The first thing that stood out was his commitment to being a genuine fiduciary. I can honestly say Troy is the fiduciary of fiduciaries, and he was the only one that gave us his ADV forms. We came loaded with questions and he took the time to answer all of them. He was the only CFP when discussing fees that didn't say don't worry about my fees, I'll just make you more money to cover them. When it comes to a CFP, trust is a huge factor. Troy is honest and trustworthy and we sensed that right off the bat. He is also * Experienced and competent * Professional * Ethical * Keeps lines of communication open and is available when we need him * Knowledgeable on finance, tax, estate, insurance matters * Has a clear organized strategy (not reactive) * Answers our myriad of questions, even the same ones over and over * Helps make complex financial concepts easy to understand * Timely * Puts his clients first * Goes above and beyond and exceeds expectations * And much more! The clincher for us, in addition to the above, was/is 1) he is a small, personalized office where we don't feel like a number, and 2) he actually cares about his clients. We get the impression this is more than just a job for Troy (and let me tell you, he loves what he does!); it's like a service to others as well (combo of head and heart). Despite the ups and downs of the current economy he has always guided me in the right direction and my money has remained secure. Chris always gives me a call about once a quarter just to check in and give me a heads up on my accounts (I have a regular investment as well as IRA Roth). I made the credit union aware of this. Despite that, I was shocked to find that insurance had been added to my loan without any discussion with me about coverage options, costs, or alternatives. The premium ended up being around $5,000 per year, which I found completely unreasonable. The biggest mistake I made was not reading every detail of the loan agreement before signing it. I am now paying the price for that mistake. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend that anyone considering a loan through Harborstone Credit Union read every single page of the contract very carefully and fully understand all of the terms before signing. In my opinion, the costs associated with this loan have been far higher than I expected, and I regret choosing this lender. This has been one of the worst financial experiences I've had, and I would not choose Harborstone Credit Union again.

Believe it or not: They do not report actual current balances or performance of my investments on their official documents. 2. the noted investment performance is completely wrong. They show 7% when it is closer to 25%. 3. They aggregate two accounts within reporting without noting the breakout. 4. After calling them to complain, their excuse is that they are forced to aggregate account reporting, even if half of the info is outdated and wrong. Given this situation, they really don't care. We are looking for a new supplier for my company. I am the owner.
