We were driving through on our way to Niagara Falls and happened to stumble across this hotel to stay for the night. Everything was wonderful! Quite possibly one of the cutest hotels I've ever been in. There is SO much to look at and see through the halls and lobby. We spent time just walking around looking at everything. Our room was very clean and came with 2 water bottles. Very good price to stay for the night and came with continental breakfast which was a great touch. Would recommend to anyone looking for a place to stay. read more

Complimentary parking and in room bottled water beautiful touch. Stayed in the Nantucket Loft for 10 year friendship anniversary, we ordered from the Chilled Cork: the food is Phenomenal, the staff in the restaurant even more so. When staying we recommend walking the halls on every level: scavenger hunt these things 1. Number of cows/Bulls or cow related art and sculptures (milk and burgers count). 2. Number of Apples. These are just two of the things we walked around counting. Amazing time! The hotel provided us with beautiful plush and white robes we enjoyed lounging in all weekend. The Beds are so comfortable we know we slept great when waking up the next morning was easy, and didn't hurt. I recommend Retro Suites to anyone looking for a vacation/ staycation/ or just a fun night or ten. Walking distance to a quant little park, a variety of cute shops including Purple Pansys and The Cabin. read more

This place is simply fantastic. One of the best boutique hotels that I've ever stayed at. The staff is wonderful. Super friendly and cheerful. They have a membership at the great fitness place next door so the fitness amenities are great. Each room is an experience of its own. Super clean and modern with fun themes. The only thing they could possibly do better here is to get rid of the dumb fixed hangers and put some normal wooden hangars in. Overall that's a crazy small complaint. Great hotel!!! read more

I found this remarkable place courtesy of some positive reviews on yelp. The care and Curation that has gone into the painting, the fixtures and the decorations are all top-notch although this is an independent hotel, this concept would work in every single smaller town where there are typically only comfortable motels, each room is designed specifically with the art, curios, and collectibles that the hoteliers felt appropriate for the room. I can't over state how well executed this property is if you find yourself overnighting in Chatham, I would highly recommend this very cool accommodation. read more

I spent the last night in Chatham (three hours from Toronto) at the Retro Suites Hotel ... I've stayed here a couple times in the past and liked it. The suites all have themes. This time I was in the Urban Studio. It was a huge room! There were lots of complimentary amenities including parking, WIFI (it was fairly quick but kicked out sometimes), microwave oven, dishes, mini fridge, breakfast and bottled water. It's a fun alternative to one of the chain hotels. read more

I went there a few weeks ago and was incredibly disappointed. This is a place that says they are business friendly but I could not connect to my office's VPN or my office's webmail which created anxiety for me during the week. I was unable to relax and enjoy the space because I had to scramble to get connected. Had I known I have several options to deal with an outage but I do not expect a place that's office friendly to prevent secure remote connectivity in the form of VPN and in fact HTTPS for my email. We had a room that had two very tall windows (like 10 or 15 feet) but the blind on one of them was prevented from going up any more than a foot and a half. After taking a shower I slipped on their tile outside the shower almost throwing out my back. Would not use or recommend to anyone I know. More flash than substance IMO. read more

So I've been in lovely Chatham, Ontario for work the better part of these past two weeks. It's a small town (population: 40,000) between Detroit and Toronto which really gets no pub, but hey, whaddaya know, there's a Yelp Canada, and Chatham's actually part of it! So I figure here's a good chance to snag some FTRs. The preferred (read: only nice) hotel in this town is the Retro Suites, which is located on King Street, the "best" part of Chatham. I was, however, more than impressed. The hotel rate per night is $150-$200 CAD, and if Manny Pacquiao is "pound for pound" the greatest boxer alive, then Retro Suites may be "dollar for dollar" (or is that "loony for loony"?) the greatest hotel alive. You know, if hotels could breathe and stuff. I'm not kidding though; this is a pretty sweet hotel. Each of the rooms are themed, and they all really look like no expense was spared. The attention to detail (for example, the one hundred and twenty seven--give or take--light switches you'll find in each room) is impeccable. The level of service is extremely friendly. And, like I said, the value for the price is on the spot. The two rooms I stayed in were the Sky and the Royale Plantation. Check out their website (http://www.retrosuites.com/) to see pictures of each room--they're even bigger in person than they look in the picture. They have a nice-looking restaurant (which I never ate at), and though they don't have a gym, they provide access to the gym at the next door mall. On the downside, that means you have to walk outside to get there (not fun in November Canadian weather), but on the plus side, there's a full complement of choices rather than your standard 4 cardio machines and a set of weights. If this were anywhere close to a natural wonder or touristy hotspot, I'd be inclined to stay here every chance I got. Unfortunately, it's not, so I'll just have to settle for looking forward to the next time business calls. read more

Retro Suites Hotel - Hotels Near Me - Chatham, Ontario

I stayed at this cute boutique hotel for work and it was a really nice break from the typical hotel chain you'd normally see. Rooms are large with high ceilings and very nicely decorated - each room has a completely different theme! Such a neat feature. Hotel staff are courteous and attentive. I stayed in a home- themed room. I was told it was the last available room for the date I stayed so I am wondering if this is one of the less "desirable" rooms for those that know the hotel (there seemed to be a lot of repeat visitors) I'm giving this place 3 stars because the mattress had definitely seen better days and needs replacing. It was lumpy and had some pretty deep grooves in it, so I wasn't very comfortable. Maybe I was sleeping more lightly as a result of this but I was woken up several times in the early morning as people walked down the hall/ closed their room doors and walked around in the suite above me - sound proofing seems to be non existent! It sounded like the people in the hallway were literally inside my suite. You can also hear cars as they drive by. The mattress and noise really put a damper on my stay. read more

Retro Suites is hands down one of my favorite places to stay - anywhere. Never in my life would I ever have thought Chatham would be the place to find it. While traveling across Ontario (for six straight weeks and dozens of hotels) I ended up in a small town near Windsor for two nights. In no way was I psyched - until I walked into our hotel. Retro Suites is a boutique hotel in which every room has a different theme. I stayed in the "Mellow Yellow" room and it was just that - totally mellow (think yellow shag carpeting, bright orange tile, and a super comfy bed). As awesome as my room was, it wasn't until I ventured into my friend's rooms that I realized how truly special this place was. My buddies has HUGE suites with themes like "the Royal Plantation", "Easy Ride", "Urban Studio" and "Gentlemen...start your engines". Each room was completely different from the other and all of them felt ultra luxurious and comfortable. Another plus? the prices are VERY fair (don't forget - you're still in Chatham!). The building dates back to the late 1880s and was a warehouse until it was transformed into a hotel in the early 1900s. A lot of the original architecture is still there, though of course everything has been modernized. The hotel offers free yoga at Shakti Yoga, complimentary popcorn and water bottles, silverware and dishes. It honestly feels like a trendy apartment in downtown Toronto. The Chilled Cork is the hotel cafe, and the food we had delivered to our room was fantastic. Our delivery-girl/server was also amazing - she had lots to tell us about the hotel and Chatham. I can sing the Retro Suite's praises loud enough. Beautiful space, great food and superb staff. If you're every in Southern Ontario check this place out - I promise you'll be stunned (in an awesome way!). read more

We were in town for one night because my daughter had a Ringette game in Chatham. I was a little timid that the hotel may be too niche to be appreciated by the kids. Quite the contrary, we stayed in the Queens, which was plenty large for 4. It had kitchenette and table for cards. The hotel was clean, with nice beds and bathroom fixtures. The staff was very helpful. Yes, the hotel is trendy cool with interesting artwork, but it is in every way family friendly and reasonably priced. We had excellent food, moderately priced, at the Chilled Cork. read more

I travel the world and rarely if ever find a gem like this. What a hotel. The food was incredible.

We were in town for the RetroFest classic car show, so picked the RetroSuites due to its proximity to the show. Each suite has a different theme (we had the Turn of the Century), and the overall layout of the hotel was rather cool. The staff were especially pleasant, and truly seemed to appreciate my business. The rooms are well stocked, and the only real issue was the free wifi (service was spotty at best). In the grand scheme of things, it was probably best that I stayed off the computer so I could enjoy the reason I came to town! read more

Its one of my favorite places in the city I have had the pleasure of viewing quite a few rooms and would love to try each one out! My fiancé and I booked to have our wedding at Retro Suites this upcoming August, everything was ready to go until the general manager Pete Tsirimbis tried to break out wedding event contract and then threatened me to cancel the wedding since it was so last minute. He even told me to take him to court because he does not care to have a 'dry' wedding. He then went on to insult me and my fiancé and called us liars. He was completely rude and disrespectful and we had no choice to cancel our wedding at Retro Suites only a month before the wedding day because they have completely ruined our experience. I hope that no one has to deal with this place or Pete. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. read more
