care begins with the staff working at the office. This is not an appropriate way to treat a patient.
