I've had mixed experiences with the Big Red Bus. Some of the technicians are delightful, some OK,…read moreand some "just doing their job". The busses are always uncomfortable cold. My big complaint, though, is that they offer rewards for donating. The reward used to be a coupon for an Amazon gift card. Now one must create and account and login on their website to use the rewards. I donated on 11/29. It is now 12/8 and the rewards are not in my account. I've been dealing with customer service for a week, the issue has been escalated to no avail. Granted, donating blood is giving the gift of life and an altruistic thing to do. However, One Blood offers incentives, and since they do they need to figure out how to deliver those incentives. I don't need multiple blankets and tee shirts, I just want my Amazon credits.

Take a seat and fill out some paperwork, then they give you a iPad style tablet to answer several personal medical questions on, check your iron and blood pressure, and then a private consultation in the rear room of the bus, then you're ready to donate. If they can find a good vein and you have about 15 minutes extra to spare then you can give more blood. But just give anything you can as it may save someone else's life. The great staff help you through the entire process, and make sure you are qualified to give blood, based on your medical history, and if you've traveled to any possible infection zones around the world, received a new tattoo or piercing, and other personal questions like that. This bus was parked at the Winn-Dixie in Ruskin at 1023 North Tamiami Trail. But they move around and can be a variety of locations. The giant bright red bus is easy to spot. The employees make it as painless and quick as possible, and sometimes they even offer a $10 gift card for your donation of blood. Take some time and give some blood.
