While visiting my daughter's home in Chelmsford, I saw a downtown barbershop that had looked like…read moreit has been there or ages. Longing for an old fashion barber shop experience, I walked in on Saturday about 2pm, only to find the shop totally empty. Clue 1. Empty shop on Saturday. I asked if he was open, and he said of course. The stop had been since 1961. I told the barber that I wanted the back to be trimmed, but not short. He said, you want to the hair (the sides) to be slightly over the ears. I said yes. Just not too short, I replied. He said he knew what I wanted. He covered me with the cloth, pulled out his electric cutters, and made 3 large cuts from the back. I saw large clumps of hair falling to the cover. He quickly moved to the right, and then the left, each time with large sweeps of the clippers. Within minutes, he pulled out what appeared to be long and very old thinning shears. After several larges cuts, he turned the chair to face the mirror. He asked, you want some more taken off? I immediately said no, that's enough. Immediately, I knew he had really cut way more than I wanted. I paid the bill, and gladly walked out. When I got home, and felt the back of my head, I had never felt my hair cut so short in my entire life. Not only was it short in the back, but it was choppy and higher than any haircut I had seen in ages. It was so chopping, and so high, that I asked my son in law if if would clean up the barbers work. It's going to take 6 weeks to recover from this haircut. Never again would I go to this place. There was no heated shave of the neck, no sideburns trimmed by the razor - just a quick, in and out 5 minute haircut. This was not what I expected. I posted the photo to Facebook and within hours, I had 37 comments, most of them pretty funny.

I wish I had read the reviews before going here today with my son!! I had the exact experience as…read morethe first reviewer, not good!! I asked for "a little off the sides, he is trying to grow the top out." The gentleman dove in with the clippers making very inconsistent areas on the sides, then used the trimmer slicing out an area behind his ear and trimming the back way too high and very crooked. Then he asked "what about the top?" I replied as I did in the beginning, "just a tiny bit off the top" he proceeded to lop off large chunks of hair that were several inches long, it truly was like a scene from Edward Scissorhands!!! No joke! I asked him to stop, paid and went to the nearest salon and paid $25 to fix the situation. I am sure this gentleman has had a long and fulfilling career but it is time to retire...

Jim's Barber Shop - This guy cut my husbands hair like this. This is ridiculous. This guy sure spent 50+ years cutting something but it definitely isn't hair.
