Upon arrival, the salesman we'd talked to on the phone (Taylor) met us at the door. He got pulled to another family but made sure we were in another salesman's (Steve) hands before he left us. Steve was super patient - he gave us his opinion instead of just telling us, 'Oh, yeah it's great' every time we looked at something. We are first timers; he took that into consideration - teaching and informing. They have a pretty large selection despite having sold more campers during quarantine months. After finally agreeing on a camper we met with Barbara in finance. She was very kind; she gave very thorough direct explanations - no jive or fast talking. She reminded me of everyone's favorite aunt! Our final stop was with Dylan. He did a one-on-one class with us over the how, what, where, when, why of the entire camper - he was (again) super patient. Answered all of our questions and took a lot of my anxiety away. Okay, so CU has an RV park across the street from the dealership. It's called The Cove. There's a lake, pool and a park. They offered one night free, which was great for us (if we got stuck or had trouble on our first time - we're across the street from the experts)! We also got a $25 gift card to their store.. Check Walmart's prices first and get something special - newbie advice. I say all this to say, we had a really good experience at CU and The Cove. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I believe that the business sold the RV for more money than the agreed upon purchase price I had with them. During my consistent communication, their sales team set a pick-up date unbeknownst to me and used the passage of that date as a reason for cancelling the deal. I believe this company operated in bad faith and despite having a signed deposit and purchase agreement with me simply pulled the deal in the interest of making more money on the vehicle with a different party.

Only solution was to remove the entire kitchen, bathroom and bucket seats in a new van. PASS. Bankston cost us over $2000! My wife and I had been searching for an Entegra Launch 19Y Mercedes campervan which are harder to find in Southern California where we live. I found one advertised on RV Trader in Alabama at Bankston Motor Homes and after a short negotiation, agreed on a price and placed a down payment with plans to fly out and drive the Van back home. It would be several weeks before we could travel to Alabama and I was assured that would not be a problem. Two days before we left, they called to advise of an error code requiring Mercedes to fix. After 3 1/2 weeks and continual communication, the van should have been checked sooner. When we arrived, we were told the vehicle had the error code fixed and had undergone the scrutiny of 8 dealership people and it was ready to go. We started with a walk through of the vehicle and right away began finding items needing attention. Although mostly minor or cosmetic they began to pile up with bigger and bigger items. We could have worked through these until we discovered the interior hallway floor was delaminated causing a very, very loud squeaking that could be heard 20 feet away from the van on the outside! This is the area where you stand for the kitchen, climb out of the bed and also enter the bathroom. We asked for the Service Manager so we could better understand what had happened to the floor and how it could be remedied. Rick explained what must have happened in the manufacturing process and what was needed to repair this problem. The solution required the complete removal of the entire interior kitchen cabinetry, the entire wet bath and the passenger second row bench seating. The one-piece laminate floor would then be removed so the sub floor could be re-glued and then everything re-installed. This process would require their service team 4-5 days and would be covered under warranty. Both the Walk-Through Agent, Melissa and the Service Manager, Rick were very, very sorry and agreed the van was in need of the repairs to the floor along with the other list of items found. We were not willing to proceed with a purchase of roughly $150,000 and then have our new vehicle dismantled. The Salesman and the Sales Manager, who never even came out to discuss this with us, could not have been less empathetic. All Logan could say was Gee, we didn't hear that before! We even asked if they would be willing to discount the vehicle to cover our inconvenience if we were to drive it home and have the warrantied repairs done in California. They offered a 1.3% discount for us to have to handle this issue ourselves. Needless to say, we declined the offer and the sale. Bankston could absolutely care less that we spent money and time flying to their business and back home including hotel nights and Lyft fees from the nearest airport. In total we spent around $2,000 and they were simply indifferent. Not only this, but by the time all of this had transpired, we had been there almost 5 hours and they were ready to close. With no car, no cell service at the location to find an Uber or Lyft, no van to drive home as planned and no hotel or flights at this late hour, we were about to be homeless on their front drive with no means to help ourselves. When we exclaimed this to our Salesman, Logan Hubbard, he replied he'd like to help, but the kid's car seats were in his truck and he also had a kid's ball game to attend. The only way we didn't end up Lord knows where was Melissa Smith was kind enough to clear out her truck and drive us all the way to the Birmingham airport. She apologized profusely and told us she wouldn't allow us to be left helpless. On top of every other cost, we naturally paid her for her kindness and were truly appreciative of her. In the end, we can only conclude that Bankston knew of the problem with the Camper Van and hoped to unload it to someone who may not notice the problem. Logan said they had no money in it and it had been sitting for a long time. I wonder why? Please don't let them fool you, look elsewhere to a dealership that cares for people. They let us walk away with our $150,000 cashier's check and never had a manager talk to us during our visit or reach out afterward. What a lousy way to do business!

Overall abysmal experience. Found an online price for an RV that I wanted. After I talked with the…read moresalesman about buying it, he sent an "out the door" price sheet and the additional fees added about $4000 to the price, plus tax on top of those fees, making it an average deal and one that I would not drive several hours to obtain. After a lot of negotiating and having to prove I had a quote from a nearby dealer for a similar price, they finally agreed to discount the RV price to get it back down to approximately the advertised price. They wanted to sell me a weight distributing hitch and installation for $1199. I bought the hitch alone for about $650 and did the 20 min set up (installation) myself. To set the hitch up, I need to know the height of the RV hitch point. It took over a week to get that information. In the meantime, they kept asking me how high my truck hitch was. I tried multiple times to explain that I could adjust the ball height on my truck and that I need the RV hitch height to set it up properly. Anyone remotely familiar with towing an RV should have understood this question and been able to answer it after a very simple measurement. The time it took to get the information leads me to believe none of the people I talked with, including the parts manager, have any clue about towing an RV. Just before arriving at the dealership for delivery, I got a text that my salesman would not be there, but he had arranged for someone else to assist. The dealership didn't seem to have that information, but after 30 min or so, they did provide tech to do a walkthrough. He was the only shining light in this dealership, doing a very nice job of walking us through the RV. Paperwork was crazy, primarily trying to sell us extended warranties, but not being very clear on how much they cost. Always trying to hide the actual additional cost. They also wanted me to sign several forms, including more than one power of attorney, without being able to clearly explain why. At one point, his answer to why they needed multiple powers of attorney was "you're just going to have to trust me. We're a multi billion dollar corporation." My response was that he had not earned my trust. The young man, got tired of my questions that he couldn't answer and finally left the room, saying he would get someone else to help us. After 15-20 minutes, waiting, I was ready to leave the whole thing behind, but I told the receptionist that they needed to get someone out to talk with me or I was walking. A higher level finance person came to assist at that point and finalized the paperwork. She was rational and able to explain what they needed signed and why. When done signing the papers, I went to connect the RV to my truck and found one of the upper marker lights was not working. I reported this and they sent the same tech who had done the walk through out to fix it. While he was fixing it, I asked about a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that I thought was supposed to be on the RV. He told me there was an app that I would need to download to read the TPMS. After arriving home and going through the limited manuals that are provided,I found that they should have given me a TPMS monitor, but did not. I immediately contacted the sales rep who said he would talk with the Rockwood rep. After another week of back and forth, including a final email to everyone who's email I could find, I got a response from Rockwood that they would send me the monitor, which i finally did receive the following week. All in all, I am happy with the Rockwood Mini Lite I bought, but if I had it to do again, I would buy it from somewhere else, even if I had to pay a bit more.

I drove 8 hours from Daytona Beach, Florida to Anniston to purchase a used Cherokee Wolf Pup. I felt confident in doing so from a reputable dealer that assured that all areas of operation have been inspected and the unit is ready for sale. ..so here is what was either checked or looked over, or completely neglected and signed off on anyway. 1. My unit is eating batteries. They said that they put a brand new battery in the unit, and over one night parked at home, the voltage read 10.8v and wouldn't hold a charge from solar. Maybe they threw a battery in the same day I bought it and let it ride. When I called (three days after purchasing), I was told verbatim "this is why we ask you multiple times to buy an extended warranty" Hey. I get it... but I have owned this unit for 72 hours and this is why PDI exists in most reputable dealers. 2. The freezer/refrigerator fan had to be replaced within a week of ownership. I did it on my own (which is fine), however; again, why was this not a part of a PDI quality check? 3. Tire blew out on the way home (which happens, I get it) - only I was assured of a tire quality check when I asked before I drove 8 hours to buy the unit, and I realized the unit had mismatched tires, and the one that blew must have been the original tire. 4. Before I installed the brand new tires I've had mounted, I went to lube the bearings and found that the axle had been replaced in 2024 at the Anniston location. That's fine. A new axle isn't a red flag.. only (see photos) the trailer brake wiring job that they did is considerably dangerous and that absolutely should not have passed QA standards literally anywhere. I have a mobile mechanic coming out to fix this issue ASAP. No wonder I have a "trailer brake wiring fault" message on my vehicle when towing and trailer brakes are non-existent. Again... HOW did this pass inspection. Long story short: They don't want to help. I'm paying less to fix the issues than I would have on an extended warranty from them (which you can do the research on their warranty program and you'll see why I passed) - I should have bought the (most likely) safer and properly inspected unit that I had my eyes on from another location. The Anniston dealership has many qualities that potential owners would find endearing.. quality of units sold is something that needs to be taken in consideration and, if you do choose them, I would encourage a thorough look into the typical trouble points of a used RV before buying from them.

Hello we got our numbers from other rv dealerships with way lower prices. Ben thought he was doing us a favor but in the end we would have actually over paid for the stuff that was going to be added. where were you getting your numbers from Ben? we were told $6500 to add a solar panel to the roof to a camper that was already solar prepped and just needed a solar panel. then it was $4500. Make up your mind Ben. We wanted an oven installed and we were going to be paying for that but Ben was acting like he was doing us a favor by adding it in. Then when we saw it comes with a tracking device we said we didn't want that and we would not pay for it but he said it was something that had to be paid for, no Ben if a customer doesn't want it then you have to remove it or don't force them to pay for something they don't want. He ended up being a very pushy car salesman that left a bad feeling with us. We went to another dealership and bout the same camper with them adding the same exact stuff we wanted on it for about $5000 cheaper than what Ben was offering us. The camper was actually $3000 cheaper at the other place. it was a much better experience than we got with Ben at this so called great American rv because there was nothing great about it or the experience at all. I will never step foot on this lot ever again unless it is to just waste their time. I have a big following on YouTube and I will make sure to warn people to stay away from this dealership after the pushy way Ben tried to push on us. Stay away from pushy salesmen and know when to walk away from any deal due to the salesman. It wasn't a deal so we walked away and I thank God we did and got a much better deal and experience at the other place and in the end they even threw in all the extras we needed to go camping right away for free And it was offered to us after we signed all paperwork and paid for the camper. That is what I call wanting to make sure the customer is heard and appreciated. We don't mind driving a little further for all of our camper needs to be met since we plane to camp in that area anyways as well as travel the states to visit all the National Parks we can! Our son is autistic and it is his dream to do that and make camping videos and now he is going to get that chance to do so thanks to Ben being an absolute nightmare to deal with and for pushing us out the door to the other dealership and getting the camper we wanted at a steal of a deal! Don't buy from this place especially if they want to force you to buy a tracking device that you don't want or need. That alone is bad business and illegal.

We dealt with leaks for years, the refrigerator had to be replaced, and water damage destroyed parts of the floor. Mobile RV repair techs have told me that 75% of their work is fixing Johnston RV's mistakes. They sell you on their "Lifetime Warranty" -- what a joke. We worked with Gloria during the buying process and Candice afterwards. The buying process was pretty straight forward. Gloria was nice and if she didn't know the answer to a question, she asked for us. Chris gave us a super quick run down of how things in the camper work. I will note, we are first time camper owners and had a lot of questions. Chris just told us to Google any questions we had. We paid the extra $800 demo fee for the "tour/tutorial," sewer hose, adapters, etc. Our camper did not come with a pin for the hitch. Chris said we didn't need one. (We later found out this is very important.) They also didn't have the proper hose so we had to go back later the next week to pick a proper one up. The main problem we had was the timeliness of them submitting the paperwork for our tags to the tag office. We were not given temporary tags, which seemed a little weird. We had to call and text multiple times only to be given the run around. Finally after 54 days, from the day that we bought the camper, they turned in the paperwork to the tag office and I was able to pick up the tags the next day. I wish I would have read reviews on the different platforms before we purchased through them. However, we got caught up in the excitement of getting a new camper. They do not seem to have a good track record and I would not go through them again. I did report them to the BBB and I plan to leave reviews on multiple platforms.

I wrote on the bill of sale that they would give me a copy of a roof inspection. They put white out over it when they sent it via email later. Just got the slimy car dealer vibe with the way they did everything. On top of that it seems most of their units are older models that have been sitting around for years. We have many issues with the trailer. One we noticed while onsite was the water heater and the tech tried to resolve. Part way through he left without saying a word. I saw him getting into his car and followed him. He started cursing about the owner saying how he told him to leave that he would not pay overtime. Sadly as I was there waiting. He left and another girl came out with attitude. She said how she had so much training on the water heater and that you turn off the gas and flip the gas switch on for the water heater. When it does not see gas the electric will turn on. We tried that for 20 minutes and it did not work. I thought that was a idiotic idea, but I did not want to fight with her. I pulled out a surge strip to plug into another outlet and pugged in the water heater. I then proceeded to turn on using the switch I saw from youtube. She got mad and stomped off saying if I was not going to listen to her she would not help. We left that on and the heater started to work. The owner then spoke with me and said he would fix it next week, and see about delivering it to me. After the mess I just went through. I told them to put it back together as I did not trust them to fix it, or deliver it to me. I kind of wanted to just get my money back and leave. That was a good decision as I went to a repair shop and they took about 15 minutes to troubleshoot the power and found the wire was not connected to the breaker properly. After he hooked up again the heater started to work. I was told if the tech hooked up the water heater to the fridge outlet, as he was trying to do that the breaker would have kept popping. That would have been too much draw on the circuit. So beware having them do any work if you buy from them or not. To make it worse this was purchased on October 19, and they have still not filed the paperwork with the DMV for the sale. This was supposed to happen after 30 days, and we are now at 90. It just shows how bad of a dealer they are. I will include some good numbers if you do not heed the warning, and purchase anyway. I have called all three to lodge complaints.
