I like visiting here and it's one of those sleepy towns where if you didn't want anything much to happen and you didn't want any surprises it would be a great place to live. Everybody knows everybody and it's pretty and relaxing and there is basically no crime whatsoever - except voting for Donald Trump - which is punishable by eating crap fast food and generic chain diners - so they all do. Sigh.

We take pride in our empathetic service and commitment to safety in Adair, because who knows when we might get the chance to lure you here to enjoy our hospitality. Have a nice day.

I have used this facility for personal business on a few occasions and I've always found it to be an easy to use facility. It was very convenient and well laid out. The Site offers and requires security clearance before patrons may enter. There is some parking locally, but sometimes parking is a bit away and requires a bit of a walk.

The lobby and courthouse spaces have marble walls and terrazzo marble floors. You'll be able to spot the ornamental moldings around the interior doorways. It is six stories tall and you can't miss the Art Deco stylings. Sebastian county has two seats of justice, this one and another that was build in Greenwood in 1861. The county was named for US Senator William K. Sebastian who served from 1849 to 1861. This building initially also served as City Hall for ort Smith but the city offices have been moved to a new building on Garrison Avenue. The building was secured when I was here on a weekend but it's easy enough to walk the grounds and stick your nose against the glass at the entrances. And the street parking is free thanks to the City of Fort Smith. [Review 678 of 2024 - 348 in Arkansas - 21709 overall]

The outline of an apple complete with stem encircle a mirror-like sheet that is polished to shape the "seeds" on the front. The caption reads, "In celebration of Bentonville's Sesquicentennial Anniversary in 2023, the past and present are brought together with the Seeds of Bentonville. By 1877, Benton County was one of the two largest apple-producing counties in the nation. The shape of an apple slice represents the more than 40,000 acres of apple orchards in the area at that time. Inside the apple slice are 150 apple seeds. The words imaged onto the seeds were provided by local residents to describe what they love about Bentonville today." The words include relaxed, welcoming, thriving, Oztrails, good in people and community. The artwork is by Justin Deister and it was created in 2023. Stop by and check it out. The library is part of a long building that also includes the police, fire station, city hall, and courthouse. There are 2 rooms and it's set up more like a cozy bookstore. The kids' room in the back has movies and a good selection of kids and teen books . There is one kids computer and a bench but not much seating. The front room has a librarians desk, and all the walls are covered with bookcases along with a couple center shelves for movies, audiobooks, and paperbacks. I believe they have a public computer available and a few chairs. It's definitely worth stopping by if you are a book lover and live nearby!
